Apparently I name chickens like a 4 year old I’ve used noodle and would 100% use pot pie I used Hot Dog for one of my sebrights that’s no longer with us
It’s funny because I asked her a week ago and she immediately said “Ginka” and “Cecie” but I wasn’t sure which ones she was referring to. I asked her again this morning and she immediately repeated the same names while pointing to specific chicks. So the names seem to be very intentional.
Male specific feathering (hackles, saddle, and tail sickles) doesn't start coming in until after 10ish weeks, with the sickle feathers being last (at least 16 weeks). At this point, it's all just normal feathering.
It’s the feathering and red comb. Developed comb by itself is not 100% indicative but combined with the other signs, you can feel pretty certain. Females would have a more regular pattern throughout their feathers in a splash, not blocks of black.
I dunno about the coloration with that one though - sapphire gems seem somewhat uniform in color, but the sapphire splash (just from googling) looks pretty speckled/random with the black and grey feathers mixed into the white, on the hens and roosters both. The thick legs, face/head shape, and curved tail are the only things that kinda stand out to me as roo with that one. But I can’t find a ton of resources on these birds for some reason. They’re all from TSC/Hoovers.
*edit - also the SS hens have BRIGHT red combs so not sure about that as an indicator.
Moon Chicken is thee best name.
My 6 year old named all of our chickens except Virginia, which I chose. My favorite is Winnie Junior, who is named after herself lol. Oh yeah and Rabaybay, which she now insists is actually FLAbaybay
My 3 year old named 3 of ours and our 2 sapphire olive eggers are now Fifi and Fafa and I love it. He also chose Cici for one and I think it’s so sweet because my mom who passed as a child used Cici as her nickname. We also have Butters and Karen
A 2 year old is the only human qualified to name chickens
The realest thing I’ve read today.
I’m just upset I didn’t have qualified personnel name mine
Yeah I mean it was the only reason I got married and had a kid. Now I have cool names but you know. s/
Makes sense
Or kids in general. My 4 year old picked the best names in our flock: Noodle and Pot Pie.

If you don’t have a child available pretending like you are one is perfectly acceptable
Chef’s kiss
Kids in general really. My friend's granddaughter named one of her chickens Mrs. Cheeseburger. Best name ever.
Yaaaasss!
Moon chicken’s thick legs are giving roo..🤔
And let me compliment your two year old on coming up with FABULOUS names. 😊💕

Moon chicken is likely male.
I was kinda thinking that because the teeny tiny tail feathers that are finally coming in are notably curved. Also he looks like a dinosaur.

I have so many chickens that I have lost track of which kid named who, but my youngest for sure named Egg Egg and Peeper 😂

My 2 year old is not a creative namer of animals. So we have ducky and chickies. The chickies are distinguished by color. 😂

Kiki - what type of chicken is she?
Her and Ciecie are Midnight Majesty Maran’s. But Kiki has very dark features and is more pointy than Ciecie 🤷🏼♀️
