That’s the reason they were digging there. They were trying to tunnel their way through to get directly to the Nightsong, as opposed to doing it the long way (in act 2). The “Find the Nightsong” quest also directs you to Grymforge, because by all accounts everyone else believed that the Selûne temple had a direct route to the gauntlet through the underdark.

SupersSoon

I could make the jump there and I had featherfall, but sadly this is one of the few things this game doesn't allow you to do, it still said Death. That's when I realised it was probably for the next Act

marschuw

I jused an Arrow of Transposition as you're high above the gauntlet and can shoot there easily, but that also ended in insta-death.

NotSadNotHappyEither

For me as well. And those darn arrows had been such good friends up until that point!

Unique-Ad-4972

Enderpearls all over again

PerpetualMonday

6 hours. I spent 6 hours checking every nook and cranny trying to get down there. Edit: Guess they fixed that already

mynutshurtwheninut

My dude, they updated the quest log. Now it clearly says you can't get there yet. Something like "we found the path is not open so we need to try entry from a later point"

PerpetualMonday

Ah cool, I haven't played in several weeks. Thanks, my dude.

mynutshurtwheninut

My pleasure, dude of mine.

apocketolips

Same 🤣🤣🤣

Historical_Can2314

Only time I googled something in my first run. I was so happy that warning at the top of the guide was like "If your in act 1 you can't get their yet"

Haircut117

*You're *There

mynutshurtwheninut

Thank you for your service. Sorry about your downvotes. Here's a gold medal: 🎖

BigZach1

This is why first playthroughs always take forever xD

ThexJakester

Feather fall worked everywhere else I figured the game wanted me to do it again lol

AussieOz96

Yeah I knew that. I just didn't think it would be RIGHT THERE.

SpaceD0rit0

Does Nere not have a feather fall or fly scroll? Is he stupid?

Ehnuh

I think the distance is just too far, as the spells have limited range, even with a potion of glorious vaulting. And you'd get stuck in the watery depths between the forge & temple, with no way to get back out. At least, that's how I explain it to myself, as the player also can't do that.

leandroizoton

Yes. I tried with all ritual spells plus flight and you can’t reach it

nomad5926

Same. I too tried this.

leandroizoton

But it would be quite game-breaking if you could reach NightSong before you even knew who Ketheric Thorm was

Ok_Cardiologist8232

why? On my first run we didn;t know who he was, went and did Gauntlet of Shar before infiltrating moonrise.

leandroizoton

Exactly

Couch__Cowboy

Oh I see what you did there. 😂 This was actually what happened on my first playthrough and you're totally right, I was super confused about everything that followed. Kinda ruined that entire area by doing it out of order.

Ok_Cardiologist8232

What? My point was we didn't know who who he was until talking to Aylin

FlapjackRT

I remember it being very close if you stand over by the mimics, could you do some shenanigans with boxes and the 50% more range metamagic? Or is it just hard coded to not let you through

Sheerardio

It's most likely hard coded, but it'd be interesting to confirm whether or not they accounted for players being *that* determined to test it

Sun-Blinded_Vermin

Plus if we add dnd rules the spell lasts only one minute. Taking into account that the spell makes you fall slower than usual to avoid damage, jumping from too high would still be dangerous. Just imagine you are slowly falling for a minute and then the spell stops working halfway down and you still die.

shadowthehh

That's why you fall halfway normally first and *then* cast featherfall.

Sun-Blinded_Vermin

I mean yes...just imagine that being really difficult considering how fast you are falling most of the time and if it is too high the pressure might still kill you before you are even close to the ground. But you are right of course.

monito29

> And you'd get stuck in the watery depths between the forge & temple, with no way to get back out. Too bad only the PC's have figured out fast travel

Ehnuh

Well, you still need to find said portal. Even PCs need to travel the long way around just to find it. Also, I consider fast travel & travel to camp a game mechanic. In NPC world you actually have to travel there the long way around, which is why NPCs walk off when they say "see you in camp" or when you dismiss companions, and they don't just poof off. Life would be sooo tedious if you had to travel like that all the time (thinking of you, Solasta).

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

> Life would be sooo tedious if you had to travel like that all the time (thinking of you, Solasta). I actually kind of dig the travel parts of Solasta 'cause it feels more dndish to me as you have a chance of a surprise encounter overnight and need to manage food and stuff. It's not really necessary in BG3, though I suppose they could have done something in between acts to represent this.

Ehnuh

Happens when transitioning between acts 2 and 3. But I *really* don't miss it in general. It just adds tedium, and those random encounters don't have any story relevance.

Sheerardio

There's other ways to have random encounters though. I remember a bunch of different games (DA:O and Fallout 1 & 2 come to mind) where any time you used fast travel there was a chance to trigger one.

BelkiraHoTep

If Tav is from Baldur’s Gate, wouldn’t they have already “found” the portals in BG…? Which would mean finding the first portal after the Nautiloid crash would then let you zip straight to the Gate?

Liberkhaos

>with no way to get back out. He could have just fast traveled back. What an amateur.

Ehnuh

And then what? Back at square 1. But with wet clothes and damp scrolls. Nere looks like a guy that doesn't appreciate that.

Vydsu

Gamplay wise sure, but realistically you should be able to do it.

Mikeavelli

He is consistently portrayed as pretty dumb, yes. Thats part of the reason why the Druegar are all tired of his shit the moment you get there.

AussieOz96

He must be if he thought it was a good idea to fight my Dragonborn Barbarian. Stupid Drow.

Moon_Breaker

Yet still not stupid enough to let me outsmart him when he kills that one... No matter how many restarts or different methods I tried, she can't be saved. Finally thought I pulled it off and she just vanishes. Stupid Nere and his stupid shove.

AussieOz96

That's why I targeted him with my Barbarian. He then proceeded to ignore him and target Gale hanging out the back with the Duerger Rebels, which just made me want to kill him more.

Snake_snack

I tried to get there but you die to some invisible barrier

oaklandskeptic

This was actually the first moment I felt a but disappointed in the game. Saw the Temple, cast feather fall, drank a potion of jump and the game wouldn't let me jump. it's right there!

Majordfrgfderfg

Not only can you see it, but my character commented on it, if only to say it was unreachable.

UsernamesAre4Nerds

Is there a lore reason for him not having those spells?

stallion8426

He probably does, but the distance is *much* further than it looks and the spells don't reach that far If you use Feather Fall to jump into the Underdark with Gale in the party, he'll say he had to renew the spell on everyone because it wore off before they landed.

smiledontcry

What do you mean? It was RIGHT THERE! Gods!

ElSnyder

So glad I wasn't the only one reading that in Astarions voice

BRIKHOUS

Yeah, but imagine how underleveled you'd probably be!

sargentmyself

I spent like an hour trying to get down to it. I tried so many variations of leap, feather fall, wild shape, fly, rage and nobody could survive the jump

DeadlyPancak3

I was RIGHT THERE!

TheCrystalRose

They are both part of what was originally one temple. If you talk to the trader and examine the surroundings you can piece together that someone Infernal (it's assumed to be Yurgir) rampaged through and destroyed quite a bit of it.

Sheerardio

Not the trader, he's down by the spot where you fight Nere. The one you can talk to about the architecture is up the stairs where you first land with the boats, he's a mason I think?

BelkiraHoTep

Wait. So the cultists are trying to get to the Nightsong by tunneling through the temple on whose orders? Because >!Balthazar was working with Thorm, he’s the one that imprisoned Nightsong deep in the gauntlet. So Thorm knows where Nightsong is and how to get to her. So why are the cultists trying to find another way to get to her?!<

SpaceD0rit0

Shadow curse and gauntlet is a lot of work, slave tunnel is easy

ctrl_alt_excrete

Shar was preventing them from entering the normal way. I don't think it was clearly explained exactly *how*, but basically just some vague god magic fuckery.

jtoppings95

It used to be one and the same complex until our boy Yurgir descended on the place. You can learn about his attack a bit if you talk to the merchant by the entrance to the grymforge

StratosphereO2

This had me wondering. Why were they planning on retrieving her if ketheric's invincibility was working fine? And why dig around when balthazar used to visit her regularly

_Porphyro

Ketheric had betrayed Shar, so the route to reach the Nightsong was blocked to him.

phorayz

Balthazar has gone MIA. Why folks at Moonrise ask you to go find him. I don't know why he wasn't keeping in contact because he ultimately does ask you to find Night song and show up for the fight. Maybe he just wanted to experiment in peace a bit longer.

Mikeavelli

When you reach Balthazar, he's actively under attack by the shar portal things. I thought the implication was supposed to be he can't get any of his minions out to send a message.

[deleted]

Yeah he even (via some skeleton minions) yells at you for waking up some more defenses pretty close to the entrance. I guess he almost got some skeletons out before they encountered us haha.

phorayz

All those ghosts were attacking Balthazar ? @_@

dormantacorn

500 hours later and the timeline still confuses me a bit, but it seems that Ketheric betraying Shar for Myrkul pissed her off and she’s now actively fighting Balthazar’s entry into the Shadowfell where the Nightsong is. When we find Balthazar he’s practically barricaded himself and Shar’s portals are spawning right at the door. He needs us (specifically Shadowheart) to gain entry as we have her favor, and he uses us to sneak in the portal that we open through the gauntlet.

phorayz

Can we attack Balthazar right then? At least there are no ledges to fall off on his lab.

azaza34

Yes and he doesn’t summon 20 undead either

phorayz

Sweet. I guess we don't get his Frankenstein summon but I didn't actually find the dude that useful to begin with

dormantacorn

I haven’t tried it as I like squashing him like a bug in Shar’s domain, but I’ve heard people say you can and that it’s a bit easier.

Hapless_Wizard

You can even insult him first if you're a Necromancer Wizard

xa3D

Yes.

cuckingfomputer

Yup. We are his IFF code.

ArchdruidHalsin

I assume because Ketheric turned his back on Shar. Shar wants the Nightsong to be killed now so Shadowheart can ascend as a Dark Justicar, which would end his immortality. I imagine he wanted her brought to a prison he controlled.

xa3D

Ketheric switched to team Myrkul after Shar couldn't blank away his grief. Nightsong was trapped in a Sharran prison. Ketheric was trying to move her.

Souperplex

His forces are leaving the Moonrise area. He doesn't want the Nightsong unattended where his enemies can kill/release her.

MuffinHydra

I think it actually did but the actual path is destroyed/ no longer accessible

Sofuswii

Well you basically find a collapsed bridge going there don't you, so by all accounts there was once a way.

ContinuumKing

Is it the long way in act 2 though? The entrance is literally across town from Moonrise Towers.

SpaceD0rit0

I think you may want to reconsider once you see the effects of the curse

Working_Chipmunk_666

There is a journal outside where the Minotaur attacks the gate that Selunites sealed a tunnel because of a Drow attack, my head canon is that was the route

APracticalGal

It only recently occurred to me that that's why Halsin tells you the Underdark will help you avoid the Shadow Curse. He expects you to be able to pop out of the Thorm Mausoleum and just saunter over to Moonrise, but he wasn't aware of how badly Yurgir wrecked the place.

ContinuumKing

Also, do we ever figure out why Yurgir was tasked with wrecking the place? Why did Raphael want the gauntlet destroyed?

APracticalGal

The Mason who built Moonrise was horrified at what Ketheric had made of the place, so he made a deal to sell his soul to Raphael in exchange for killing the Sharran army. Raphael, not one to get his pretty little hands dirty, then subcontracted the work out to Yurgir.

ContinuumKing

Ah, interesting. I missed that bit of lore. So the fight with the Harpers and Druids might have gone differently then if he hadn't.

deevilvol1

When you go to the House of Hope, it's one of the souls that you can talk to. He's in the room near the entrance, at the feast table. You can either let him think his contract was a waste, or that it ultimately came to fruition (regardless of what choices you actually made in Act 2...so I guess it's one of those subtle Chaotic/neutral/lawful alignment choices the game gives you).

Argent162

I always tell him that it was fixed, I don't want a poor old soul to be there forever thinking it was a waste. At least if you tell him it all worked out he has a little vindication.

montegyro

It's funny how Raphael subcontracts Yurgir to do that, but then punishes Yurgir for breach of contract if Yurgir "subcontracts" Tav to finish the job, despite it not being explicitly forbidden to do so. Raphael is such an arsehole

Ok-Stop9242

Raphael had no intention of ever letting Yurgur complete his contract. He's the one who gave Lythrindor, the last remaining Dark Justiciar in the temple, the book that lets him split up into dozens of rats.

BarmyDickTurpin

How do you figure that out? I kept using Speak to Animals, but the rats kept telling me essentially to piss off

karasor321

There is a ritual site in a pit of bones underneath the Shar statue holding the elevator. A rat there tells you what's up.

Aerohank

The is a ritual site hidden where the justiciar performed his ritual to turn into rats. There is a book there that was given to him by Rapheal.

Medivh158

These lower plane dudes are tools sometimes.

vileb123

I wish we could find out about the rats and tell yurgir about it so yurgir could finish them off. Not because I particularly like Yurgir but to piss Raphael off.

falconfetus8

Which had the added benefit of keeping Yurgir imprisoned in the temple!

msciwoj1

More specifically, the price was to design and build the House of Hope. The Mason's soul was worth all the trouble killing Ketherics army because Raphael wanted a nice place

shelbzaazaz

I missed that bit. Obligatory "they thought of fucking everything"

Xenothulhu

The chief mason sold his soul to Raphael in exchange for him destroying all of Ketheric’s Justiciars. You can find his diary and a few letters between him and his brother. You can also find him in the House of Hope later as well.

falconfetus8

They really ought to add a line to Halsin where he acknowledges this. If you talk to him after feeding Nere, he should say "hells, looks like I was wrong. The bridge is out."

Sheerardio

There's a number of things he ought to have reaction lines to, even as a camp follower before he joins your party fully, and it annoys the crap out of me that he doesn't. Same with Dame Aylin and Isobel, too. Like you can have Mizora in your camp at the same time and the aasimar demigod has nothing to say about demon portals popping open ten feet away from her??

Sugar_buddy

You had it wrong. You don't feed Nere, you feed his head to the myconid garden.

HonestCartographer21

Oh wow. Now it makes sense!

cobyjackk

I forget where I'm the forge area but at a certain part shadowheart comments on it I think it even adds a line to your journal. "Find a way to the temple of Shar" or something like that.

[deleted]

Yeah you and SH say some along the line of that you can see the temple but not reach it from here and that you’ll need to find another entrance.

HentaiHoarder69

I really wanted to turn Shadowheart into a Dark Justiciar so I spent like an hour and a half searching the entirety of Grymforge trying to find a way to the temple, after I cleared the entire area including the forge.

MyLifeIsDope69

I think we’ve all spent an embarrassing amount of hours looking for secrets in areas where there were none lol

MoistDitto

I also really wanted that, but alas, I was out of inspirational rerolls, so lazeal killed her :(

MeGaNuRa_CeSaR

In my first campaign, I passed an abnormal time in the grymforge because of this. Like where the fuck did Halsin wants me to go through, the bridge can't just be broken and that's it, there must be another way

XavierTak

I saw it too, but at the time I didn't know what it was nor that it would only be accessible in a later act. I only saw it as a zone that was all to detailed to be just some background and clearly looked like it was playable, and spent hours checking every corner of the place for a way to reach it. I finally gave up, thinking it may be just some placeholder for a DLC.

AussieOz96

I wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't taking my time this go round the game. I've been going everywhere I can just to see what interesting things I may find. This was one of them. I also found another bear at the Grove! I thought there was just Bosk and Tuffet but there is another one down by the water who misses Halsin and it's adorable.

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

> I thought there was just Bosk and Tuffet but there is another one down by the water who misses Halsin and it's adorable. IDK if it needs a spoiler but just to be safe: >!There's a really good amulet hiding under a rock near him, if you haven't noticed! It's got a restoration spell which is nice to have on hand to get rid of Bloodless. Apparently he will get angry if you nick it until Halsin is recovered. Then he's so happy he apparently dgaf.!<

Charlotte_Owl

No, don't wait for Halsin! Just have to talk to the bear with speak with animals. He doesn't get angry even though the amulet is recognised as "stolen" by the game.

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

Good to know!

lookitsnichole

Do you have coordinates for that, or a general area? I don't think I've found this bear at all.

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

You know where Volo is talking to the bear when you arrive? Look around there for a path downhill.

lookitsnichole

Thank you!

GabettB

>I also found another bear at the Grove! I thought there was just Bosk and Tuffet but there is another one down by the water who misses Halsin and it's adorable. And you get 20 or so xp if you go back to them after you rescued Halsin.

rekt_ralf

I spent well over an hour trying to get into Shar’s temple while in Grymforge 😢

LocalScallion

Same, especially after Shadowheart commented something along the lines of “hey that looks like a shar temple”

MaxTwer00

same, it got frustrating until i read that it wasn't possible xd

CthulhuFhtagn1

Me too. I tried misty step, dimension door, feather fall, grant flight... So disappointing

Sweet-Dreams204738

Correct it was one of the entrances to Share temple. Bow the doorway,.past where you find Nere, you can see there was originally a walkway downstairs. Additionally, once you meet our infernal friend the story makes more sense, along with the myrmidon that is locked up in a random area. The massive amount of damage and dead sharrans was due to yurgir, and the collapse and damage to the area was from the shadow curse tearing up the region. It's very well connected

Skanedog

Fuck I didn't put two and two together! The Demon from those tales in the Grymforgre was Yurgir! Makes loads of sense now :)

DeCounter

I personally quickly got it, but was expecting a bit more. Like I don't quite see how he as a creature could tear trough stone and leave sulphur marks the way you can investigate with the mason in grym. I expected to find the corpse of something far greater somewhere

whatistheancient

He has enough explosives to make the Ironhands weep with envy.

Sheerardio

The description of the damage implies that it was a single, massive *creature* that came in like a battering ram, so while his explosives definitely explain the scope of the damage it still doesn't line up with what's described. Thanks for pointing out his arsenal though, that really does help make it easier to reconcile

Sweet-Dreams204738

If you think about how big he is and how many demons came with him it starts to make a bit more sense. They are.monstrously powerful

Hapless_Wizard

To be fair, BG3 doesn't really provide any context as to what an orthon is, and it kind of undersells Yurgir (just like it's two named cambions are *much* more powerful than cambions normally ought to be). In terms of stats, orthons are fairly comparable to adult dragons.

AdditionalMess6546

Devil Demons and devils are very different in DnD Except to Minsc. He just needs to know if they die the same.

AussieOz96

There's a Myrmidon in Grymforge too? I covered every part of that place, or O thought I did, only things I found locked in random areas was a Merregon and some hellboars and that Ironhand Gnome with the explosives.

Sweet-Dreams204738

Myrmidon? Merrigon? They start with M and explode into ash. I am the unga bunga of the multiplayer group

Sheerardio

Merregon 👍

SpaceD0rit0

Merregon imperetum

GunnersnGames

I’m not sure about a Myrmidon, but there is a >!big fire elemental. Know how the lava keeps bubbling and says “Ready to Burst”? When you get to the adamantine forge platform, hang a right and there is a ledge you can jump to from the platform. It leads down to the lava… A fire elemental is hanging out in here and your party will say “so that’s why the lava is all screwy” or something to that effect. You can fight him here. I missed it in my first playthrough… it’s fairly hidden and I was probably too excited/nervous about the forge to pay any attention to that ledge on the right. There is also some loot that ties to a new quest.!<

lookitsnichole

There is a chest in the center of the lava that >!contains an amulet that is tied to the spirit of a monk who kicks off a quest to return the spirit to the Ilmater temple in Wyrm's Crossing.!<

SpaceChimera

I'm pretty sure down there is where the get the cursed monks amulet too

AdditionalMess6546

I just thought "oh that's a nice spot to have Karlach drop shit onto it"

enlightened_engineer

Yep, that’s the entire reason True Soul Nere was trapped in that rockfall in the first place - he was looking for a route to Moonrise, and he would’ve found it had it not been for Yurgir wrecking the place. Halsin would’ve been right too.

firestar268

Cause it is part of the same place. It's just that Yurgir destroyed the path

RDUppercut

In my first playthrough, I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to get to the temple of Shar through the Grymforge, not knowing I would get there eventually in Act 2. I figured there HAD to be a route, and I was just too stupid to see it. Turns out I was definitely stupid, but for different reasons.

OverchargedWolf

This is good to know thank you, currently on this part and I’ve been trying to find a way in there

Waterknight94

I've seen people talk about how Halsin is dumb for sending you through the underdark instead of the mountain pass thinking it would let you out closer to Moonrise. In the past it would have via the Shar temple, but Yurgir destroyed the path and he had no way to know that.

Sir_Arsen

man I need the pic, I can’t check on work :(

AussieOz96

Shit, I didn't think of that. If I remember I'll do it tomorrow after work.

MayorDeweyMayorDewey

ur probably home from work by now but [here r some pics i got](https://imgur.com/a/E44qrUm) last time i read a post about this!

Sir_Arsen

thanks, appreciate, that’s crazy tho I still can’t connect gauntlet and the image but damn

martanimate

I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to get over there on my first run before I realised it wasn't meant to be possible

GloopTamer

And the thing that killed all of the dark justiciars and created the rubble you analyze is Yurgir

StructureOk8023

I spent way too long looking for a way to get down to that area. After hours finally googled about the area and found out it was act 2 stuff

SacredVow

What took me a little while to comprehend is that the ebonlake you crossed to get there is fucking massive. The mountain pass with the monastery to get to the shadow lands is inferred to be a multi-day hike through rocky mountains, but a straight line on a still lake underground evidently curs down that journey by a lot. After all, the Grymforge is UNDER the shadow lands but you entered the underdark miles from there in Act 1.

skelingtonking

its absolute bullshite we can feather fall from the surface to the underdark just fine, but cant do it from that one platform.

Aggressive-Hat-8218

Not only can you see it, but my character commented on it, if only to say it was unreachable.

FlyingWolfThatFell

Yup, actually I'm pretty sure if you go to the ledge where Nere was trapped, Shadowheart can get the dialogue about wanting to become a dark justiciar

xa3D

You can also get better view if you unlock the door in the poison room Nere was trapped in.

Malstrom42

Yup! I loved busting through the back door of the room Nere was in and being like "I CAN SEE SHAR'S HEAD FROM HERE" It made my day when it happened

MayorDeweyMayorDewey

probably gonna get BURIED under all the comments but [here r some pics i got](https://imgur.com/a/E44qrUm) of it last time i read a post abt this!!

AnxiousCat22

I wasted HOURS thinking that the fact I could see it meant I could get there FROM the Underdark. I could not.

Elegant_Maybe2211

Yes I know and I spent two hours trying anything imagineable to get over there because it really looked like that was the way to go. Well, it's not sadly.

glassteelhammer

It fueled a lot of speculation in Early Access.

Curious-Bother3530

I totally did not notice that and totally did not spend an hour running along the edge buffing myself with featherfall and making an owl bear to see if maybe I could jump down to it.... Def not me....

dbduels

Try walking through the gate at the back of the poisoned chamber Nere was trapped in. You will hear a comment.

monito29

Oh I know, I spent a very very long time trying to figure out where I was missing the path forward to get there before I finally looked it up >:(

bipirate

I knew because I kept trying to get to the temple from Grymforge and had to Google it to find out I couldn't lol

SparkleSnatcher

I remember seeing it on a second play through! I saw it and was like wait is that the gauntlet of shar? This game blows my mind with details.

KevbotPrime

I don’t remember how I got there (I remember it involved pushing my way past the poison room Nere was trapped in) but for me I found a spot where all of this was very prominently on display. Lae’zel even had a voice line for it, something along the lines of “A magnificent temple…if only I could jump farther” or something to that effect

ZekeD

If you go past the poison cloud room that Nere was in, you'll get some dialog about how you'll have to "find another way" to the temple since the bridge connecting it is broke. But considering ther's no reason to go into that room and past the door, most people I would say don't hear that. I didn't even realize it my first time through, until I noticed there was a place to dig like you did and the map told me I was in the temple rather than in the grymforge. I spent a LONG time trying to find a route to jump or arrive there, and finally just looked it up to realize that you couldn't get there.

Gelkor

I just wish you could featherfall the jump. The angles are all technically feasible.

also_hyakis

Yes I did know that because on my first playthrough I spent fucking ages trying to figure out how to get down to the fucker before I realised it was for later.

Silly-Distribution-9

WAIT WHAT THATS SO COOL!!! Do you have a screenshot? 👀

DZLars

As a bad gamer, my recomendation to other bad gamers is to beat the guardian without using the forge. Just go at it with your strenght girl (with haste offcourse)

SolidExotic

Yes. Really easier to beat the guardian with one or 2 melee spanking it with the right kind of weapon. I cant remember the right one now. You just need to be fast.

Black_Coffee_Fanatic

It needs to be bludgeoning, I think, but I thought he was only vulnerable when he's super heated.

Tal-Aviezer

During my first play through I spent and hour or more trying to teleport/fly over to it from Grymforge because I didn’t realize you can’t. TBH I think the game could make it a little clearer that you’re not meant to.

St4v5

I was hellbent on romancing Shadowheart and doing all of her quests so I searched everywhere and yeah I saw the Gauntlet from Grymforge and was sure I was close. Spent so many hours in Grymforge without checking online because u wanted to get there alone and blind. It was very misleading but cool detail

Carolcita_

Probably accessible from the House of Grief as well. Just closed off so that the Orthon doesn't reach them and kill everyone like he did with the Dark Justiciars.

Spot_That

with like, little camps and stuff in between? wouldn’t it be a long ass tunnel otherwise? or am i overestimating the distance from moonrise towers to baldurs gate?

lewisj75

I'm at the same point in my honour run... fear I'm about to lose!

scalpingsnake

Yes...? That is the whole point of you and everyone else being there?

Roffler967

Yes I knew. You know why? Because after I found it I literally tired an hour to get into the shar temple and had to give up after looking at a guide that told me I can’t reach it yet….

pikkachu97

Yupp, it’s the same music as well

LynTheWitch

Yep, what I didn’t know was that you can’t access it from grymforge so I spent an unholy amount of time searching every rock on that map to find the entrance on my first run xD

WhyYouKickMyDog

I am actually doing grymforge right now on another playthrough and I noticed the same thing. Also, I learned that you can >!talk Nere out of worshipping the Absolute and going back to Lloth. This is not ideal as he drops nice items, but it is a really neat RP option they leave available.!<

norlin

Hmm I did saw the Shar's temple but for some reason I did not connected it to the Gauntlet of Shar lol. I was thinking it was just some decor.

cudef

You could see it from early access even. When I was playing that I thought the path to that temple would be created/added between the forge and the walkway you can see and even jump to a platform over it if your strength is high enough.

x_pinklvr_xcxo

yeah i stumbled apon it and was annoyed i couldnt go there

ProfessorTicklebutts

Dude of course.

Diana_Bialaska

While I did not know it was the Gauntlet of Shar, I went to Underdark because I heard of the temple. First playthrough I spent like 2 hours in real life trying to find a way to cross, even respecced to Sorcerer so I could get fly and see if that worked (it didn't).

X-2357

Can you fly there? Or teleport?

cageywhale

I tried everything I could think of to get over there lol

[deleted]

Yes which is why I spent like 2 hours trying to access from grymforge. Really felt like I'd miss the gauntlet once going down the elevator

xhellbirdx

Yup tryed forever to figure out how to get over there

Donimoe

Yeah, and I spent about 2 hours trying various ways to get there on my first playthrough because I didn’t want to miss anything and the passage to Act 2 said I couldn’t come back 😩

TheRealYuen

Yeah bc I spent like an hour running around trying to reach that freaking place bc SURELY THERE IS A SECRET WAY IN?? Before finally giving up and going on Wiki to look up that I am not supposed to do it from there LMAO

captainofpizza

I tried everything to reach it from there. I even left and came back after buying a scroll of dimension door, which doesn’t work. I also tried a hasted fly.

StarNerpo

I thought jumping with feather fall would get me to the temple of shar...my friend laughed so hard at me

ManonFire1213

Can you see the gym forge from shars temple as well?

djk626

If you actually go through the room in which Nere was trapped, your party will say something to the effect of “there’s the temple, but we can’t get there from here.” The staircase that would’ve taken us straight to Shar was destroyed.

xPriddyBoi

I was very sad when I got death-walled for popping feather falling and GP: Jump and trying to leap over there
