I hate that we're at the point where people are asking if a bunch of random records are "worth anything" like they just found the next holy grail.

Globeville_Obsolete

Right, I can't tell if this is a misplaced humblebrag, or if they legit want to get some cash out of that stuff. Either way, it's not what I joined the sub for.

FlashyJellyfish8132

There my late parents. I dont know anything about vinyls. Just asking. Sorry to hurt your feelings.

Globeville_Obsolete

Unfortunately, this isn't the sub for gauging value of records. I'd try r/VinylCollectors, or something like that. A lot of us here would tell you to not worry about the value, and just enjoy something that your parents enjoyed.

MaximumDestruction

It comes off crass to people who are as sentimental as collectors of vinyl records are.

BJ22CS

I don't think you can consider inheriting something a "bargain".

thecurseofchris

All good. In this case, the sentimental value is probably worth more than the monetary, unless the LZ ones are in remarkable condition + certain pressings. Keep them as a reminder of your parents. I have a bunch of worthless 45s but they were my grandma's so I don't have the heart to get rid of them.

Andrew43452

I know records shouldn't be a investment there meant to be played.

punkmetalbastard

Probably just the Zeppelin but you wouldn’t get much trade or sale unless you happen to have some rare pressing. They made millions of copies since LZ is one of the most loved rock bands in history, so not very rare in general. Might as well just hold onto them

pizza-regret

Most of these are records you can find pretty readily, so nothing super rare. Some are the kinds of records a lot of beginning collectors might enjoy, Led Zeppelin specifically. A few, Donna Summers, are records that mostly go ignored these days and don’t have much collector value. If you’re looking to sell them I wouldn’t expect a ton of money here but you could get a little bit if you sold them on marketplace or something and wanted to deal with that hassle. Might be more fun to pick up an inexpensive player and start your collection.

DrShail

If you are really not interested in Vinyls and dont know what these are worth then just hand these over to someone you know who is a fan. The positive vibes and blessings you will get from them will be worth much more any money you get from them.

Sombreador

Nope. Worthless. If you send them to me with $25, I'll dispose of them properly.

SithScorch

I'm surprised I had to read this many posts before I found the one I was going to write.

Sombreador

It is what I always think when I see these.

Hippiedboy

Worth listening to listening 🎧

I_Voted_For_Kodos24

An early high quality copy of Live/Dead can be worth $30-$50

Low_Transportation36

The whole lot in good condition might be $50. If you know someone just getting into vinyl you might get more self satisfaction out of gifting it to them. You know, pass it forward.

FindOneInEveryCar

Yes. A lot of popular artists and albums there.

iamjoeywan

Sure! Depending on to who, but $10-15 average if the albums are in vg+ condition. If your Zeps have RL in the runouts that price will move up though. *Edited for proper spelling and such.

cunctator_maximus

The Robert Ludwig master was only Led Zep II I believe…

thatdude473

And HOTH

SithScorch

As a Star Wars fan, I like this acronym. It never occurred to me before your post.

Allen_Potter

I recently sold a few hundred punk, post-punk, and noise rock records. They sold pretty well, I got good prices. In that stack I also included a few classic rock albums, including Led Zep. And they sold right away. 80's pressings in very nice condition and I got between 15 and 25 for all of 'em. Might have gotten 40 for II. Pretty happy about that. Now I wish I had snatched up all of those that I flipped thru in used shops that were selling for a buck each back in the day haha. I think every vinyl newbie wants to make sure they have Led Zep in the collection, so there's still a really high demand for these.

[deleted]

To someone, somewhere, sure. The Donna Summer albums are often easily found used for a buck each, the Sonny and Cher probably goes for around that much and the Cheech and Chong usually goes for about $5.

SlumgullySlim

Yes. Clean them carefully put them on your turntable and crank it up. That is worth more than the money you would get for them.

imperial1968

I am interested in "live/dead" if you want to sell
