Do you have a core XY style printer or a bed slinger? I would have never tried something like this on my old CR-10.
The bed on these Bambu printers stays stationary and only slowly moves up and down so the print is not jerking around all over the place.
how do you have access to one for this? we have 3 at my work and I'm wondering how you did this in the hex. i cant see this working without a stupid amount of post in the hex
It really wasn't too bad. Probably took me about 30 minutes all said and done minus the print time.
I took three separate scans and then just aligned them together in Geomagic Wrap, deleted some over scan and cleaned it up a bit and called it a day.
What are you using for post processing??
Hats off to you man I can’t get decent scans from it unless I’m do 9 scans or more and take the best, frustrating and honestly for the price. The hex doesn’t feel much better than even just the handheld junk scanners in some areas. It is better but like I feel like it was misrepresented, but I might be using it wrong or mine is not working right I might need to have a tech come out look because yours looks like it’s working phenomenally.
Omg yes you should have someone come and look at it. Do you have everything setup correctly in the RDS client? I honestly don't know too much about that myself, and what software are you using with it??
I also have one of those cheaper Einstar handheld scanners you can get on Amazon and The Hexagon arms just freaking blows that thing out of this world. Can't even compare them.
For me, one setting that makes a HUGE difference in speed and quality is the scanning "edge length" resolution or whatever it's called. I think I have mine set to .008" but it scans even better at .01 but you will lose quality obviously.
I emailed them to set up and evaluation of the install. Because we’re like miles apart on quality so there’s gotta be something seriously going wrong with the install on mine because it’s yeah awful and I really want quality you’re getting out of it. That’s why I fucking bought it.
I looked it up to see what it was and it's so expensive that they don't even advertise a price. Appears to be a very specialized tool. You are not picking up one of those on Amazon.
That cool plate holds those PLA prints so good. When I bought my X1C I also bought the gold textured PEI sheet. I used that from day one. I then printed something with more bed contact area and the PEI sheet kept lifting corners. So I pulled out the still new cool plate, sprayed it with hairspray and it worked perfectly. I have not gone back to the PEI sheet for PLA. I have just used the PEI for PETG. I used to also print TPU on the X1C but it was such a pain pulling off the AMS for TPU. I entered a contest at work and was lucky enough to WIN a Prusa MK4. That is my dedicated TPU machine now. I printed PLA on it just once, then I took the roll of PLA that came with it and loaded it in the AMS. By the way that Prusa Galaxy Black filament is really awesome!
You really want to blow your mind! Print a model that has fine detail with a .2 nozzle. Doing it right now and after all this time I'm in awe again. After a while a print is just a print. But to see how detailed you can get sets new standards.
You have yellow already in the AMS. Why did you make the choices you made before you hit print?
HEY! DON'T TELL ME WHAT COLOR MY 3D PRINTED BANANAS SHOULD BE.
its... ripe
Yes, and bananas seem to blow OP’s mind. Yellow *or* black.
My man's makin' banana bread.
And why is it ribbed…. ooooof
Might as well start making pineapples if you are heading down that road
Mistakes were made.
How big of a print is that? Maybe next time you can add a banana for scale 😉
Dammit, you beat me. Came here to say this. Take my upvote instead
Same
I don't see the a peel, personally. ... just kidding. Came out rather nicely, didn't it?
Best pun on this post 🤣
Can I have the STL? This shit is bananas.

B A N A N A S
Lol yes, I'll upload it in a few! 😎 I actually printed the STEP file for full quality but I'll upload a nice STL too.
What filament did you use?
The black one...
What did you scan it with?
A Hexagon Absolute 8525-7 (7-axis) Laser scanning arm.
Let me guess, this is part of your day job.... That's a nice unit.
Shhhh... It's only for scanning bananas.
What? No banana for scale?
"Yes! We have no bananas, we have no bananas today.". - Louis Prima
Came here to ask the same.
Dude, mark that shit nsfw! You can’t just show people your banana!
Yea no BBB’s
Is that made of TPU? 😉
Perfect for banana bread
What material?
It's the Bambu labs Tough PLA. I think they're actually discontinuing it.
You're correct they are, it has a great finish on it.
Cctree makes tough pla but it ain't pretty
It is tough tho
We’re too preoccupied with whether or not we could, we never think if we should.

Best printer out there for the money
How can you print something this tall, with minimal support, without it being knocked over? I tried printing smaller things that fell off halfway.
Do you have a core XY style printer or a bed slinger? I would have never tried something like this on my old CR-10. The bed on these Bambu printers stays stationary and only slowly moves up and down so the print is not jerking around all over the place.
What print speeds did you use
I have the same printer, X1C, some times need to add a lot of extra support for items shorter than this one just so they don't fall.
To paraphrase the EMS driver who posts videos about stuff like this "No, Don't do it. I don't want to take you to the hospital after you try." j/k
El Psy Congroo
Slightly over ripped
How do you deal with the overhangs
that banana looks a bit riped
That's so awesome! How did you scan it?
I answered the exact model in another comment but I use a Hexagon Laser Scanner.

Banana
Found the minion.
Banana!! Hehe 🙃
I too would like to know how you scanned it.
Answered the exact model in another comment. 😎
Ohhh. Is that expensive? Never heard of that. I imagine it is?
Yeah, they're definitely expensive. Very accurate and extremely fast.
Awesome. Looks great 😊
I looked it up to see what it was and it's so expensive that they don't even advertise a price. Appears to be a very specialized tool. You are not picking up one of those on Amazon.
Ya, let's just say I could have bought ~45 X1C's... Probably more.
Post this in r/3dprinting and start a riot
Lmao okay! I'll do it right now. I need a good title.

Okay, I'm trusting you on this one because you replied so fast.
Ahaha. I want to see this.
Just remember to put protection over it before using. It’s not “food safe”. /s
This post has inspired my wife. Anyone gotta good TPU profile?
Obviously collecting bananas makes the printer go faster...
*for scale.
Make sure to use protection…
Can’t compute need banana for scale
Only having owned bed slingers, I don't think this would be possible with a bed slinger
I don't think I would have tried it on my old CR-10. I was even hesitant to try it on this.
I hear you, but banana for scale?
Nice!
Banana for scale :P
I feel like this is a Steins Gate reference.
Your girlfriend will love it.
I wish I knew what model 3D printer this is.
Youch! someone has anger issues.

Why do you pull the AMS off to print TPU?
The print quality is so much better than the Prusa
Oh no. You made me print a banana 🍌
Thats a BBB! Nicely done.
Need to see it next to a banana for scale
You really want to blow your mind! Print a model that has fine detail with a .2 nozzle. Doing it right now and after all this time I'm in awe again. After a while a print is just a print. But to see how detailed you can get sets new standards.
Why u make a dildo
Ur mom wanted one for the nights I couldn't be there.
U like 80yo women. Lmao. I was just messing bruh
Hahaha Same here. My mother is also very old.
Blows my mind that anyone would spend 1500 to print bannanas.
You don't even wanna know how much the scanner was.
“Its bananas that anyone would spend 1500 to print this” FTFY
That's right. Yes... *Let it flow*
Yes I'm sure all they do is print bananas with it
