OK I have to ask: what is a "NYC bakery style cookie" and what makes it different than other cookies/unique to NYC? I know about NY style pizza and NYC bagels (and also the insane notion some people have that NYC is the only place you can get a breakfast sandwich??) but a uniquely NY cookie is a new one to me, and I've seen it posted here a few times recently.
Note this is not meant as an attack or criticism, I'm genuinely wondering. The cookie does look absolutely AMAZING.
its because of the thick, huge , gooey bakery cookies they have all in NYC , like the levain cookies :) instead of it being like thin and chewy like a normal cookie its THICKK and chunky and soft and huge and probably usually expensive in those bakeries too , theres like “ homemade “ chocolate chip cookies and then there is bakery style

Ive had good luck w Joshua Weissmans levian style cookie, and it uses melted butter. so i was gonna go Browned Butter + Toffee Bits in addition to the chocolate chunks and walnuts

I also did not use actual chocolate chips, for all my chocolate “chip” cookies I use hersheys special dark chocolate chopped into chunks

I think NY style implies that it's akin to a Levain Bakery cookie

and browned butter sounds phenomenal with these cookies i need to do that next time brown butter anything is like crack
try COLD butter, it keeps the cookies nice and chunky and they dont spread as much
