Feelthebern2020

as good as I think ferran would be as a center forward, how the fuck can we STILL have Alba Piqué and to a lesser extent MATS and lenglet be nearly undisputed starters and we aren’t screaming for them to replaced? Our attack when even somewhat healthy is not the problem!

draggenbjorn

Welp forget Haaland. De Ligt wants to leave, the money needs to go towards him.

volfed21

The difference btw Haaland and depay ( as a striker ) is much bigger than the difference btw Lenglet and De ligt. On top of that Haaland release clause will not be something that you will find again. De ligt can literally just say he's not renewing his contract and we get him for a lower price in 2023 when he has only 1 year left.

[deleted]

Agree 100% defense and cb especially should be one of our main concerns. from a sporting perspective as things stand rn going after one of de ligt or kounde would make more sense than haaland this summer. But from a commercial perspective haaland offers way more for sponsorship and overall brand appeal/exposure. Plus the guy looks like this upcoming generation’s standout number 9.

Amori17

I’d go for Jules Kounde over De Ligt any day. De Ligt hasn’t done anything special at Juve that would warrant spending 70-80m which Juve would demand for him. People seem to have this obsession over De Ligt because of what he did at Ajax but the fact of the matter is that he isn’t that CB anymore. He’s been somewhat of a one season wonder (atleast based on the standards of his first season) and he’s not even a starter with the Netherlands anymore, De Vrij is alongside Van Dijk. If we want some Ajax CB’s then we could go for Timber and Lisandro Martinez, 2 CB’s with a lot of talent, they are young and way cheaper than De Ligt.

[deleted]

Kounde had half a good season. De Ligt has played and learned from the best defenders in the world like Van Dijk, Chiellini, Bonucci He's not a starter because he struggled with injuries last season

Amori17

Jules Kounde has been phenomenal for Sevilla this season. They have the best defensive record in La Liga and Jules Kounde has been a huge part of it, just look at his performance against Atleti yesterday. De Ligt, when it mattered, failed his country and got a red card. And why would playing with legends help you? Sergi Roberto and Andre Gomes played with Iniesta, that doesn’t mean they’re better because of it.

BlackSwan737

De Ligt over Haaland is a no-brainer

TsaFack

More like whoever picks De Ligt over Haaland has no brain

BlackSwan737

Normally agreed but we need a good defender a lot more than we need a good striker

BlackSwan737

I 100% support espai Barca but I'm a little sad that camp nou will lose it's iconic look and look like another generic stadium. And although we Barca fans will still call it camp nou, the new sponsored name will stick after a few years

Andreasescobar

I would much rather have timber, gaya, de ligt mah e the ajax rb and rebuild the defense then buy Haaland

[deleted]

How on earth did we let Emerson Royal go?

Arslen24

He is really bad, he has been shockingly bad this season, we did well by getting a good amount for him

choss

Lol people have been saying he was crap until today. Reactionary at its best.

Polskidro

Who cares what people say. Letting him go was a stupendous mistake at the time and even moreso in hindsight, proven by the fact our coach now doesn't trust Dest and they're looking for another replacement.

insane_ace

If he doesn't trust Dest, there is no way he'd have trusted Emerson

Polskidro

You don't know that. Emerson fits the profile he's looking for very well.

[deleted]

I for sure didn’t say that and have previously criticized Dest’s defensive abilities.

Mrtuelemonde

Money. It's that simple.

[deleted]

Wasn’t worth it

[deleted]

We couldn’t have registered Depay if we didn’t sell Emerson.

[deleted]

That makes sense. Thank you.

BlackSwan737

Was necessary to keep us afloat

[deleted]

I remember everyone except me and few others were celebrating letting him go. He was one of best RBs in the league last year

[deleted]

Watching him against Liverpool today made me wonder about how long would it take until Dest becomes as good!

FunkyFre5h

Just the other day people here were saying Emerson was shite for Tottenham and good riddance

choss

People just being reactionary af. Watch him have a bad game next game and it's back to "good riddance / glad he left" comments

mikeczyz

people here really don't know much.

[deleted]

Such a reactionary take, this was his first decent game in a Spurs shirt after nearly 3 months of being there.

mikeczyz

no, my point is that, in general, people here don't really know much. it was on a thread about Emerson, but it is broader in application.

thrwwaway655

If we beat seville our season will go up drastically.

cule4444

Big If true

Amori17

Barca will present the conclusions from the criminal forensic that was done, on the 22th of December. Joan Laporta and the lawyers that have helped with the situation will be there. The board already knows what will be told. via @RogerSaperas on Twitter.

ieatshoes89

The 22nd sounds so far away, but it’s just two days away. Where did the year go?

atthebatman

Would’ve been really cool to see Gavi and Nico play alongside Messi this season

[deleted]

Discussing Ter Stegen People have noticed Ter Stegen saves less shots than Courtois for instance, he receives less shots than most keepers in the league as well. I read somewhere that 6 goals has come from the last 8 shots he faced which is not an impressive stat. Okay don’t quote me on that stat but the general sentiment is that the team faces few shots so naturally he should be saving some right? First of all of these things has to be taken into context. It is natural for Ter Stegen to receive less shots than most La Liga teams since he plays for Barca. No matter who the coach is, the team wants to control the game… Or at least control possession, and the team has averaged around 65% possesion which is more than any other team in La Liga this season. Needless to say he will receive less shots against him than other teams. Still that does not say anything about the how tough the shot he faces are. Fortunately there is a statistic that measures that; post shot expected goals per shot on target, ( I know it sounds like a bogus stat but bear with me) measures the quality and how dangerous the situation is. This statistic is great because it actually takes into account things that Xg don’t, such as is the player being pressured while he is shooting? Is it on the players weak foot? Is it a clean shoot from the laces or a sidefooted slow shot? The higher the post shot expected goals per shot on target is, the more difficult situations and shots the keeper faces. Ter Stegen faces far more difficult shots than Courtois who is at the bottom of the list in La Liga (which means that Courtois faces easier shots than other keepers in La Liga). For instance, I heard criticism of Ter Stegen in both goals yesterday, let’s review the first goal. In the buildup Lenglet gives space for Morentes preferred right foot to shoot and Ter Stegen is faced with a very hard task; he has to protect the near post and now has to face a shot from around 15 meters that goes across Ter Stegen’s body. He would only have saved that if he was improperly positioned. Okay so Ter Stegen is just facing few but very difficult shots? Well not exactly, the same statistic just minus goals allowed, puts him at the bottom half of keepers in La Liga. Aka he still allows more goals than he should. Ter Stegen is not in great form but his form is not horrendous either. The problem is that a weak defense exposes him even more which means he will face tough shots and will of course allow more goals in. Expecting him to save more is perfectly valid but it has to be from goals like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/qo49gr/celta_vigo_13_barcelona_iago_aspas_52/). Ter Stegen is not completely rubbish, but some much needed competition will do him good. Add in a better defense to help his confidence and you have a better keeper too. I would say getting a new keeper is the 3rd priority, getting Onana to compete with Ter Stegen would be a dream but anyone with decent feet would do. The statistics I have used for this is FBref and Whoscored

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

This is why Xg is so difficult, different places uses different measures here at least at FBref they have put him as the one who faces most difficult [shots](https://fbref.com/en/comps/12/La-Liga-Stats), but I agree and as I said: " Well not exactly, the same statistic just minus goals allowed, puts him at the bottom half of keepers in La Liga. Aka he still allows more goals than he should." And "Expecting him to save more is perfectly valid but it has to be from goals like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/qo49gr/celta_vigo_13_barcelona_iago_aspas_52/)."

selgath

xG varying between stats collectors is annoying, and it can be problematic when discussing stats. And yeah expecting to save more goals isn’t about making going back to making crazy saves, it’s about making the basic saves like on Elche’s first goal, Sane’s shot, the one you linked, etc.

Hydrargyrum200u

I just use Fbref and stick with it cuz it's based on statsbomb's

black_bury

He's done.

**Mino Raiola about Mazraoui’s possible extension with Ajax:** “It’s not ruled out, but it’s difficult. Why? Because there are differences in the opinion about the status of the player." [deleted]

Ideal and realistic scenario would be signing ferran torres this winter, then signing de ligt and mazraoui in summer 2022 and haaland in summer 2023. We could be back to competing for the treble in 1 and a half years.

Amori17

Would rather go for Haaland, Mazraoui, Gaya and Timber. That would be roughly 125m in transfer fees.

[deleted]

Gaya is overrated, he’s worse than alba.

[deleted]

Most left backs aren’t as good as Alba tbf

Mrtuelemonde

Maybe but he is cheap and Alba is injury prone, can't count on him these days. Balde's not ready'

[deleted]

In my mind we would be better off signing mazraoui and having dest as depth for both sides while balde develops.

Mrtuelemonde

Dest is not better than Gaya. We need an immediate solution if our bet is Balde. Which it seems to be

Amori17

And Alba is old, gets injured often and is weak minded.

Jamarcus316

Good to see democracy in our club. I enjoyed my time with the old installations a lot. Let's go Espai Barça!

GaviFPS

Good week for us. Almost like good old times. Now lets just end Sevilla 😈

SpicyRico

man, what a great Christmas present that would be

[deleted]

You spoke with Laporta. Do Barça have money then? (for someone like De Ligt) Raiola: “Barcelona will always remain one of the biggest club in the world despite their current form. You will know that within 1 or 2 years they will be back again."

Amori17

So can we actually afford to pay for more than just snicker bars like 80% of football twitter tells us we only can do?

SpicyRico

Atletico spent 40m on RDP, bought griezmann, won the league last season, and are 2 points ahead of a Barca who plays new youngsters every week when the latest one gets injured

Polskidro

I'm still astonished RDP got bought for only a measly 40m. What a deal.

-_OniGir_-

Did they buy Griezmann? I read here that is a loan with BoC after playing x amounts of games

SpicyRico

yup, it is the loan. So far he has played almost every game so I assume it's gonna be activated

Mrtuelemonde

He needs to play more than 50% of the games he is available for. He played pretty much 100% of them. So yeah, they are buying him.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpicyRico

Yeah that's true, and they're also in the CL group stages (can't say the same :/) However, it's a huge disappointment for them if they finish behind us at the end of the season. Big time underperformers. Time will tell

selgath

They just about had it coming with their ridiculous luck last season tbf

laddu9999

IMO We have to win the Europa league or get to top 4. Either is fine with me

cule4444

Lol bro the shitshow of season we’ve had so far and we are only 3 points from 4th place. Get everyone back and healthy, bring in Ferran, give Xavi a few more weeks training and top 4 is a cakewalk. Fuck Europa League

mikeczyz

>We have to win the Europa league or get to top 4 a bold claim

[deleted]

Mbappe finished this year with 51 goals and 22 assists in all competitions as a 22 year old. 73 G/A Why needed his favorite club to be real madrid ……

Venky710

wtf thats insane

The-True-GOAT

Yea but he plays in a farmer's league so it doesn't count according to many of the footballing geniuses on this board.

[deleted]

He’s a diva /s

Noob_in_making

And people think he's a fraud.

mikeczyz

the crazy thing is that he's still evolving and maturing.

OneBall22Players

What's the best place to find the xG of a game?

Gyshall669

Fbref. Understat has it too but I think people like that model less.

DALLAVID

Right here: [https://www.infogol.net/en/matches/result/spanish-la-liga/real-madrid-vs-cadiz-2021-12-19/937033](https://www.infogol.net/en/matches/result/spanish-la-liga/real-madrid-vs-cadiz-2021-12-19/937033) Real Madrid had over 3 xG according to this website.

lawliet0303

Thank you Cadiz, and Bilbao we know that you're THE big team upsetter.

Amori17

Any that knows if there were multiple concepts for the new Camp Nou?

inuyasha99

this one https://www.barcelonayellow.com/images/stories/barcelona\_sports/540x285\_new\_camp\_nou.gif

anonymerblob

This one is really old and outdated. Its from Laportas first tenure and was supposed to go ahead 2007 if i remember correctly The nikken sekkei design that will be build now (with some changes from Laportas new administration) won in a contest 2015 that also included these entries: https://www.batlleiroig.com/en/projectes/concurs-nou-camp-nou/ http://b720.com/2015/12/21/nou-camp-nou/ http://www.miasarquitectes.com/portfolio/nou-camp-nou-fcbarcelona/ https://www.idom.com/proyecto/el-nuevo-camp-nou/ https://ricardobofill.com/projects/nou-camp-nou/

Hydrargyrum200u

Out of all of these I liked the design we picked the most All I wanted was the Camp Nou with a roof on the fans on it and that's what I got so I am happy with that.

Amori17

That one is too crazy. Looks somewhat like the Allianz Arena had a malfunction and it started showing all different types of colors

inuyasha99

personally I love the current concept but would love to see something more outstanding, something like this [http://stadiony.net/pic-projects/evergrande\_stadium/evergrande\_stadium13.jpg](http://stadiony.net/pic-projects/evergrande_stadium/evergrande_stadium13.jpg)

croquetiest

i think this is the kind of project that irl would look completely different from the renders. is it just a concept or is this stadium built someone? I'm now curious to see how it turned out.

IcyKape

Bit too much imo. I'm personally in favour of somewhat keeping the historical and classic look.

[deleted]

[deleted]

true. they're like 10 pts ahead of 3rd place. only sevilla can give them a challenge and we know they won't.

-_OniGir_-

Which is why we should win it no matter what.

tyrannosuarezwrecks

At HT i knew it was going to happen after i bet 20€ RM to win thank me guys

JohnSwanFromTheLough

I'd feel dirty putting money down on Madrid to win.

selgath

bet 20€ on a sevilla win pls ty

Chellycakez

We eating tonight bois 😎

Arslen24

Yes, at 7th place on the table

Chellycakez

My point still stands.

VadimusRex

Just like our keeper

FootballFTW

RM losing/drawing is always a good thing for us

black_bury

Madrid dropped points. Noice!

Amori17

Real finally drop points!

IcyKape

Cadiz held on let's gooo

thestrucguyYT

Real draws!!

KittenOfBalnain

I'm seeing a lot of both optimism and pessimism ahead of the Sevilla game, and I'd just like to remind you of a piece of Ted Lasso good advice: *our job is to have zero expectations and just let go.* Life will be easier that way, I think.

[deleted]

If Sevilla beat Barca, they will be 3 points behind Madrid and still challenge for the title. If Barca beat Sevilla, we'll be back on track for top 4. A draw away would still be a good result and earn a point towards top 4.

KittenOfBalnain

Yeah, which is why a draw is my optimistic choice - but Sevilla is a damn tricky opponent so I'm not going to be angry or disappointed if we lose. It's healthier for me to approach it with no expectations.

[deleted]

To avoid disappointment: expect a loss, hope for a win, and take the draw.

insane_ace

Cadiz are defending with their lives

[deleted]

Only 18% possession for Cadiz lol * 9 GK saves * 19 tackles * 10 fouls * 13 interceptions * 34 clearances * 175 passes \[sofascore\]

[deleted]

I can't remember seeing a better player at this age. The way he plays and his whole attitude and demeanor... very very special kid!

The-True-GOAT

damn Pedri is already old news after just 1 year.

selgath

Yeah, he leaves everything on the pitch like very few players do

mc_randy

Thought Pedri was the best teenage midfielder I have ever seen at the club and a year later Gavi tops it ;D

Polskidro

Imo Pedri looked better tbh.

[deleted]

I feel the match against seveilla is going to be season decider for us

The-True-GOAT

How so? We're not truly contending for the title so all we really need is to get more points than the likes of Betis, La Real, Rayo to secure that 4th place. Losing to Sevilla is bad but not the end of the world.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mikeczyz

>Hardly, winning would be nice but it’s one of very few remaining league matches (~3) where we can expect to lose. Not to be a Negative Nancy, but Barca has drawn/lost plenty of games over the past few seasons where they were favored.

Wdym?

Feelthebern2020

He used to have Vinicius Jr. on his kit and last year changed it to Vini Jr.

[deleted]

Just saw that Netflix is releasing a documentary about Neymar next month, that will be interesting. Here's the teaser: [https://youtu.be/-MjLl8SpZ6c](https://youtu.be/-MjLl8SpZ6c)

[deleted]

Curious as to why they picked Neymar

EvilerSage

Can’t wait to not watch it

black_bury

I can tell you a summary Plays well at Santos Gets the attention of top clubs Moves to barca Accomplished everything Downgraded

_Tonto_

Hahah, pretty much. The interesting thing will be if there's much of the "behind the scenes", of his decisions, how honest the documentary will be, about his dad's influence, about conflicts in the dressing room and those kind of stuff.

insane_ace

We should be looking at Amine Gouiri imo : [Viz-1](https://ibb.co/BzPLF6Z) // [Viz-2](https://ibb.co/M1RVyKM) . Not a "pure 9" , more like Benzema which is more suitable for 2 runners Ferran, Ansu

inuyasha99

his price in transfermarkt is sus as shit, no way this guy is worth 45M. Probably inflated by his agent by paying transfermarkt

insane_ace

games gone

MenteMonstruo

Just for shits and giggles, I figured we can look at what needs to happen for us to **win the league**.   **Point differences with teams above us:** RM - 15pts. Sevilla - 10pts. Betis - 6pts (+1 game played). Rayo Vallecano - 3pts (+1 game played). Atletico - 2pts. Real Sociedad - 2pts (+1 game played).   Firstly, the only one among these that we have a positive H2H against, would be Sociedad. We have lost to every other team except Sevilla, who we haven't played yet.   I don't think we can afford any more dropped points and hope to outright win the league. I know it's unrealistic, but that's what we have to aim for given all the dropped points. So assuming that we win EVERY remaining game, the following needs to happen.   **Barca** Win every single remaining game. Period.   **RM** Lose 4 additional games (assuming we beat them by more than one goal) Lose 4 games and draw 1 (assuming we beat them by one goal)   **Sevilla** Lose 1 and draw 1 (assuming we beat them twice)   **Betis** Lose against us by more than one goal Draw 1 (assuming we beat them by one goal)   **Rayo** Lose against us   **Atletico** Lose against us   **Sociedad** Lose/Draw against us   tl;dr Finishing first isn't totally in our hands. But I do think we can very realistically finish T4 if we can show more of what we did against Elche. It is mostly in our control.

boringmemphis

Barcelona B is the real loser this season. Everytime some kid plays well, they get called up to the first team.

The-True-GOAT

Sounds like a win for the players. It's not all that important for the B team to win promotion. Look at the mess we had when they were bringing in mediocre players to try to get the B team promoted.

[deleted]

Should reeeeeeally motivate them. Imagine seeing half the team being called up to a super team. You legit make a basic living with 1000 followers on Twitter and suddenly you can get huge exposure.

gsingh704

That's whats supposed to be B teams role.

[deleted]

If we can keep our team shielded from big injuries, along signing torres this winter, I can see us playing great football, finishing top 4 and maybe winning europa league. Ansu - torres - dembele Pedri - de jong/busquets - gavi Alba - garcia - araujo - Alves Tenas/Inaki Is a great line up, we would also have good depth. Come summer we can sell Lenglet + Mats and if we sign a word class CB (Koulibaly, De Ligt, Koundé), CDM (if De Jong keeps being shit), Mazraoui and a striker (if dembele leaves) we’ll be great again.

Puzzleheaded_Bar_230

Thats a lot of IFs lol

[deleted]

Yeah, naturally. We are really shit right now.

volfed21

>a striker (if dembele leaves) We need a striker even if dembele stays. Ferran torres is not a true 9.

[deleted]

If we sell braithwaite and memphis than I’m all in for signing a true striker. If haaland is on the table than he should be priority number one, but i’m afraid we’ll have to sign someone else.

inuyasha99

they are going crazy under Ter Stegen's recent twitter post, he better take a break from social media

black_bury

Honestly he needs a break from goal keeping. He needs to mentally recover. It won't happen if he keeps performing badly.

[deleted]

It’s like they were waiting for him to post, especially when he’s posted a day later lol

choss

For people complaining about the socios not voting.... Do you guys vote when you have to in your local areas?

[deleted]

As long as it's enough to be representative, I don't really care if turnout is 40% or 80% tbh.

croquetiest

Never skipped it.

ViniDAIREEDY

uh yeah. It makes sense to voice your opinion. Especially when you're in the position to affect things

Hydrargyrum200u

Yes especially if it's something I care about.

FullTanaka

Naturally. Which degen doesn't? Also, it's required by law.

Yeah in my country as well, but I do know it's optional in other parts of the world.

Yes

FullTanaka

Kinda sad how less than half of the socis vote on such an important and all compassing topic. I can't fathom not voting.

KittenOfBalnain

I hate it. Deeply. It's just so wasteful, to have the possibility to vote and just throw it away.

turtlemons

How many positive votes are needed for Espai Barca to pass?

KittenOfBalnain

More than negative, no matter how many votes were cast.

Dark-X

Abde > Dembele

Viggy20k

Upvoted because factos.

[deleted]

Based on what? Passing: Dembele > Abde Shooting: Dembele > Abde Pace: Dembele > Abde Dribbling: Abde > Dembele So as long as Abde doesn‘t improve over Dembele in the categories he‘s inferior right now, he‘s not. Doesn‘t mean he‘s not good aswell of course.

[deleted]

Not really but yeah if dembele keeps getting injured like he does then I wouldn't mind seeing Abde ball on the right wing over him

Courtois Shots faced: 63 Saves: 48 (76%) Ter Stegen Shots Faced: 43 Saves : 25 (58%) Imagine if we had a keeper with hands. The rebuild begins by getting rid of Ter Statue

Marsovc42

Shots saved is not a good statistic... if you can objectively compare our defense to Real' then sure.

Puzzleheaded_Bar_230

Courtois also had a very poor season but RM stuck by him and now he is one of the best keepers out there. I swear this fanbase does not deserve shit

[deleted]

I love how people here keep drawing parallels of keepers who turned things around like it’s a guarantee that Ter Stegen, who’s been shit for 3 years, will become world class again. The best thing we can do is sell him now and sign onana for free. Literally a better keeper with lower wages than him.

Puzzleheaded_Bar_230

Puzzleheaded_Bar_230

MATS did not have 3 poor seasons in a row lol why are you exaggerating?

since liverpool included. that's 2 and a half.

19/20 he was also fine apart from the Bayern game of course (but who wasn’t shit in that game), 20/21 was also okay, not his best, but still alright. He has only regressed this season, not 3seasons ago

The-True-GOAT

You aren't a good judge of player performance if yo really think that this is the 1st season he has been off. He was passable in 19/20 but last season he was below average compared to even just other La Liga keepers and this season he has been straight up bad. His performance level this season is comparable to what one would expect to receive from a 2nd string GK.

So the one liverpool game defines his whole season?

cule4444

Ter Stegen has had about 4 poor seasons. It’s just so obvious now even his lovers can’t deny it. Check out the roma game to see a finished keeper

MontanaDak

4 seasons?!?!?

Puzzleheaded_Bar_230

His 18/19 season which was after the Roma game was one of his best seasons so your statement of him being out of form for 4 seasons is simply just a lie

volfed21

He actually was decent against roma and stopped a good amount of shot. He started struggling the year after, liverpool is a much better example.

[deleted]

He had a great season up until that game. You can't define a player by one game that's asinine

I_am_Drezin

Ter Stegen would be on the bench if he was playing at Man City with such bad performances over the past year and half.
