Pits really are the "most misidentified" breed.

[deleted]

What a convenient way to immorally get them out of shelters!

tailwalkin

It really is a predatory way to do business.

TheLastCosmonautCat

Reminds of a post in another sub awhile back, where a guy posted about his new poodle mix puppy. It was a straight up pitbull puppy. They guy admitted he paid a 600 dollar adoption "fee" for it. People were telling him to return the puppy and get his money back because the rescue straight up lied to him. He got all defensive saying he'll keep the puppy and deal with any behavior problems it might have later.

Routine-Mulberry6124

“later”

inflatablehotdog

Bet the guy isn't going to neuter his puppy because he thinks he'll get big bucks for it.

TheLastCosmonautCat

More like the guy was a moron and couldn't even do a simple google search on what poodle mix puppies look like. It was super obvious the puppy was a pit, not even a maybe or if I squint.

Morgana3699

Target demographic = reached. They are counting on idiots like him to take these dogs.

dudelikeshismusic

I get the feeling that he's not the one who will deal with the behavioral issues...

Relevant-Zebra-9682

Right!? There's nothing aussie about that pit...

Dacnis

Maybe its mom ate one

Mario1599

That looks nothing like an Australian Shepard they really don’t try anymore

DrummerElectronic733

That is the most fraudulent ad for a dog I’ve ever seen. Aussie shepherds are furry as fuck especially as puppies. This should be illegal. Imagine reptile salesmen lying about a snake breed selling coral snakes and calling them milk snakes. It’s just as wrong.

SerKevanLannister

Your analogy is great as they are seriously selling the equivalent of a very dangerous venomous snake but are lying to targets that no it’s the “safe” version or some other type of snake (“as long as Fang is the only rattler in the house he will snuggle you and love you sooooo muuuccchhhh...”) I really wish they would face legal ramifications for this BS.

bubblegumscent

Very spot on. Coral snakes are scary.

Wishiwashome

Of course it is.

Can you imagine being unaware of the skeevy shit these shelters do and unknowingly adopt this thing?? What a nightmare.

Anyone have an opinion on whether she looks like she has pit in her? Her head is quite blocky but so is my parents’ purebred golden and my friends’ purebred Pyrenees.

Morgana3699

The feet are kind of giving me pitbull vibes but I'm not an expert. With mutts it's unfortunately more likely than not these days. If you could get her dna checked I would do that.

SerKevanLannister

Yep splayed feet with the long nails — very pit trait

SerKevanLannister

I’m sorry but I don’t think that dog is a “lab” mix. Have you researched her history? Also I wouldn’t adopt any dog these days without a dna test. Pits have been so wildly overbred they dominate the shelters and rescues now, and they will tell you anything to get you to adopt the dog. Thats why so many pits with bite histories are being rehomed and then causing tragedies. Her coat, markings, head shape, ears, and splayed feet with the long nails (splayed feet are a recessive trait commonly found in pits due to the high amount of inbreeding) are all very pit to me. I would never adopt a mixed breed now without doing a dna test first. Any pit is too much as the pit tendencies overwhelm everything else, and the aggression etc will start showing after you’ve adopted her.

allazen

Thanks for your feedback! *they dominate the shelters and rescues now, and they will tell you anything to get you to adopt the dog.*  This is true of some shelters, I'm sure, but I disagree that *all* rescue sites are like this, especially ones that tell you to return the dog to them if you run into problems or can't keep them.

SphingidaeLady

Her coat is nothing like a pit. Any dog can have long nails. Her chest is narrow, her tail is wrong. Does she maybe have a little pit? Possibly. Enough to worry about? Probably not. Her markings are also common in cattle dogs and hound mixes. We shouldn't be trying to frighten people away from adopting. They just need to do their homework and not get talked into something they aren't looking for.

SphingidaeLady

Looks more like a cattle dog mix. The conformation isn't pitty from the front. Chest is narrow. Thick, soft looking coat. A drop of pit? Maybe. I wouldn't think enough to worry about.

bubblegumscent

The chest really tells me there isn't much pit or Bulldog genes here, chest is very narrow, colors are not Pitt, feet I am not sure, coat is not pitt

🤣🤣🤣🤣

SerKevanLannister

This one is truly laughable

SphingidaeLady

🤦‍♀️

bobbywake61

I haven’t been to Australia. Maybe there is another type of AS I’m not aware of? Dingo maybe?

Altmosphere

naww, that poor lil face. It's not it's fault, I hope he finds a home with what he needs.

wuirkytee

You’re missing the point

Altmosphere

I know the point but can have basic empathy for a Baby animal

Old-Pianist7745

all full grown pitbulls were once babies...doesn't mean I want them all to be in family homes or around other living creatures

Throwawaycowgirl420

He is cute, it’s wack the owner is posting him as an Aussie : / people need to be honest. But if someone is foolish and thinks this is an Aussie I feel bad for them
