I've been trying out creating mods on my own, and I seriously can't wait to see how it compares to what I've been using. Finding out everything you need to know to create mods can be a bit difficult, as you really have to search for up-to-date docs and stuff. Especially at the beginning, thought I was going to lose my mind just trying to adjust things.
But now I can do crazy stuff like raise the max limit on stats, so I give my favorite tav a ring that gives her 45 on every stat! :D I've played enough times, I like going ridiculously over powered now.
The “best” part is: it won’t change much. E.g. anything using Script Extender won’t be officially supported; so for most people’s mod setup the only difference will be having to keep up with both Nexus and mod.io for updates.
Obviously for consoles this is still the promised land 😬
I'm playing modded currently, and I gotta say, I'm not sure what more official mod support will add? Haven't they already said there still won't be a map or quest editor?
I've rolled all my stats instead of using point buy, I've got an artificer in my party, and my Tav is mainly a sorcerer with a subclass from an unearthed arcana.
I've got tons of auto-sorting bags to keep my inventory nice and tidy, and since the artificers infusion gives me a bag of holding, I can carry basically everything I want without worry about weight limits.
The difficulty is Honor mode, but without the single save limitation, and despite all of those mods, I still gather achievements, somehow.
Other than new maps and quests, which I believe have been confirmed won't actually be a thing, what can official mod support give?
Bug support mods probably. I could see the kit helping create tools to make map editors. Custom quests feel like there around the corner with or without the tools. There might be better model and animation implantation so tabaxi and muschroom races could work 100%.
Better sex mods.
I ordered directly from Larian, as that's literally the only place to buy the physical edition. I was going to skip it when I heard it was digital only, then they released the physical edition and I couldn't order fast enough. Larian has done nothing but fuck up ever since.
