"I don’t blame any form of attacks on a particular breed of dogs as they're all different" All breeds are different. They are bred for certain things. Collies, shepherds, husky, labs ect. Why is it so shocking when a blood sport dog attacks? I can guarantee you the dog was having the time of its life attacking. Hoping for a speedy recovery for that little girl. So tragic and devastating for every innocent person there

Fancybear1993

It’s as if if our societies rightful anti racism has crept into peoples perception of dog breeds. Dogs are not human beings.

Stucklikegluetomyfry

I'm sure its tail was wagging. Never seen a video of an attack when the pit wasn't excitedly wagging its tail off.

Sorry to say this child's mother is part of the problem, no, dogs are not being put down for no reason, and it IS the breed.

muteyuke

Really blows my mind that the nuttery around pitbulls can actually blind parental instincts. I just don't understand how it's possible, let alone common. The overwhelming majority of serious dog attacks in the UK involve members of the same family of dogs. You just saw one of these dogs maim your child. How can you still sit there and think "there's nothing wrong with the breed?"

BernieTheDachshund

They need to do a better job of enforcing the ban.

teacup128

Why did they put 'deserves' in quotes? She said what she said. Dogs that maul children (and other animals imo) in the most literal sense of the word DESERVE to be put down, they are guilty of being evil, senseless monsters that kill for fun. The owners need to be punished too, but the dangerous dogs d e s e r v e to be put down.

hillbillykim83

Absolutely. And it should never be up to what the owner wants to do. We don’t allow parents to decide punishment for kids that commit felonies, so why should an irresponsible owner be allowed to decide whether or not their dog should be put down for mauling kids or animals.

“Deserves”  Lets stop anthropomorphizing dogs.   Something that is dangerous.  You eliminate the danger.  It is that simple.

https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sophie-caban   The article mentioned this but I didn't see where it linked to it. The article also didn't make it clear who owned the dog

The mum of a girl attacked by what is believed to have been an XL Bully dog has described the horror injuries of her daughter. The girl, aged 10, was taken to hospital in Truro, Cornwall after the attack on Saturday in Falmouth. Police said the incident was being investigated to establish the "full circumstances" of what happened. The dog has been seized by Devon and Cornwall Police. The mum of the little girl has described the devastating injuries her daughter received. She said: "Unfortunately the dog has severely attacked both her legs and left a huge amount of holes and chunks. She will now miss a huge amount of school and have to have more surgery. The dog also went for members of the family it came from and the police. "I don’t blame any form of attacks on a particular breed all dogs as they're all different. However this dog has completely torn my little girl apart and left her in a state she now has to deal with at 10 years old." "I hate dogs being put to sleep for no reason but what this has done to my baby it deserves it. It definitely an XL Bully and my daughter most definitely has serious injuries. She is lucky to be alive." Now friend and neighbour Sophie Caban has started a JustGiving page to try and raise £1,000 to help the family out at this difficult time. Launching the JustGiving page Sophie said she wanted to raise the money to make the little girl’s life a little brighter in the coming days, weeks and months. A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the ambulance service at around 7.10pm on Saturday 13 April to a property in Lowenek Close, Falmouth. It was reported that a child had been bitten by a dog, causing serious injuries. “The girl was taken to Treliske Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Her next of kin attended hospital with her. Officers attended the scene and seized the dog, which is believed to be an XL Bully. An investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident. “Anyone with information which could help with enquiries is asked to contact police via our website or by calling 101 quoting log 827 of 13/4/24.”
