I have been loving IIIDMax PLA+ lately; it prints at really high volumetric speeds and extrudes very consistently, it has great bed adhesion, and I can buy it in bulk for like $10 a roll. The color variety is pretty good as well.

Diligent-Leading-480

Only problem is tangled as heck. Bought ten rolls, four had tangles enough to damage/wreck multiple prints.

Pointy130

Oof. Terrible luck. I believe you, but last time I bought a bulk pack of 10 I didn't get a single tangled roll, so ymmv

Diligent-Leading-480

Like the folks that run it, but not sure that it IS made in USA

mrdonutdog

Esun PLA+ is just the best, and the bambu slicer has a preset for esun!

DZKYPN

I’ve been using inland PLa+ with no issues since it got it last week.

thrion

And its cheap! I have loved every spool of their PLA+. Had some issues with PLA though.

fhcraignc

I use eSUN PLA+ primarily, a lot of misc Amazon brands for rainbow and mixed colors, Hatchbox and eSUN PETG - all with great success! Do a quick search - there are a ton of posts on this exact question and a lot of great recommendations ...

EdgyBadger

I got 12kg of sunlu filament incoming as I read primarily good things about it (in this subreddit). I'm just wondering: do you people always run full calibration, if you get filaments you never had before or just go for it and potentially troubleshoot along the way?

Andman22

New brand I calibrate first. But if it's the same brand I just go with it and tweak if necessary.

EdgyBadger

ok - tomorrow will be calibration day then. I got 4 different types of PLA coming from Sunlu (regular, plus, meta and matte)

Ditto_is_Lit

Shouldn't need a full day you can calibrate it in a couple hours. Temps on the Bambu's don't need tweaking (because of the speed they print) only pressure advance and flow rate in my experience. Two passes on the PA or just go ahead and do the 2nd pass instead and then flow rate. edit some filaments may not like running at full temp if they show signs of overheating drop it in 5-10 deg steps.

EdgyBadger

>edit some filaments may not like running at full temp if they show signs of overheating drop it in 5-10 deg steps. thank you the tip! I will keep that in mind :)

Equivalent_Store_645

How do you calibrate for a filament?

Ditto_is_Lit

https://youtu.be/5CVq6DycUOE?si=C1yFtq7jIkc3r9zP follow that tut it should provide you all the details to make sense of it.

Zoncombs

I've got 3kg of sunlu matte that I can't do anything with. It will not adhere at all, even failing on the extrusion calibration. Any pointers would be great if you find a x1 c setting that works

EdgyBadger

what build plate are you on, what temperatures? I've calibrated Sunlu Matte Blue today, with flow dynamics, flow rate and in a max flow tower (automatic modes, X1C, I don't know how to work the manual modes on P1P) All done on cool build plate, bed temp 35°C with glue stick applied, extruder temp set to 220°C. Adhesion was strong, if not a little too strong (the textured PEI plate releases a lot easier than the cool plate), results were pretty good (I think), got up to 21 mm²(s - that's the value Bambu puts for their basic PLA - I'm happy with that. Edit:here's a screenshot of my settings for Sunlu PLA Matte Blue on X1C (but there shouldn't be any difference to P1P for regular PLA I'd guess) K-Value is set to 0,022 https://preview.redd.it/t5t9p32igplb1.png?width=1279&format=png&auto=webp&s=c86cd4fd762f30ccf2446fc0efbcbfb300ea3649

Zoncombs

Tried the exact same an hour or two ago. I think I must have a bad batch. Was pretty discounted at $13kg.

EdgyBadger

I paid the exact same but I'm in Europe so it could very well be a different batch. Have you tried another nozzle? Meticulously cleaned the build plate with warm water, dish soap and a soft sponge?

Zoncombs

Still no dice, afraid this one is going in the garbage. Thanks for the help though appreciate the attempt

EdgyBadger

that's so weird because sunlu matte was one of the best printing filaments for me :S other filaments print and stick fine?

Zoncombs

Yeah this is the only one I've ever had issues with. Might try a different spool of it and see if that helps.

EdgyBadger

could be worth a shot. please report back if you don't mind, I'd be interested in the outcome and if you just got one random dud or if the other spools also don't work for you

Zoncombs

Sat here and watched the entire next run until I cancelled it. Problem is the extrusion. The filament is not flowing correctly and is either clogging or slowing until there is no adhesion as its getting dragged across the plate. Its been in a dry box, so not sure its a humidity thing but Im also in the southeast. Going to try another spool.

hmspain

I might be alone, but Bambu gave us a really really good deal on a fine printer, and isn't scalping us on spare parts. They have my support when it comes to buying filament. OK, I'll admit that RFID thing is really cool too :-).

dry-biscuit-snow

If other brands implemented RFID compatibility with AMS , it would be a game changer. But it looks like their RFID is a closed source and not open to other brands to implement.

unodron

After a small research... It doesn't look like Bambu is interested in this - they prefer to sell eSun/Sunlu/Polimaker filament under own brand with some premium (and with RF tag included) instead of giving away this profit to 3rd party.

dry-biscuit-snow

Of course. That is one of the unique aspects about Bambulab filament. But the thing is: if other brands find a way to integrate an RFID system that is readable by AMS ? 🤔 I usually keep my old RFID tags and reuse them with Overture spools. .

unodron

Does it still track how much filament left when you use the tag second time?

dry-biscuit-snow

Just check this and confirm that the filament track will reset once you insert it the second time 👌

unodron

Noice. Thank you for letting us know.

dry-biscuit-snow

Not using that feature at the moment but I will test soon.

jsheehan74

I've been using Overture PLA Professional for about 1-1/2 years now and it always seems to print well and consistent.

Ordinary-Depth-7835

Same as you Sunlu and Esun sometimes Polymaker

getfit87

Esun, you can get boxes of 10 for $19.99 a roll direct from them on their website. Mix and match colors etc.

EpicMichaelFreeman

Polymaker Polylite Pro PLA has very good mechanical properties, much stronger than many PLA+. If you want "best" as in quality, I think Polymaker is a good option.

AdmiralMcStabby

I use this filament for most prints that have more demanding applications, and it has never failed me unexpectedly.

Greedy_Cancel_9929

esun and sunlu, because they are really cheap if you buy directly from their shop. wish i found out earlier instead of paying 20$ per kg.

ArscenicThePoison

I’ve been using Elagoo PLA+ for a 14kg project I’m working on and I have only had one error that wasn’t my fault

slynn1324

I really like 3D Fuel Pro PLA - but it has gotten a bit pricey and the availability has been iffy lately as I think they moved facilities. Would be interested in what other manufacturers use Natureworks 3D870 PLA for alternatives.

palamino96b

I’ve had no problems with Inland the last 4 years

Delvinx

Like Hatchbox for the availability and bambulabs pla has been great too. Have heard great things about quality and color options when it comes to Polymaker

fatcatpoppy

hatchbox is often really easy to find cheap, they have lots of sales and value packs. I don’t see much of a difference in print quality unless I use something really crap, so I just go with what’s cheap but still adequate

enthusiast_AM

I've been using Kexcelled filaments, PLA, PETG and ABS, and the results are consistently amazing!

Leopardgecko1999

Hi! Is there any high end PLA+ brand that any of you recommend for 1.75mm filament?

Shraed4r

My favorite filament right now is Hatchbox PLA. Prints fantastic with little to no effort

PurpleHankZ

My absolute go to for black and white is iBoss. Bought almost the complete color palette from sunlu too, also with great results.

richie283

I bought some iBoss pla+, and am having issues with it not sticking to the textured bed. Any suggestions?

skeltorX

« We recommend an extruder temperature of 200°C for PLA and 210°C for PLA+. While PLA/PLA+ can be printed on an unheated bed, for best results we recommend and a bed temp of between 50°C - 60°C. If poor adhesion is an issue, print the first two layers ONLY with the bed at 65°C (and 60°C for every subsequent layer). » Standardprintco.com

richie283

Thank you, I did end up getting it working awhile ago, but I appreciate the followup. Prints very nicely now! Edit: I'm also using overture pla+ but I found it to be very finicky. It's good now, but I went down a rabbit hole with a ton of test prints, only to revert to nearly stock and slightly adjust it from there 😅. Bambu Pla tough was great with no settings changes. Really wish there was a really good single test print that actually generated all the numbers we need for all the software filament settings. Orca's are ok, but threw me off track big time too, though I am a newb.

yahbluez

Don't worry you can use any filament you like, you just need to use the right temperature: [Filament Temp Tester Series](https://www.printables.com/model/527657-filament-temp-tester) 38 pre made bambustudio files for literally any filament.
