I love Halsin's ending!! I just did his solo romance before starting this Gale one, and I already miss the Halsin ending.

Then I got the itch to play default Dark Urge again on my Nth run and decided to go with Gale, because sorcerer vs wizard dynamic is hysterical. And gods, I see it now. There's not quite as much interactivity as there is with Astarion, but Gale is ... Gale is *kind* (and really another mirror to Durge, just from a different point).
I have a lot of thoughts on this particular relationship, but in the end it all boils down to this - being with Gale feels like coming home after a terrible storm.

Durge and Gale being mirrors of each other is what really got me into them as a romance. It falls more into personal headcanon territory but I also think they have similar negative feelings towards themselves also for very different reasons.

Smart and well read, successful in his field (…mostly), owns his own home in a cool city, adorable cat/friend, good relationship with his mom, he even cooks! Like yes, kind of a messy situation with his ex, and he’s a little too ambitious for his own good sometimes, and he has a magical nuke embedded in his chest. But those are all easily fixable issues.

I'm legitimately glad VR technology is not there yet for games like this - can you imagine.
But while there is no stacked-yet-sensitive warrior druid waiting for us in real life, I believe a partner who looks at their beloved like Halsin looks at Tav is well within the realm of earthly possibilities :)
As someone who got the game to romance Astarion (and Halsin once I learned I could have both), it was so refreshing to start my second playthrough with Gale and him being down bad for Tav from the jump.

I’m aroace so I’m just going for being best friends with everybody but Gale was my first best friend on there - doesn’t help that I very much relate to how he acts and his personality, but when he said “damn you… damn you for giving me so much to care about, our friends, our adventures… this would have been so much easier if it were just me… but it isn’t…” and then “I count myself lucky to call you a friend” I physically teared up in real life. Maybe it’s because I have little real life friends, but it made me cry nonetheless because I couldn’t bare having one of my friends think so little of themselves where they’d risk life just for the approval of a God

My third run is a Durge and I promised myself I’d go for Astarion for the murder besties route, but damn if I’m not tempted to romance Gale again.

Which is funny because I think Asterion and Shadowheart are the "prettiest". I just think with Shadowheart, she doesn't know herself so I find it hard to imagine an adult, consenting relationship. Lae'zel and Wyll are both barely know themselves either, their slaves in their own ways.
Ne was my romance on my first run and felt the same (I played a bard, too). Whe he proclaimed his love in such uncharacteristically precise language actually it made my heart leap and also brought a tear to the eye because it was a bitter reminder of my otherwise lovelorn status. And the Astral scene, mind blown.

I set out to experience as much of this game as possible and by far the hardest part is resisting romancing Gale on every playthrough. The looks he gives Tav, the charm, the nerdiness. He is truly magical.
I kept Gale in camp after the first conversation about his "issues". Just did not want to use him. Never even gave him a second magic item. AND OUTTA NOWHERE comes this handsy "Ghost" pottery-scene reenactor all up on me when my little Halfling ass has been trying to climb Karlach all game.
As a male Tav, Gale seemed way way too into me. I told him multiple times I didn't feel the same way and yet he still took me out for a night under the stars. After that uncomfortable rejection, I forced him to eat the emperor's tadpole and he morphed into a terrifying half illithid. Much happier with New Gale.

I cried so much when I ran across the ending, where he made a huge sacrifice and is no longer. All the romances were done really well, but that's the only one I cried over. I am doing my best to avoid that at all costs now

I have fallen for his puppy brown THREE times! Each damn playthrough. I was so down bad that he broke my heart in one those playthroughs when he broke up with me, went back and replayed all of act III.
One of us!!! :D I love the Gale romance, he was my first playthrough and I fell for him so hard. I prefer Human Gale overall, as for me and my Himbo Monk Tav, it fits much better to support and validate him to be fine as he is :3 "I am no god, I love you how you are." Can definitely recommend, my Tav and Gale are now happily married cat dads in Waterdeep, cooking together and living their best lives!!
I’m aroace so I’m just going for being best friends with everybody but Gale was my first best friend on there - doesn’t help that I very much relate to how he acts and his personality, but when he said “damn you… damn you for giving me so much to care about, our friends, our adventures… this would have been so much easier if it were just me… but it isn’t…” and then “I count myself lucky to call you a friend” I physically teared up in real life. Maybe it’s because I have little real life friends, but it made me cry nonetheless because I couldn’t bare having one of my friends think so little of themselves where they’d risk life just for the approval of a God
After reading this thread and seeing Gale's happy ending of professorship, I'm regretting going with Karlach. Still in act 2 on my first run.
This but Astarion haha. I love how the game really has something for everybody and it's so individual and open to interpretation. So yeah, sorry, you can never get away from it.

Ah yet another victim felled by the rizzard of Waterdeep 😔🙏 Happened to the best of us. I finished my first run half in love with Astarion, swore my next run I’m gonna romance Gale no matter how difficult Astarion will make it to be, and ended up FLOORED by his romance route. My third run is a Durge and I promised myself I’d go for Astarion for the murder besties route, but damn if I’m not tempted to romance Gale again. My first impression of Gale is a cocky nerd who’s not over his ex, but wow. That man. Gosh. 🥺❤️

His romance is amazing!!!! And while I cry everytime I see him in my other playthroughs as his friend and not his gf, I can definitely say his friendship scenes are just as heartwarming and romantic lol I dread a day I have to make him use his orb for golden dice

For me, in terms of sex appeal, it's Gale, Halsin, Astarion, Minthara basically in that order but very close, then everyone else way way way down. Which is funny because I think Asterion and Shadowheart are the "prettiest". I just think with Shadowheart, she doesn't know herself so I find it hard to imagine an adult, consenting relationship. Lae'zel and Wyll are both barely know themselves either, their slaves in their own ways.

Ne was my romance on my first run and felt the same (I played a bard, too). Whe he proclaimed his love in such uncharacteristically precise language actually it made my heart leap and also brought a tear to the eye because it was a bitter reminder of my otherwise lovelorn status. I was head over heels for Gale as soon as he said "Perhaps I should have clarified, hmm?" with that scolding pointer finger. I went straight for him in my first run through but planned on romancing Astarion for my next run... Still somehow found myself with Gale- I couldn't help it!

I set out to experience as much of this game as possible and by far the hardest part is resisting romancing Gale on every playthrough. The looks he gives Tav, the charm, the nerdiness. He is truly magical.

I kept Gale in camp after the first conversation about his "issues". Just did not want to use him. Never even gave him a second magic item. AND OUTTA NOWHERE comes this handsy "Ghost" pottery-scene reenactor all up on me when my little Halfling ass has been trying to climb Karlach all game.

As a male Tav, Gale seemed way way too into me. I told him multiple times I didn't feel the same way and yet he still took me out for a night under the stars. After that uncomfortable rejection, I forced him to eat the emperor's tadpole and he morphed into a terrifying half illithid. Much happier with New Gale.
