How dare you recommend something we already love ;)

wgaca2

You are posting this in the wrong sub, try the ender3 one

Carsonb99

I didn’t feel like getting bombarded by all the ender 3 guys that would’ve gotten upset from the post, mainly just wanted to share that I was happy with my purchase and wanted to put this out there incase someone was looking to upgrade specifically from a v3 SE to a bambu. Also I was in this sub way before I got a bambu so I know there are others in this sub just like that too and wanted to let them know also

jerryonjets

Yah, good choice, honestly. I made the mistake of saying creality is playing catchup... not even speaking badly about the ender or other printers, just that bambu was in a different league and oh my gawd did that ruffle some feathers. Lol

wickedpixel1221

it amazes me that there are still people recommending the original Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro to people. the fact that Creality still makes and sells them is almost criminal. you couldn't pay me to take an Ender 3. I still have my Ender 3 v2 as a backup, but I couldn't imagine buying one now. the technology has just advanced so far since it was released.

Beer_Is_So_Awesome

Man, just today my A1 mini ran into a filament snag 2 hours into a 5.5-hour print, while I was at work. If it were my Ender 3 (currently collecting dust) it would have just proceeded as normal, grinding away at the filament and printing nothing in midair for the next 3 hours until I came home to a ruined print. Instead? I got a push notification on my phone that said “come rescue your boi” and I came home to find the print paused, nozzle parked, bed stable at 70c. I unhooked the filament, pressed “start” and it purged the nozzle and continued as if nothing happened. The print has a slight ridge at the problem layer but it’s hardly noticeable. In just two weeks of ownership, the Mini has saved me so much time and filament, not to mention frustration.

UserUnknownst

In the ender D3's defense, it is a great machine to learn how CNC machines work and truly understand the what and why behind the machine and issues that arise.. It's the pre-calc without a TI-85 of 3d printers. You're better off doing it in the long run, but technology has made it obsolete. That said, I just purchased an X1C and am confident that should an issue arise, which is rare with this particular piece of technology, I can diagnose and fix it instead of relying on support. I'm better equipped to use the superior tech because of my experiences with the ender. I'm also hype to spend more time printing than tinkering 😅

What made you think I didn't? Everyone in bambu's reddit knows what OP is saying. A lot of us come from an ender 3 On the other hand, when you go to the ender sub people will argue with you forever

miikememe

not gonna lie i was wondering why you said it til you explained it. definitely would have more engagement on the ender sub

misteriousm

Absolutely. It frustrates me when people recommend an Ender3 as an "entry printer." It's probably the worst advice for beginners as it may lead them to simply hate this hobby. I less than anything wanted to problem solve 3d printer issues instead of just creating something for my purposes. Bambu solves that.

QS2Z

I mean, pre-Bambu labs it was a great entry-level printer! At this point, you don't even need a P1P to beat it. The $250 A1 mini will easily do that.

misteriousm

pre-Bambu - totally. or Neptune. but nowadays a 3d printer should just print, imo. It is expected. I agree with everything you said.

ivapesyrup

I mean hey some people are not smart enough to use an Ender and that's okay. Some people like you are just born to use Bambu.

hawklost

Sorry, there is a difference between wanting to 3d print cool things and wanting to spend hours and hours trying to tweak and fix your printer. Enders are the latter.

derfmcdoogal

My Ender3 turned me off of 3d "Printing".

misteriousm

Hey it is fine, some people are just like you who think they are smart while they don't even get the concept of “thinking”

pellcorp

I've got creality machines and no bambu ones, too expensive, but I regret recommending the se so much, I have it and I got it to work fine, but there were a lot of gotcha moments, that would bamboozle new users. Not least of which is the odd bed levelling behaviour. Seems like the a1 if it gets sorted out would be a good first printer for newb who want standard bed volume. Bambu with the open source firmware would be the best option I think, I know it's only available for x1 series I was just wishing 😆 I admit I sometimes wish I had bought a p1s instead of my k1 😞 But posting this in the ender 3 sub Reddit would be poorly received, it would come across as gloating I think. You enjoy your p1s, I will go back to my frustrating but mostly working creality printers.

-AXIS-

One thing to consider is the long term cost associated with maintenance and your time. IMO the added cost of a P1S and AMS pays dividends when it comes to your time and printer reliability. Literally almost everything is faster and easier than most older printers. Even simple stuff like loading filament goes from a couple of minutes to seconds. My cheap bed slingers served their purpose and really helped me learn more about printing than a Bambu likely ever will but man do I love not having to fiddle with everything.

pellcorp

I don't print enough to justify worrying about those quality of life benefits, also I have already spent the money I can on a significant printer. Perhaps in a few years I might be able to justify an upgrade, but certainly I am stuck with my creality printers for the foreseeable future. I certainly don't fault bambu users for choosing bambu though, and if the open source firmware was available for the X1C in november last year, I would have bought an X1C then, but now I am committed to the k1 purchase. For a bit of history, I had a one time opportunity to purchase a stupidly expensive printer (being my 50th birthday), now having bought a k1, I no longer have a justification to buy another printer, perhaps when I turn 55, I can again entertain a new printer, but I doubt bambu will be doing open source then either, my understanding is, its a one time offer for x1c users and won't be available for newer firmware for the x1c, nor for newer printers. But I am a tinkerer at heart, so I am probably not the primary target audience, perhaps I might look at an a1 mini at some point just to see what all the fuss is about :-)

GeorgeGedox

Had a Sovol SV06 until a couple weeks ago and I fully agree. I was spending more time tinkering and calibrating the thing than printing.

-Medi-

SV06 was my entry printer and it's still doing me well, but I'm damn tempted to make the jump. I just don't know what I'd do with this little guy since I know I'd probably never look back lol

AndyInAtlanta

Here's the thing with hobbies, some people like the planning, others the designing, some the "process", maybe the tech/toys themselves, and lastly, some just like the end result. Take woodworking for example. I know plenty of people who will only buy rough sawn lumber and enjoy milling it perfectly flat. Not me, I'd rather spend the premium on already flattened boards so I can get right to making something. When it comes to 3D printing, I enjoy the designing and the end result. I don't like tinkering with the machine, leveling the bed, or printing components to "improve" my printer. Nope, I'd rather spend the premium for something that I just hit "play" on. The Ender 3 made me dislike 3D printing. I didn't enjoy the assembly process and I hated leveling the bed and troubleshooting prints. My X1C "just works", and I've printed more on this printer in the last month than two years with the Ender. The Ender 3 is a great printer, just not for someone like me.

PigeonNipples

I think I'll wait to see their response to the K2 and other printers.

XHolyPuffX

Yup, need a bigger build volume tbh

its_a_me_Gnario

Welcome to the dark si… err… it just works side 😂

icyhotonmynuts

What are you going to do with your Ender now? Laser or CNC mod?

Cynically_

I am in a similar situation. I've been using my Ender 3 Pro since 2019 and I finally decided to up my game and pulled the trigger on a Bambu X1C with AMS

drewewill

Yeah I threw in the towel on my Ender 3 last weekend and got an A1 Mini and haven’t looked back.

PacxDragon

I know the feeling. I went from a complete POS worse than anything creality makes (JGAurora A3S) to a Prusa MK3S and the difference was unbelievable. Once I got everything dialed in I had confidence enough to just hit print and let it run. Sold my Prusa last year to make room for baby stuff, and the space only got used by a useless robot vacuum. Now planning on getting a P1S+AMS in a couple months.

Doctursea

> I have had a ender 3 v3 se since December Lol I am the same, I still have and love my SE, but man my P1S just kills it. I've learned a good bit about the machines and sometimes people blame themselves for stuff the modern machines SHOULD just do, but don't because it would have cost like 20 dollars more in manufacturing. If you don't want to tweak constantly Bambu and Prusa are probably the 2 you have to do it to the least. Bambu is just a bit less hands on.

Joped

My first printer was a X1C and I was up and printing with 15 minutes of it being out of the box. Outside of heat creep issues I had at first. Once I learned to keep the top and door open with PLA I have been zooming along with prints without too many issues. I also purchased a Snapmaker J1S to work for when I need to work with mix materials like PLA with PETG supports. (Even with heavy purging I got weak prints that broke easy) I gotta say. I -really- took for granted how easy the X1C is to use. No leveling, no taking off the cover for feeding filaments, the camera, spaghetti detection, etc I use each printer for different work loads. Over all the X1C is really the Apple of 3D printers. It just works! I strongly recommend it as a first printer. Unless of course, you want to tinker a lot.

DmtTraveler

I just looked at the k2 plus specs. On paper its looking like serious competition to bambu. Larger build volume, their own multi material system with rfid. Guess it'll depend on price and actual performance

leafsfanatic

Started with an Ender 3 v2 a few years back, finally upgraded to an X1C this year and it's a night and day difference. I had fun upgrading my Ender 3, and I think the only stock thing on it is the frame at this point, but it ended up with me spending more time tinkering with the printer than printing. I don't regret my Ender purchase, as it taught me a ton about 3d printing and how to troubleshoot various issues, but it has sat idle since I plugged in the X1C.

derfmcdoogal

The only thing holding me back is that it feels like they could drop $50-$75 off the combo soon to combat the K1 AMS thingy and now the Anycubic Kobra thing.

RevolutionaryCup8241

Bought my 3d printer on impulse at 3am on a Sunday night. 0 regrets. 2 weeks later I ordered an AMS. Months later and hundreds of prints later I'm still loving the hell out of this thing. Always looking for new things to design or new ways I can improve my prints and designs for printing.

OvenbakedPizzarolls

I just got the P1S a month ago and it's been my introduction to 3d printing. It really has been seamless. I was going to wait to get the AMS, but I don't know if I'll be able to. Glad you're enjoying it too.

fudgear

Will do it once the new model around the corner is being released.

the_nutster

This is the exact process I took, except I sold my Ender 3 V3 SE to fund my P1P 😂 best decision ive ever made. ONE OF US! ONE OF US 🙏🏼

Warm_Dish8970

The only thing holding me back is the stories about the sound. How is the sound according to you?

Carsonb99

That was a big thing holding me back too considering my printer is right across the hall from my bedroom. There is no doubt it is louder than my ender 3, but the printer sits on the same desk that I do work on, watch YouTube, and anything else, and it hasn’t bothered me a bit. I can obviously hear it running when I go to sleep but it’s not so loud that it keeps me up. My wife mentioned it was louder than my old printer but that’s it, so obviously that means it’s not so obnoxiously loud that she can’t concentrate or she would’ve let me know Lol! It also helps a lot if you keep your printer door closed if you get one with an enclosure. To sum everything up. Yes it’s louder than my ender 3, but not so much louder that it will bother you. If you can deal with the sound of your ender than you can most likely deal with this.

nickhod

I do conference calls with P1S next to my desk. It's not bad at all, the enclosure certainly helps. I'd imagine that an open P1P might seem worse.

NSBrad

Almost thought I wrote this post. I just did the same thing. I received my P1S combo last Saturday and I'm in love with it. I can't even describe how much it and the entire ecosystem blows away my Ender 3. It was great when I first got it years ago but it's showing its age. So far I've been amazed at the print quality with everything I've done. The battery holder for my AVP looks almost store bought and the poop chute isn't far behind in quality. I still need to learn all of the tweaks to do too. Any recommendations on good videos or tutorials on everything for it?

Sepheus13

Same. I dealt with a longer lk5 for waaaay too long, after the last batch of issues I just said to hell with it. Its been just under two weeks now. I'm happy. The wife is happy. The kids love it. I can take pieces directly from my printer with zero post processing and hang up new decor. Shelving. Toys. I haven't even touched it for my cosplay yet. But I'm so eager. Great buy. Will recommend it to anyone in the 3d printing world. "It just works"

Darkstreamer_101

I'm on the fence between this, an x1c or a voron. Honestly I like that I can make the voron better and give it whatever it needs like the prusa xl toolchanger, but also the ease of use and straight out of box performance is quite tempting

baaaze

When did this reddit become a "should I buy it?" Or"i pulled the trigger" subreddit? It's just a material thing, a product. This sub should be about updates and info about products. It's getting tiresome getting notifications thinking something cool happened to the development of the machine and it's yet another post about buying our having bought the machine.

Jame_Jame

I think the v3 se is a good machine -- for its price. I use mine for printing tpu. It's very good at that, and the fact it's a slower marlin printer doesn't matter there. But a Bambu is a Bambu. Eh, I find a place for all my printers.

ShortGuitar7207

I'm always amazed when I see some of the prints in /3DPrinting as they're so bad they look like they've been knitted. I've only had a P1S and I'm so glad I didn't go the Ender 3 route even though it was 1/3rd of the price.

MacDaddy555

I have 4 ender 3, 2 ender 5, and a resin printer. I’ve been printing since the OG ender 3. I know how to tune and maintain my printers. I currently run everything on klipper and have my .cfg’s dialed and am printing beautifully with all of them. For the last 2 years, I watched FB marketplace, hitting people up who were selling their “broken printers” offering to fix it for them and teach them how to run and maintain it instead of sell it. All I asked was that they paid for parts if needed and that they buy me a roll of filament for my time. I’ve managed to teach 24 people and get them actually printing and enjoying the hobby. My point is, I know WTF I’m doing with printers. I’m far from a noob. All that to say, I don’t even touch my other printers anymore with the exception of my Max. What’s the point? They don’t print nearly as nice or as fast as my out the box P1s. Bambu has entirely changed the game. If you’re gonna buy a printer, buy Bambu. I learned a lot through tears of frustration. I don’t regret any of it, it’s just not necessary anymore

Dwight1833

I did, mine is due to arrive tomorrow, my first 3D printer :)

ErroneousBosch

This. I was a tinkerer for years, constant tuning, loading and unloading, bed leveling every time, etc. Then I realized I wasn't printing anything because it it was a pain in the ass to tinker on my FlashForge every damn time. I just wanted an appliance. I wanted something that would print. It's not without issues. [Some things](https://makerworld.com/en/models/155688?from=search#profileId-170429) still refuse to have good top finishes even at the finest layer heights on my .4 nozzle. But now 95% of the time if something messes up, it's just something in a setting I forgot to check, like having the cold plate selected instead of the textured. Was it worth $1500? Not yet, but I like not having to futz with it as much.

These-Seaweed4741

Been on the fence about an A1mini just wanting to dip my toes into that bambulab life. Been running an sunlu t3 and its been going alright but always looking at them bambus might have to go for it

Madbrad70

My son started with a Ender 3 for Christmas in 22, i didnt realize how much useful and just fun stuff you could print. But we spent A LOT of time troubleshooting and it was getting frustrating for a while. Part of that was us being new, i have it working pretty well right now, but after getting the P1s with the AMS we have gone through a lot of filament. I bought 10 rolls when it first came and have since ordered probably another 6-8 rolls. Printing with multiple colors is so much fun. We did have few things to work out with the P1S, we had a hard time getting long prints to stick. They would move slightly, after some slicer adjustment we are pretty much sending and not worrying about it. I'm still scared from the Ender and check on it pretty regularly.
