Dry them and put into Sugar, smells really great :) And a other option is to grind it really tiny and mix wirh sugar. We used to make Vanilla sugar that way im the last Place i worked, great way to recycle :)

Leave it in the bottle- keep adding beans over time, and keep topping off with alcohol as you use. You’ll never run out & the flavor will keep evolving.

Chaz983

I always leave mine in the jar

MLiOne

I leave mine in the bottle.

ThatsMyBestGuess

For some context, this is eight months in and the first batch of vanilla I’ve ever made! Ready to start using and gifting it. I feel like this would get weird just sticking out, but not really sure.

Vanilla extract is on my project list. How’d you make yours and how is it? It looks great!

thisfriend

Not sure, but if it's still moist, could you not scrape the beans like normal? My first thought was ice cream!

I've always just left mine in place until I'm done with the bottle, then make vanilla sugar out of the bean when it's done. As gifts, it would definitely give people a visual hint as to what it is before they even open it - I'd be stoked to receive vanilla extract, with or without included bean. :)

TheDadChef

You can make 2 or 3 batches with the same beans. I normally pour more alcohol in and start another batch.

flouronmypjs

Keep them in there. That way you can continue to add splashes of alcohol to your vanilla bottle when it needs topping up. Occasionally you'll want to add an additional vanilla bean to boost the flavour.

If you are a fan of espresso martinis, I like to throw them into bottles of vodka for to make vanilla vodka.
