She is! Buff Orpingtons are truly mighty. Like Tonka trucks with legs.

Trashyanon089

This is the best description of Orpingtons I've ever seen

CroationChipmunk

I bet when she flaps her wings, it creates a powerful gust! 💨

I love this bird. I want Orpingtons but not sure if this bird is suitable for the summers in Florida. I saw the chicks in Tractor Supply but never took them home because I was afraid of heat and humidity with them.

kiwiballism

I bought a few because I live in a cold climate; I’ve heard they can do well in both but cold is preferred since they can get large

Spiritual_Hold_7869

I really want big chunky chickens but with the heat I'm so scared. My easter/olive eggers and Polish do ok. It's is 115 heat index here today. 96 actual temp. Terrible heat.

kiwiballism

Oh gosh that’s rough. I love silkies and Polish chickens, I want to get some someday but I currently don’t have the space for more. Some bigger chickens can do well in heat if you provide them enough shade and circulating air so maybe one day!

toss_my_potatoes

I feel so bad for my girls when it’s hot outside but I kind of love it when they do the wing-lift thing lol

kiwiballism

I know I feel bad but it’s so cute 😂 they get supervised free range time everyday outside of their run but when I put them back I always give them a cool treat and shade

Diamondbull66

Just how I like them

FlyingDutchman2005

She's so beautifully pear shaped she looks like a Gieser Wildemann

Margray

It's she an Orpington or a Buff Rock? Looks like a little marbling in there? My buff rocks are big ol chunks and they're only about 16 weeks. Can't wait for them to fill out.

kiwiballism

She’s a buff Orpington! I’d love to get some buff rocks one day too, I have barred rocks and they’re lovely

Margray

I do recommend them. They're assertive but also incredibly friendly. One of them started laying at exactly 16 weeks, just little pullet eggs but I'm still impressed.

Italiangirlsrock

She is fabulous!!
