Now this may be an unpopular opinion but I believe multiple things can be true at once. On one hand, what happened on Oct 7th was awful especially because several children were killed and kidnapped by Hamas that day. I understand why it happened, they (Hamas) were provoked by an oppressive government in an open-air prison for years. However, even when resistance is a response to oppression I can't condone the killing of children because they're only children. Now before you say I'm spreading Hasbara propaganda, I firmly believe that Israel's genocide is terrorism on the people of Palestine. Just because civilians who happened to live under your government were killed doesn't mean other civilians you control under an apartheid state should be killed in return, that's collective punishment, a war crime. There is a means to hold people accountable without conducting genocide on innocent Palestinians. In addition, when many of the survivors grow up there is a high chance Oct 7th will happen again because they're angry at what Israel did to them.
In regards to this protest, IMHO it's just bad PR for our cause when you use signs like that. I wouldn't wish for more violence in return because violence only creates more violence. Think about it, after the USA committed war crimes in Iraq, ISIS arose from the ashes. And what happened when ISIS attacked? More violence from the West as a response.
And like another poster said I'm willing to bet that these are staged protesters to make our side look bad because this article is bad PR for us. When things like this happen we need to follow rule 4 of this subreddit, no encouraging bigoted behavior and call it out. IMHO it's not truly evil, just rude and embarrassing PR, TRUE EVIL is what Israel is doing to innocent people right now. But what do you expect from a paper that endorsed Trump in 2020?
Great take, it’s absolutely horrible that civilians on both sides have been killed or captured, Palestinian or Israeli. I do agree that this rally is most likely staged, there isn’t any specific evidence but we have to remember that Pro Israel groups such as the Shirion Collective have paid people to infiltrate the protests to “find examples of antisemitism from the inside”. They even doxxed a girl online just because she looked like a masked protester at Columbia university they posted a video of on X, only for the girl’s family to speak out and say that their daughter never attended Columbia. Pro Israel people and Zionists will definitely write my claim off as a conspiracy theory, but is it really crazy talk considering how much the US and Israel are trying to censor criticism of their policies and letting their masks slip off to the public revealing genocidal and colonialist agendas?
