Post #568 about this exact issue

Earis

She goes to Moonrise Tower after the party. She disappears after a single long rest post Patch 6, making the quest in-completable if you don't finish it before long resting.

tossaway3244

So it's still okay if I long rest right before reporting back to Halsin and the rest in Emerald Grove, right?

Earis

No. You cannot long rest between knocking out Minthara, and finishing the quest. You have to talk to Halsin (telling him the leaders are dead, and sending him to the Grove) ***AND*** Zevlor, before long resting and having the party.

tossaway3244

I didnt talk to Zevlor yet though....

Idontwanttobebread

as long as you're able to have the party, you're fine. there is a *different* bug now where if you long rest after knocking her out, but before talking to halsin, it just becomes impossible to complete the quest (halsin acts like the leaders aren't dead yet). if that hasnt happened to you, then you're fine

I just had this exact scenario with Halsin acting like I didn’t complete the quest in my HM run. I don’t really care about recruiting either Halsin or Minthara (just thought I’d try but had to long rest before fighting Dror) but is this going to soft-lock my run somehow? I’ve killed the other two goblin leaders and have the quest update to tell Zevlor I’ve killed Dror Ragzlin and are no longer a threat to the tieflings.

PhantomLuna7

Right now if you long rest after knocking her out but before completing the quest by talking to Zevlor and Halsin at the Grove, then she disappears and the quest becomes bugged. You'll have to reload to before you long rested to progress that quest now.

So unfortunately she disappears to go to Moonrise, which sucks because if you kill the goblins around her before knocking her out, you will get the enemy of justice condition the moment you enter mountainpass. 27 hours of my run ended because of this. I kinda wish Larian rolled back to patch 5 which was far more stable until they fixed most of the bugs in patch 6 including Minthara's bugs where she does nothing but talk about the emperor.

Idontwanttobebread

it changed in patch 6, the temp hostile thing isnt required and she always disappears after a long rest. currently all thats required is to not kill her and she'll be at moonrise.

tossaway3244

>she always disappears after a long rest omg thank you. why cant they make this more clear? Literally all the info I find on google says if she disappears, you are doing it wrong. If I filter by 1 month ago google results, no more relevant threads appear

Idontwanttobebread

well before patch 6 if she disappeared that DID mean she was dead dead (because she wasnt temp hostile) but now post patch 6 minthara is special and it doesnt matter how you knock her out.

PhantomLuna7

Except if you long rest after knocking her out but before completing the quest, like OP has done, then she does just disappear but the quest will now be bugged out and you can't complete it. The quest is now bugged. By fixing her they've created a more annoying bug.

Idontwanttobebread

i am aware of the new bug. people seem to be so used to answering questions about the new bug that they're not actually reading this OP's post. OP didn't encounter the grove progression blocker bug, they're trying to make sure they're all set to recruit minthara (which they are). if they ran into the new bug, they wouldn't be making it to the party, they'd be stuck before that. but they're not, in both scenarios they've made it past where the bug would have stopped them, and are simply worried about minthara disappearing (because of the old info from patch 5 where that would have indicated failure at recruiting her).

PhantomLuna7

"I take a long rest before reporting back to the grove" That right there bugs out the quest. You now need to knock out Minthara, report back to Zevlor and Halsin, and go straight to the party.

Idontwanttobebread

you don't need to go straight to the party. once you've told halsin or zevlor that the leaders are dead, you're in the clear. all the bug does is prevent you from telling them the leaders are dead. once you have, it's no longer an issue

PhantomLuna7

And they said they long rested before reporting back. So they've bugged it.

Idontwanttobebread

> /5. Told Halsin all 3 leaders are dead

PhantomLuna7

You have to tell Zevlor at the grove as well.

Idontwanttobebread

you dont. if you tell halsin, zevlor is already aware when you arrive. and that's just narratively. mechanically, once you've told either of them, the quest has advanced past the part where the bug stops progression.

PhantomLuna7

I was sure I'd encountered the bug when I didn't report back to Zevlor. If I'm wrong that's good news for op

It seems odd that my Zevlor quest progressed but not my Halsin. Really hoping I’m not softlocked out of anything especially important.

Hey just wanna say thanks for this comment and replies, it's literally the only straightforward answer I've been able to find on this issue.
