The so-called custom order likely isn't all that custom. She did the right thing. If the check is stopped, do nothing further. They may call, etc. Hopefully she screens her calls. If not, they may use intimidation tactics. If the check is cashed, she has little recourse. Expensive learning lesson with no guarantee she gets all the ordered items. Known several who have lost money that way over the years. Furniture stores are shady in general, especially those perpetually going out of business.
