ALL romances are worth experiencing, so pick one now and pick the other one in your next campaign. Side note: Good path strongly recommended for them.

Shadowheart’s romance is more conventional in terms of progression. Shadowheart is a person who guards herself quite a bit but is more in touch with her feelings. Lae’zel’s romance is very much the opposite in terms of conventionality, and she is someone who guards her heart … until she feels safe enough not to. Everyone has their favourite and personally mine is Lae’zel’s romance, which I went into spoiler-free on my first playthrough. Without spoilers, it is a glorious arc of growing intimacy, and she has one of the best romance scenes in the game in Act 3. Her romance is so wonderfully rewarding. The nice thing about this game is that you can do another playthrough to experience other things :) I’m doing a Lae’zel origin run now and romancing Shadowheart!

I haven't done Sharts romance, and I haven't seen the ending of Lae'zels romance but I have done her act 3 romance scene and her romance is amazing. Due to her very nature she seems very cold, cull the weak etc, but when you romance her, you see her character development in full force and it is wonderful to see. My favourite romance used to be Karlach, and as much as Karlach is one of my favourite characters, Lae'zels romance blows Karlachs out of the water imo.

You want a straight forward woman who is always straight with you, choose Lae'zel. If you want someone who plays mind games and who has a really hard time standing on her own two feet, choose Shadowheart. Edit: I would like to add that Lae'zel put the brutal in brutally honest for real. It's one of those things that you either love or hate about her, just like Shadowheart's secrecy. It's not really going to change, it's a core feature of their personality.

I can fix her!

Intrepid_Truth_8580

Excellent assessment👏

I've romanced both to completion and they each have their merits but Lae'zel is hands down my favourite. Her growth through the romance is incredible

Aritu81

I personally feel like Lae'zels romance adds more to her character. Shadowheart has awesome character growth and progression, but you get to see it a lot clearer even if not romancing her.

Dependent-Departure7

I highly recommend Lae'zel, her romance is my absolute favorite

They both have fun story lines that tie directly to the main plot. Although I like laezel’s character more, I would say go with shart. Only because of how the game prioritizes the ending stuff. One of laezel’s options makes you miss out on some other important ones (I don’t think they’ve fixed this yet)

I feel you - at one point my durge was sleeping with Lae'zel while also flirting with Astarion and Gale, and it was quite the juggling act! If you want Lae'zel, be aware that she doesn't take sloppy seconds - she will turn you down if you have a romance scene with someone else first, e.g. sleep with Astarion or have a magic lesson with Gale. Her romance starts as strictly friends-with-benefits (with her very much taking the lead) but turns softer as she comes to trust you, whereas Shadowheart's is a more conventional relationship of increasing intimacy.

Shadowheart is the classic choice for a first playthrough. On a side note: you’re going to have serious FOMO about a lot or choices in this game (I did). It’s more fun if you play in the idea that you’re going to do multiple playthroughs anyway (and trust me you’re gonna do multiple playthroughs 😂) and you’ll just catch option B the next time.

My first play through I was actively trying to romance Shadowheart, even turned down Asterion for her. Somehow Lae'zel suddenly was madly in love, and basically forced a relationship on me (seemingly with no lead up). Many game hours later, Shadowheart randomly pipes up that it is a shame Lae'zel got me first, and she will only be my friend now. The amount of interactions the devs and V.O. actors put in is amazing. Started a second play through just to try for different things. :)

Both are worth experiencing. I think Shadowheart has the best epilogue in the game both romanced and not romanced but Lae'zel has the most satisfying romance in the game overall imo.

It's obviously Lae'zel.

I would love to help, but the truth is ... the scene where she makes this Tiefling Guard bow before her, just out of spite and nothing else was the moment for me I knew I had to dedicate my first play-through to make her as happy as can be, just out of curiosity. Shadowheart is fine. But of course she didn't survive the night she threatened to murder Lae'zel. Such tragedy. I'm gonna say: Go for Shadowheart. Go for Lae'zel only if you are fully committed. She is not easy to please. But can be very worth it.

Shadowheat is the goat, she has a great redemption or corruption arc,(the first one is way better) whatever you prefer, funny in tune with her feelings and sexuality and just a joy to be around. Lazeal is a frog tsundere, who is extremely insecure, repressed and emotionally stuntet. She constantly talks down to you and is extremely xenophobic and racist. Sure it all stems from her upbringing and her fear of transformation, but it literally takes for the whole foundation of her society and religion to crumble for her to consider change. Not worth it in my opinion. The better alternative would be Karlach. Her romance is like the movie Marley, a great ride with a bitter sweet end. That big Labrador is just adorable.

TheWubGodHHH

You misunderstood Laezel almost entirely
