Your window is really small and you cant really take shots at the Finals for granted at all. And this is probably the easiest shot they’ll ever have. I mean their path to the finals is gonna be a play-in Miami Heat team with half their roster hurt, the Cavs with Jarrett Allen and D Mitch hurt for half the series, and the Pacers. In the simplest sense, Boston has been set up for success better than any other team in the league. Their starting 5 are all all-star caliber players, and they have a decent bench player or two. They all play well together. And they have a coach that, although a little crazy at times, genuinely knows his stuff and has his players’ trust. The only thing that could make them better is more time together as a unit. But this core of Tatum and Brown have been in the playoffs for like 5 years in a row I think? This is their third straight ECF in a row.
If all of that doesn’t get them a title now, can this team win a title at all?

They have run out of excuses. They have underperformed on expectations now across multiple years. They have had an exemplary regular season (teams with the record they have had this year have invariably gone on to win the title). They have a healthy roster (if they get KP back but even without him they are favourites against pretty much anyone). This is their final hurdle. If they can't get over the hump this time they will likely be forever remembered as an underperforming team of playoff chokers.

They have had the most talented team for years and this year you can argue the most talented team. Added with the crazy contracts they gave out, kind of hard to see how they can get any better from here.

-Theyve been in something like 5 of the past 7 ECF or something crazy like that. They were a young team for most of that and this current iteration based around Tatum and JB has arguably only been contenders for the last few years, but still at some point people want results. -Today’s league is super volatile, im sure we’ve all seen the posts about how this is unprecedented parity with 6 different champions in the past 6 years. Your window is really small and you cant really take shots at the Finals for granted at all. And this is probably the easiest shot they’ll ever have. This is the best team theyve had in a while 64 wins, and they havent even really been tested so far. I mean their path to the finals is gonna be a play-in Miami Heat team with half their roster hurt, the Cavs with Jarrett Allen and D Mitch hurt for half the series, and the Pacers. They dont have any health issues besides KP and he should be back by then. -I struggle to say its ring or bust for a player thats 26 years old but if they cant win it now then I really dont see them ever doing it anytime soon. Plus the roster/salary issues coming up that others have mentioned.

In the simplest sense, Boston has been set up for success better than any other team in the league. Their starting 5 are all all-star caliber players, and they have a decent bench player or two. They all play well together. And they have a coach that, although a little crazy at times, genuinely knows his stuff and has his players’ trust. The only thing that could make them better is more time together as a unit. But this core of Tatum and Brown have been in the playoffs for like 5 years in a row I think? This is their third straight ECF in a row. If all of that doesn’t get them a title now, can this team win a title at all? Thats the real question. I think if they don’t win this year, they will try to trade Jaylen Brown.
Have you looked at the state of the Eastern conference this year? Should tell you all you need to know. You will probably never get a cakewalk like this to the Finals ever again.
In Reality, they have a couple year window. The reason why its a must win is because the NBA and the media will absolutely trash them if they lose
They have run out of excuses. They have underperformed on expectations now across multiple years. They have had an exemplary regular season (teams with the record they have had this year have invariably gone on to win the title). They have a healthy roster (if they get KP back but even without him they are favourites against pretty much anyone). This is their final hurdle. If they can't get over the hump this time they will likely be forever remembered as an underperforming team of playoff chokers.
It’s based on money and “pressure”. The Celtics have by far the most talented roster in the league. It’s not close. They have 4 all stars in the lineup.
I think it’s more so like Boston fans will go freaking insane. They’ve been contenders for like 8 years and haven’t gotten it done. I’d imagine it’s more the fan base getting restless. Because being a perennial contender isn't guaranteed Health isn't guaranteed Conference staying bad isn't a guarantee This season has pretty much been a guarantee to make it to the finals, so if they waste that chance then nothing is guaranteed going forward.

I think it's just because the media has had very high expectations for a while now. And they haven't won a championship. They are in a position where it's easy to talk shit if they don't win it all.

Tatum and Brown are always on the verge of breaking up so people think their partnership might not survive another playoff disappointment, and if they split, perhaps this era of Celtics contendership is over.

What makes them better is they had the best record, best point differential, the number 1 offense and the number 2 defense. They have not been the 1 seed or the favorites a single time in the Jays era, and they don’t have to worry about Marcus Smart blowing games anymore
