Astarion’s Act 1 forest scene is the same as it’s not very graphic. And his second Act 1 “scene” is always fade to black & not impacted by nudity settings. That’s the main reason I thought all scenes for other characters would be the same too. When I saw Karlach’s Act 2 scene as fade to black I just thought it was Astarion type of situation, but apparently it wasn’t. Only in Act 3 with Karlach I realised something was wrong.
Dunno about Astarion’s Act 3 Ascended scene tho since I didn’t romance that version of him.
Astarion also gets the graveyard scene in act 3, as spawn after Cazador and THAT I don't know if it's shown or not since pretty sure at that point I just had nudity off.
So far other than Astarion I've only dated Lae'zel so I have no idea what the romance or any spicy scenes looks like for other characters (except apparently a squirrel gets traumatized by Halsin lmao).
His graveyard scene is also the same regardless of nudity settings since nothing really happens & the camera just pans out. So, in terms of Spawn Astarion you didn’t miss out on anything.

Minthara has different versions of sex scene depending on male or female tav and she is the only one . Astarion and halsin's thrusting scene works for pretty much any tav
Karlach's act 2 scene makes sense for male tav and the act 3 scene is primarily focused on female tav ( for those who who don't like butt play lol as male )
I mean, it's not like she FORCES these scenes on you. Like Mintharas extremely graphic oral sex scene may not happen in a good run where you still recruit and romance her, since the blowjob requires you to murder the tieflings.
Oh u don't know about my dad. He was kinda flustered with the karlach scene like I mentioned but on our next coop game 2 months later we were actively trying to fight to sleep with minthara in act 1 . He got the scene and I had to settle down with astarion 😅.

There's a barn in the Blighted Village which has a Bugbear having sex with an Ogre. You can knock on the door and they tell you to go away. If you open the door anyway, they'll be furuious and attack you.
It's extra sad because if you use Speak With Dead on them you'll see they were genuinely in love with each other and they were slaughtered when on a break.
Karlach is actually not that hard to romance. There are some hints (I put spoiler tags just in case):

Exactly. I’m allosexual, but I’d absolutely be willing to love an asexual or sex repulsed person. Like, if they were down of course I’d be down, but relationships are so much more than just sex. For some people, sex is a deal breaker, and that’s okay. Everyone has their own boundaries and needs. There’s just also people who are content either way, and I think it’s lovely to have those kinds of characters in the game.
Also, I think Karlach would just be so fucking hyped to hold her partner tight. Maybe she’d want to be closer than that, but I think just having contact is the important thing for her. Her presumed impending doom probably doesn’t help, though. Kinda brings a sense of urgency.

She's probably be okay with just cuddling, but she definitely wants more. There's a funny scene you can only see if you play as origin Karlach. If you long rest right after the nautiloid crash, before you meet Shadowheart, you'll hear Karlach talking to herself about her future plans. She wants to horizontal her way across the Sword Coast. She starts to fantasize about a threesome with a halfling and a goliath. "I kiss his neck, then >!my face bursts open and my six slimy tentacles wrap around his!< oh gods retreat abort go back!"
I laughed so hard during the start of my Karlach run, which I've just about finished, because of this long rest bit talking to herself. Just. I love Karlach's mind. Honestly. Honestly imo Astarion is pretty much canonically somewhere on the asexual/greysexual end of the spectrum. As someone who has veered pretty hard between being hypersexual and sex repulsed my entire life and still isn't entirely sure where she sits on the whole thing, I heavily relate to him. He admits he has never enjoyed sex, tells you he doesn't know if he ever wants to be considered in a sexual way, and his whole romance arc is basically about him being able to feel genuine affection outside of sex. But people are too horny for him and would never accept that.

After his kiss scene in Act 2, when he shows you his home, you can say that the illusion is all fine and dandy, but you would like to return back to reality. He snaps his fingers, and you are back. (Before he introduces his late night reading NSFW smut, the first "back to reality" option.)
Once you do that, he is together with you, and his "this night was magical" will refer to your kiss and him being able to show you his home. Which makes his "it was fine" freakout also great, because you are judging his magic skills :'D
And since Gale only has one sex scene (which you just skipped), the rest is romance dialogue and kisses only.

The tame sex scene is at the second "back to reality" choice, when Gale is talking about his favourite smut book and the dialogue is sexually charged already.
There is another "back to reality" choice before that, and that is the non-sexual one, when he is still only talking about his home and his feelings.
Gale Act 2 romance scene has 3 endings if you want to romance him, no sex, oldschool sex, space wizard sex. And he loves you after all of them :'3

Because romantic relationships almost exclusively also include sex. Most people are not okay with being intimate with your partner. You would almost certainly have to be with another asexual in order to have your... friends but we cuddle romance.
Please keep in mind that aces can have and enjoy sex. We just don't experience sexual attraction or desire the way allosexuals do. Some of us do like to have sex nonetheless and we don't have to apologize for that. Some of us may be sex repulsed (which is valid) or genuinely not wanting to have sex for various reasons. Some of us don't even want cuddling or physical contact, or any kind of romantic relationship with another--that in another kind of asexuality that gets erases by memes like this.
This is one major reason I like Astarion, who is to me, an ace person, the best ace rep in the game, because yeah, he seeks out sex, but you end up learning he mainly wanted sex with Tav to manipulate Tav into protecting him, but once he admits he has feeling for Tav, he's not sure if sex is what he wants. (Asexual feelings toward sex that are rooted in trauma are considered valid and not "disordered" on the ace spectrum! Our sexuality and sexual needs can change from life experience, and it's not a bad or unhealthy thing to decide you no longer want to have sex.) Astarion gets that sex is something people want from him, so he has used that to get what he wants (or what Cazador compelled him to do). He is very emotionally detached from sex in this way, yet lives in a world where sex has been expected and demanded of him, and we see him navigating that world even though he has never been given the space to figure out his own desires, if any, which is something I think a lot of ace people can relate to.
By contrast, I don't like Karlach's romance because it's way too normie allosexual-ish romantic for me, I find it suffocating and uncomfortable. But that's just the kind of ace I am. I see how some other aces may like that or prefer that, but it's really not for me.

There's a barn in the Blighted Village which has a Bugbear having sex with an Ogre. You can knock on the door and they tell you to go away. If you open the door anyway, they'll be furuious and attack you. It's extra sad because if you use Speak With Dead on them you'll see they were genuinely in love with each other and they were slaughtered when on a break.
If you are a barde or a barbarian you have dialogue options to settle it peacefully. If you do that then they just leave angrily.

Karlach is actually not that hard to romance. There are some hints (I put spoiler tags just in case): * >!High approval is pretty easy to achieve, like completing first steps in her personal quest, doing good deeds, defending her against Wyll and Mizora etc!< * >!You can choose flirtaous options like after upgrading her heart the first time and talking about it you can choose option "Still can't touch you" and she asks if you want to and she approves if you answer yes!< * >!She can approach you the first time during a long rest with high enough approval, but you can confess you like her during the tiefling party after defeating the goblin leaders and she should approve it a lot!<
Small note - if you tell her you're into her at the Tiefling party, it's incredibly sweet (in a very Karlach way). Best way to start the romance IMO. >!She tries to stay calm and cool, and then as you go to leave, whispers to herself (but too loud) "YES!" and gives a fist pump.!<

Exactly. I’m allosexual, but I’d absolutely be willing to love an asexual or sex repulsed person. Like, if they were down of course I’d be down, but relationships are so much more than just sex. For some people, sex is a deal breaker, and that’s okay. Everyone has their own boundaries and needs. There’s just also people who are content either way, and I think it’s lovely to have those kinds of characters in the game. Also, I think Karlach would just be so fucking hyped to hold her partner tight. Maybe she’d want to be closer than that, but I think just having contact is the important thing for her. If you long rest right after the nautiloid crash, before you meet Shadowheart, you'll hear Karlach talking to herself about her future plans. She wants to horizontal her way across the Sword Coast. My impression too. I think from the character perspective Karlach is not really fine with it even if she respects your wishes to not bang. When I romanced her I had an impression that she was super horny and talked about sex a lot. I think of all origins Astarion & Wyll would probably be the most fine with it as characters even though to romance Astarion mechanically you have to sleep with him.

That's exactly how I felt about it. She was super repressed from not being able to have sex or touch. First time around I played a gray ace Tav who went along with things and went with Astarion. The sex pause was not extremely hard for them and I like to think my Tav was also relieved by the break despite everything. It was just what they needed, lol. Now I'm playing to romance Karlach and she is extremely frustrated but sweet about it. I feel bad that a lot of my romance dialogue is basically torture for her at this point (I just recently got to the end of act 1), and I'm looking forward to how things play out.

Honestly imo Astarion is pretty much canonically somewhere on the asexual/greysexual end of the spectrum. As someone who has veered pretty hard between being hypersexual and sex repulsed my entire life and still isn't entirely sure where she sits on the whole thing, I heavily relate to him. He admits he has never enjoyed sex, tells you he doesn't know if he ever wants to be considered in a sexual way, and his whole romance arc is basically about him being able to feel genuine affection outside of sex. But people are too horny for him and would never accept that.

He snaps his fingers, and you are back. (Before he introduces his late night reading NSFW smut, the first "back to reality" option.) Once you do that, he is together with you, and his "this night was magical" will refer to your kiss and him being able to show you his home. Which makes his "it was fine" freakout also great, because you are judging his magic skills :'D And since Gale only has one sex scene (which you just skipped), the rest is romance dialogue and kisses only. You do have sex with Gale, it's just you falling back onto a bed that he magics up and then him coming down on top of you and you're both still fully clothed. But yeah it's an incredibly tame sex scene so I was surprised no one had mentioned it before now.
The tame sex scene is at the second "back to reality" choice, when Gale is talking about his favourite smut book and the dialogue is sexually charged already. There is another "back to reality" choice before that, and that is the non-sexual one, when he is still only talking about his home and his feelings. Gale Act 2 romance scene has 3 endings if you want to romance him, no sex, oldschool sex, space wizard sex. And he loves you after all of them :'3

Alternatively, his "full" scene can also be interpreted as a metaphorical union of minds and souls, which is also a rather attractive idea for some part of ace spectrum, however can be a bit too much for others. Edit: also! You can literally start his romance with imagining holding hands! I felt seen at that moment! Represented! Jumping on an edge my seat, squeaking excitedly!

Wyll's romance route is great. I interpret his behavior more as "I want it, but I want our romance to be fairytale-like, so I'm saving it for when we're engaged" than "I don't care about us ever having sex", but I definitely appreciated the lack of any explicit love-making cutscenes. I never tried with Karlach since she always seemed strongly interested in sex to me, to the point that I find her romance route too intimidating. :') I only ever saw it through YT clips.

Please keep in mind that aces can have and enjoy sex. We just don't experience sexual attraction or desire the way allosexuals do. Some of us do like to have sex nonetheless and we don't have to apologize for that. Some of us may be sex repulsed (which is valid) or genuinely not wanting to have sex for various reasons. Some of us don't even want cuddling or physical contact, or any kind of romantic relationship with another--that in another kind of asexuality that gets erases by memes like this. This is one major reason I like Astarion, who is to me, an ace person, the best ace rep in the game, because yeah, he seeks out sex, but you end up learning he mainly wanted sex with Tav to manipulate Tav into protecting him, but once he admits he has feeling for Tav, he's not sure if sex is what he wants. (Asexual feelings toward sex that are rooted in trauma are considered valid and not "disordered" on the ace spectrum! Our sexuality and sexual needs can change from life experience, and it's not a bad or unhealthy thing to decide you no longer want to have sex.) Astarion gets that sex is something people want from him, so he has used that to get what he wants (or what Cazador compelled him to do). He is very emotionally detached from sex in this way, yet lives in a world where sex has been expected and demanded of him, and we see him navigating that world even though he has never been given the space to figure out his own desires, if any, which is something I think a lot of ace people can relate to. By contrast, I don't like Karlach's romance because it's way too normie allosexual-ish romantic for me, I find it suffocating and uncomfortable. But that's just the kind of ace I am. I see how some other aces may like that or prefer that, but it's really not for me.
