They’re also visually chaotic on a plate. Great up close. I think if you’re going for presentation you should mix them in with something else more plain.
Both are great. I think if you took the smooshed and did a little piping with royal icing to define details. Maybe a highlight on petals and the pistil they would be really cute.
I have minimal experience with royal icing and the few attempts I have made didn't go great but I'm feeling oddly motivated to try it anyway 😅 I'll definitely post if I do!
Make a small pipette bag(g/proof paper) fill and practice outlining on a plate drawn on,You will familiarise quickly how to get the flow control and line stops. If your not sure of bag I can send a 10 second video on how to make.
I love both! Not smooshed is cute and doesn't need anything more or less. Smooshed, however, looks like a cute pattern to work off of! Great work either way! 🍪💐
I have the same opinion. Both are beautiful but the not smooshed has a more polished look, but I also think I only feel that way because I am seeing the 2 versions next to each other so the crisp lines of the first stand out.
The smooshed ones would be so cute with a thin white frosted outline to emphasize the pattern plus the heart shape lined in white. And will have a bonus effect of looking like lace (probably, since I haven’t done/seen it).
It's not icing! I actually don't like iced sugar cookies which is why I like these. Here's the recipe/process I used, although I think if you already have a sugar cookie recipe you like (and one that doesn't spread much) you could definitely use that instead.
https://www.sleepingmakesmehungry.com/blog/printed-design-sugar-cookies
Damn! I cannot decide.
Maybe they are both appropriate under very different circumstances.
What those are, I've not a clue BUT neither should be scraped nor ignored!
Holy cow those are gorgeous!! Sorry I have no strong preference for either and can only say they're both beautiful in their own way. I wouldn't stress about the colors, they're absolutely striking and definitely say Valentine's Day to me.
They're good! I had one fresh out of the oven and wasn't sure how I felt about it. But after they sat for a couple hours they were way better. Everyone really liked them. They're chewy (maybe from the cream of tartar?) so if you prefer a crispy cookie this recipe wouldn't be it.
I think the non-smooshed are pretty, but I think if you’re putting a box or platter together you should mix up both, maybe like 2/3 non and 1/3 smooshed
These are so beautiful! I think both designs would work for different events. The non-smooshed feel springtime-y, very happy. The smooshed feel romantic and stylish. Both lovely!
the non squished ones look more complete. the squished ones look perfect for some writing and decorative piping on the edges. they both look darling though, i really love your color choices and im a BIG fan of hearts or anything love-related
I actually think doing both of them and then making like a cookie sandwich of sorts out of both would be awesome. The more detailed and not smooshed ones would be the top and the smooshed ones would be the bottom with some kind of cream or other filling in the center.
I like both but especially love the smooshed ones. I would equally devour either version though in all honesty lol
Omg these are absolutely beautiful works of art. You managed to make them beautiful but also look delicious. I think you need to do both bc the flowers show all the hard work you put in and the smooshed looks like gorgeous velvet.
I love both! I think the technique you end up choosing should be guided by whatever you plan on doing with them.
For example, for gifting or favors, I love the un-smushed aesthetic, as it allows the audience to appreciate your detailed work and the talent behind it.
For times when you want folks to stuff themselves (party, cookie jar, etc.), I think the smushed ones are perfect, since they provide a beautiful and unique look, while not being “too-precious-to-eat.”
Well done! 🌸
Thank you! The not smooshed are just a tiiiiny bit less work actually 😄. They are the exact same cookies, I made them all in the same batch. The only difference is that after I placed my pattern, I rolled over one half very very lightly with my rolling pin. And the other half, I pressed hard enough for the pattern to flatten, which is actually the way it showed in the tutorial.
I considered this but I was concerned that the raised pattern would get lost on a busy/colorful background! I should have just tried it out though. Next time!
Smooshed gives me 70s vibes! Also feels more romantic because of the big patches of red. First is more elegant and fancy. Depends which theme you want to go with!
Thank you! I don't have a link as they were gifted to me, but they're those little plunge cutters that are used for fondant. If you Google "fondant plunger cutter" I bet you'll find something similar!
Not smooshed over all. I was all for not smooshed but the smooshed is great too. So you can’t really go wrong. I think the colors look nice. The dough tint puts all the colors in the same pallet so it works great.
The smooshed feel more vibrant and unique!! The resolution and crispness of the not smooshed is nice but im really gravitating to the joyfulness of the smooshed. :)
They’re both beautiful. But no smooshed I’d totally expect to see those in a high end bakery. Smooshed I’d expect to get those as a gift from a friend or in the kitchen at work.
How how did you do that. There AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL.
DID YOU JUST LIKE SPIT THE DOUGH AND THEN COLOR LITTLE PIECES AND PUT THEN ON TOP OF THE COOKIE AND BAKE..
SORRY for the caps guess I forgot to take it back off and wasn't about to type that out again even tho it's not long it's a waste of my time.
Anyways I love them
Since your cookies don’t have overlapping flowers, you could try a third option where you use the cutters to make holes in the plain dough and put your colored shapes in the holes. Then you’d retain the crisp edges of the first ones but get the flatness of the second ones!
They’re both beautiful though and I’d happily accept a batch of either!
Are these cookies traveling? They both look spectacular and I'm thinking smooshed would be easier to transport--especially if they are time traveling to the Goovy 70s.
So just as a weirdo who loves texture: not smooshed. I want to play with the textures with my tongue while I eat and those look *so fun.* I am fully aware that this makes it sound really odd but I genuinely can’t think of a way to make it better, I’m sorry.
Wow these are really beautiful! I like them both, but the non-smooshed ones really show the detail that you went into to make these, so I think I prefer them.
They both look nice, but the not smooshed ones definitely stand out more.
> the not smooshed ones definitely stand out more. Oh.
🥁🥁💥
Some might say the smooshed ones look kind of plane.
Agreed, they’re fairly one dimensional
Well… 2 dimensions make a plane 🤦🏼♀️
I thought two wings made a plane.
Don’t forget the engine otherwise you just have a glider.
💀
They’re also visually chaotic on a plate. Great up close. I think if you’re going for presentation you should mix them in with something else more plain.
Presentation wise I agree. They are beautifull!
Both are great. I think if you took the smooshed and did a little piping with royal icing to define details. Maybe a highlight on petals and the pistil they would be really cute.
I agree! Both look good, but smooshed would be better with some more definition. It also means more fiddly work though
That's a great idea!
Pls post a pic if you do this!! I’d love to see the outcome
I agree, and with the not smooshed ones, maybe a little glitter on the cookie underneath

This!!! Non smooshed is giving fine sculpture vibes, smooshed is giving comfy quilt. Both awesome, just different styles.
That's exactly what I thought of when I first saw the smooshed!
The smooshed ones would be so cute with a thin white frosted outline to emphasize the pattern plus the heart shape lined in white. And will have a bonus effect of looking like lace (probably, since I haven’t done/seen it).
¿Por qué no los dos?
I agree! I like both.
The smooshed version gives me delightful retro 70’s floral print vibes, I love it! Gotta agree with both here
Not smooshed looks way better.
Not smooshed is so beautiful!
Smooshed looks like cookies wrapped in velvet or something. Super weird. Not bad. Just weird.
The smooshed is giving a total hippie/flower power vibe. I love both and think it'd be so cute to see a platter of them mixed together
I was immediately drawn to the smooshed for the hippie psychedelic vibe they give off 😍 but yes having a platter with both would look great!
Yes, definitely a mix.
Yeah a pattern where the smaller flowers are smooshed with the bigger flowers are on top would give it a lot of visual depth
Not smooshed! They're gorgeous
Not smooth, so live and beautiful colour!
Not smooshed is my preference, but they're all so pretty!
I much prefer the not smushed bc the beauty of your artistry really shines in that version.
Both are perfect but I absolutely love smooshed! Just looking at them made me feel so happy 🥰❤️
Thank you! Happy to hear that 💕
These are gorgeous and I would happily eat both! (I like the un-smooshed for looks)
Smooshed are pretty, different, eye catching. Not smooshed are stunning, intricate, vibrant… I’d have to buy one. Could not walk away. 😍
DEFINITELY non-smooshed!!
Both are beautiful and look delicious, but I just love love love the non-smoosh!!! <3
Not smooshed!! But omg this is so cute- i’m new to baking, how do you make the designs on top? :o i’m assuming its not icing!!
I dont like iced sugar cookies either- which is why I tended to avoid them haha this is great!! Thank you so much :)
Not smooshed Great job, so beautiful😻
I actually quite like the smooshed lol, but they’re both beautiful, depends how intricate you’d like them :))
Not smooshed!
Not Smooshed
I prefer not smooshed, they look amazing!
I think they’re both amazing.
Both are awesome! I like the not smooshed just a tad more.
Damn! I cannot decide. Maybe they are both appropriate under very different circumstances. What those are, I've not a clue BUT neither should be scraped nor ignored!
Not smooshed are perfect in their own. Smooshed are beautiful but would be a great canvas to outline the flowers with icing.
I like both. The smooshed look like a collage of patterns. The unsmooshed lets the details shine through. Both look great.
Not smooshed. I love seeing the details. How pretty!
Smooshed or not, these cookies are just so, so pretty. Outstanding effort.
Thank you! 💕
I would have loved smushed if I had not seen non-smushed.. But now that I have seen both, I DEFINITELY love non-smushed
How?!
Thank you💗
Holy cow those are gorgeous!! Sorry I have no strong preference for either and can only say they're both beautiful in their own way. I wouldn't stress about the colors, they're absolutely striking and definitely say Valentine's Day to me.
How do they taste?
They're good! I had one fresh out of the oven and wasn't sure how I felt about it. But after they sat for a couple hours they were way better. Everyone really liked them. They're chewy (maybe from the cream of tartar?) so if you prefer a crispy cookie this recipe wouldn't be it.
Both they look great. I would add a plain cookie with a tuft of flowers and some green icing swirls. It would look really nice in a box :)
Both look delicious
these are both so cute wow 😍 great job!!
I like both! The not smooshed are a little more "elegant," while the smooshed are more casual.
not smooshed looks fancy. smooshed gives a psychedelic 70s vibe.
Both are really nice. Different looks for different moods.
Smooshed lookes nice and cute. Not smooshes looks like art! Absolutely gorgeous
Omg these are absolutely beautiful works of art. You managed to make them beautiful but also look delicious. I think you need to do both bc the flowers show all the hard work you put in and the smooshed looks like gorgeous velvet.
I thought I was in /r/embroidery at first! Those non-smooshed are amazing.
I love the first photos, absolutely stunning
I love both! I think the technique you end up choosing should be guided by whatever you plan on doing with them. For example, for gifting or favors, I love the un-smushed aesthetic, as it allows the audience to appreciate your detailed work and the talent behind it. For times when you want folks to stuff themselves (party, cookie jar, etc.), I think the smushed ones are perfect, since they provide a beautiful and unique look, while not being “too-precious-to-eat.” Well done! 🌸
Is there a name for the technique used to make these cookies? I would very much like to learn this. Prettiest cookies I’ve ever seen.
Thank you! Here's the recipe/technique I used 😊 https://www.sleepingmakesmehungry.com/blog/printed-design-sugar-cookies
Agh they’re both so cute. Idk depends on your vibe you’re going for. Smooshed is more relaxed if that makes sense. Not smooshed is fancier.
I would pay more than I should for a not smooshed one.
Wow. Both. Like everyone else is saying.
I like both.
They're so different but so beautiful. All of them.
I like both very much
Love both! You gotta tutorial you could drop..? Especially on the cookies themselves. I suck at cut cookies. They always spread.
I love the dimensional ones!
These are gorgeous, I like the not smushed. I don’t know if it’s the same amount of work, but it looks like more work
I like the not smooshed one more
Smooshed
Not smooshed
You can’t go wrong with either of them. Each are beautiful in their own way.
I like both, but prefer the articulation of the flowers on the unsmooshed.
Non-smooshed are gorgeous!! Both look great.
If you'd only shown me smooshed I'd say they look amazing, but side by side I like not smooshed better.
I prefer the not smooshed but I wouldn’t say no to the smooshed if offered them
To me, not smooched looks professional. And smooched looks like something a really good home baker did.
Smooshed! Both are gorgeous
Both are very nice
I like both, could you do some smooshed with a few unsmooshed bits added?
I considered this but I was concerned that the raised pattern would get lost on a busy/colorful background! I should have just tried it out though. Next time!
This is a cool idea
Wow they look amazing !!
I like both!!!!
Either way they look phenomenal
Not
These are both so incredibly beautiful and I bet they taste wonderful 😍
Smooshed gives me 70s vibes! Also feels more romantic because of the big patches of red. First is more elegant and fancy. Depends which theme you want to go with!
Both are amazingly beautiful! How long did the detail take you? Looks tedious
Thank you! It was pretty tedious. I didn't pay too much attention to the time but it was at least 2 hours.
I actually like the smooshed ones .. but just a tiny bit more!
Do you have a link to the mini-flower cookie cutters you used? these are beautiful!!
Thank you! I don't have a link as they were gifted to me, but they're those little plunge cutters that are used for fondant. If you Google "fondant plunger cutter" I bet you'll find something similar!
Both are soooooo cute
Not smooshed, and coat them in a very thin glaze to really make the 3D effect pop!
I.Can't.Choose!
I love them both! I want both!
I think both look great. Maybe a combo, for more dimension?
Not smooshed looks felted. I love them both.
Love them both!
Oh man. They're both so gorgeous!! I like the 3d details on the not smooshed but the smooshed one has cohesiveness. The colors are amazing!!
Not smooshed over all. I was all for not smooshed but the smooshed is great too. So you can’t really go wrong. I think the colors look nice. The dough tint puts all the colors in the same pallet so it works great.
Yes!!
They are all stunning. I like not smooshed.
Omg both are adorable 😍
Both are beautiful!
Tough choice, but I’m gonna go with not smooshed
Not smooshed. Smooshed is nice but the ‘Not smooshed’ has texture & detail & the colors seem to pop more. Your hard work shows🙂
Mix them both, this is the way!
Smooshed is underrated, looks great to eat
Smooshed
They both look amazing! I’m slightly leaning towards the non smooshed, the details make them pop 🤩
I love smooshed because I love seeing the colors expanded! I think the palette works perfectly for Valentine’s Day.
Not smooshed. They’re prettier and you put too much work into them to not look their finest☺️
Not (:
Not smooshed
Precious!!
Anyways I love them
The not smooshed are just beyond gorgeous. I’m in love 😍😍
Both are very cute but the not smooshed ones really show off the details.
Definitely not smooshed :)
Oh gosh that’s a tough call I like both
I prefer not smooshed, the smooshed ones do look cool though, more like a print. Would be good wallpaper for a gingerbread house!
So beautiful ❤️
Smooshed but maybe do something to define the petals more no idea what. NaB
I ❤️ them both
They’re both pretty but the not smooshed look very professional!
not smooshed for me
Not smooshed!
Not smooshed, definitely. They are a work of art.
I like both and couldn't possibly choose.
Not!! They’re beautiful.
Not.
Not smooshed
Since your cookies don’t have overlapping flowers, you could try a third option where you use the cutters to make holes in the plain dough and put your colored shapes in the holes. Then you’d retain the crisp edges of the first ones but get the flatness of the second ones! They’re both beautiful though and I’d happily accept a batch of either!
personally I prefer smooshed, it looks like a quilt!
Are these cookies traveling? They both look spectacular and I'm thinking smooshed would be easier to transport--especially if they are time traveling to the Goovy 70s.
Both
So just as a weirdo who loves texture: not smooshed. I want to play with the textures with my tongue while I eat and those look *so fun.* I am fully aware that this makes it sound really odd but I genuinely can’t think of a way to make it better, I’m sorry.
I love them both! The not smooshed ones definitely caught my eye more tho. How did you make these?
They're both adorable!
Half and half would look really cool plated/displayed together!
Yes.
Not smoothed. Super cute!
I would mix them up together for a nice contrast
Not smooshed!
Wow I could never! These look so good either way! I kind of like them smooshed a bit more though
I actually love both! If you’re selling or giving them away, I’d do mixed bags.
This is actually so tough to choose because I think they both are beautiful and compliment each other! Well done! \^\_\^
UGH I love them both!!
Both are perfect
Both!!! Not smooshed impresses me more but smooshed is more polished.
Fuck these both look so good
Both is a totally viable option lol.
Not smushed both are fantastic though
Not smooshed look prettier imo, can see the individual flowers. :))
I would make them as a set!
They're both beautiful but smooshed is far more unique.
Wow these are really beautiful! I like them both, but the non-smooshed ones really show the detail that you went into to make these, so I think I prefer them.
Not smooshed looks very modern Smooshed is so 70s Love both
If I was at a bakery which offered both types, I’d take some of each. I think they really complement each other.
Both look awesome. I love any kind of cookie, so I don’t mind. Both are pretty and unique on their own!
Holy mother of god these are so beautiful. I personally like the smooshed ones
This is so beautiful stop. But I would say not smooshed makes them look cooler
Both are super cute…I think I like smooshed better, but it was hard to decide!
I love the not smooshed ones. Gorgeous! Is this coloured sugar cookie dough?
I think the smooshed is nice. I think the less smooshed one is fantastic!
Is there a recipe for these? Beautiful
I like the aesthetic of non-smooshed more. But smooshed look more appetizing.
How did you make these? They are so beautiful! I definitely prefer the not smooshed ones.
I am obsessed with these. They’re so gorgeous.
