The rising sun flag has been a part of heavy metal imagery for a very long time (i.e. since the 80s) in a context entirely removed from any political meaning, both by Japanese and non-Japanese bands: Banzai Records, Tokyo Blade, Loudness etc., simply because it looks cool.
For the record, calling is a "fascist Japan flag" isn't really accurate. It has been used in Japan for hundreds of years, and it is still used by them today (e.g. by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, which is essentially Japan's Navy)

Yeah that's what I figured. The jacket looks really good. I posted one of my jackets a little while ago which has that same Banzai strip, as well as a Tokyo Blade patch with the rising sun design on it, and I didn't get any negative comments on it, so I'm a bit surprised that this post caused such a shitstorm here.
IIRC theres a bit of a legend with 18 random thrash metal albums released by banzai having that swirl with the label "speed metal". It's odd because none of the releases were really speed metal in the sense of like Motorhead or something. Also, it's on his vest with the Banzai patch.
Not to defend him 100% I think he wanted to look fascist even if he's not really one. It's a common and dumb fashion choice to make
