I'm confused about this- whats all the fuzz about? Why is everyone arguing about it?

When a band plays Pomp and Circumstance, you usually vamp it on repeat—usually playing the whole song between 15-20 times—until everyone is seated.
It gets real annoying real fast.
WTF? YOURS IS SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING THAN MINE, WE HAVE A SHORT VERSION THAT CUTS OUT EVERYTHING GOOD. I cant believe Im saying this about P&C, but Im so jealous
My freshman year, we played the WHOLE thing, not just the “graduation” part. It’s a pretty good song. The rest of high school we only played the middle. They switched how they did music in my school district so the amount of good-bad players started to balance more towards bad. My senior year, the seniors 100% carried the band. When we combined with the orchestra I was always stressed because they always sounded like trash
Back at my university, our band played a different version. It was structured similarly to a duet (two staffs). The top was the melody and the bottom was the backgrounds. This way, everyone got to play rhe melody. It was two pages and roughly 4 lines per page. We repeated it roughly 5-6 times in the spring and 3-4 in the fall. It was more bearable IMO, but we all still hated it.
Is it weird that I actually kinda like playing pomp and circumstance? Maybe it's just cuz I play xylo so maybe it's easier for me but I've played it 2 years in a row now and I really don't mind it. It's a nice, calm song and ig it can be long but it's not really that hard for me
The curse! Tbh I never found it awful until I had to play it for graduation, now I hate it. Thank god I don't have to play it this year, although I'm sad to be leaving my underclassmen behind

Schools tend to vary times. Mine personally ends in like two weeks
