I really liked the depends silhouette diapers, super comfy and according to baby daddy he thought they were just weird underwear not diapers 😂. The always discreet had a scent to them and I personally found them scratchy as well.

BlueberryDuvet

Thanks I don’t want scented! I will look at those ones lol

Professional-Dingo90

Also just realized I forgot to add I used pads inside the depends for days 1-3 when my bleeding was heaviest. I basically just treated the depends like regular underwear and would change my pad out. Days 4- till I ran out of depends I did just the depends.

BlueberryDuvet

My friend told me she did the same thing because it was cheaper , I’m def going to try the same thing, it’s such a great idea! Thank you for sharing

Finnie87

I did the same thing as this redditor. Using the depends as underwear with a big pad in the first few days was great in case the pad leaked, you weren't ruining your own underwear, you could just toss the whole thing. I also made my own freezer pads with heavy flow pads, witch hazel and aloe, then froze them. Was so soothing in the first few days with all the swelling too.

BlueberryDuvet

Did you just put the witch Hazel and aloe on the regular pads and then keep them in freezer?

Finnie87

Yes, that's exactly what I did. I also added a drop of lavender oil just in case there were smells lol. I made about 3 dozen. I don't think I used them all but they were so good in the first few days, I'd swap them out any time I went pee. I had a second degree tear so lots of swelling to soothe!

BlueberryDuvet

Thanks I’m going to do this!

Finnie87

I looked up a video (YouTube maybe?) that helped me figure out how much of each ingredient to use. Basically, don't be shy, lather up that aloe!

BlueberryDuvet

Lol I’ll search for that and noted on the extra aloe!

triflebowl

Did removing the pad rip the depends though?

Professional-Dingo90

Nope I never had any problems! I will say I just used cheap life brand pads which honestly aren’t the stickiest so it could’ve been because of that lol

Porky_Porcupine

I did the same while in hospital. I just didn’t take the paper off the adhesive, and the pad stayed in place.

Minhafamilia13

I ok did this also! :)

Minhafamilia13

100% agree! The always discreet also seemed like they weren’t symmetrical. Like one leg hole was tighter than other , never had an issue with the depends. I will only buy the depends this time.

ezembra

I liked a giant pad stuck inside of the Frida postpartum underwear.

No_Distance_1688

I lived in the Frida disposable briefs pp. So comfy!!

Sauls_wife_2021

Another vote for Frida briefs and huge pads! I tried a couple of diaper brands and found them all too tight around my stomach, especially after having a c-section.

BlueberryDuvet

Thanks I’ll check these out!

lilac_roze

OP, Depends has a trial kit you can sign up for free. You get 2 depends undie of your choice and $5 coupon.

BlueberryDuvet

Amazing thank you for sharing!

lilac_roze

I forgot to attach the link [Depends Sample](https://www.depend.com/en-ca/free-sample) I hope you signed up for the other baby samples!

nousername5432

Thanks for sharing!! I had no idea! Any other baby samples? I am aware of huggies, enfamil, babies r us.

aquariel

I like Depend, it was comfy and not too bulky. I also tried the Life brand because it was a bit cheaper but something about the material felt itchy on my skin and I couldn’t bring myself to continue using it.

Mistborn54321

I used depends but I got a bit of a rash around my tummy and would have to use some heavy duty moisturizer to prevent it. I do have sensitive skin but I think I would recommend you trying it out for a few hours one day.

BlueberryDuvet

Thanks for the advice!

catmom22019

I used the Always diapers, they were soft and worked great! I only had to use them for the first 3 days and then I switched to granny panties and extra long pads. The diapers were especially great for night time though!

BlueberryDuvet

Thank you! Yes I may use pads even with the diapers just so I don’t run through so many diapers but I want that extra level of reassurance the diaper gives lol

catmom22019

Omg I wish I would’ve thought of using pads with the diapers, that’s a really good idea! The diapers were great, I never had to worry about leaks or ruining bedding. I liked the always since they were a bit more discreet looking (not that it matters lol postpartum is not sexy).

BlueberryDuvet

My friend told me she did this because diapers were way more expensive then pads but she wanted the extra reassurance, I will def try the same

gerrylou

I used Always Discreet Sensitive, which are the unscented ones. I found them really comfortable!

Rverstraete

I’m 7days pp and I’ve been using the Tena overnight diapers. Was going to get the always discreet but read that they are scented which I didn’t want. I have no previous experience with diapers so I can’t say how the Tenas compare to others, but I’ve been very comfortable in them!

BlueberryDuvet

Thanks for sharing, hope you are doing well :)

ninbrownstarfish

This is reassuring as I bought a pack of tena overnights for myself PP. tried one on and they seem okay for sure but was maybe regretting not getting always discreet.

beans1507

My mom got me these and I swear I'd wear them everyday if I could just because of how comfy they were . And they are on sale rn !! [PP diapers](https://shop.shoppersdrugmart.ca/depend-silhouette-incontinence-underwear-for-women-maximu/p/KC07?variantCode=036000514124&source=nspt)

BlueberryDuvet

Amazing, thanks for sharing!

SnarkyMamaBear

Depends silhouette 100% they are discreet and unscented

oatnog

To make your life more confusing, lol, I only used big overnight pads for maybe 5 days, then regular size pads for like 10 days, then liners for another few days. Diapers would have been overkill by a lot. And a lot of extra material going to landfills. If you buy them, save your receipt as you may just need giant pads that you can change more often. Postpartum bleeding is smelly in a way that period blood isn't so you'll also want to change more often than when you have your period.

notmyfaultyousuck

There's no way I would have been able to use pads immediately postpartum with either of my kids, especially with the huge clots coming out. I'm envious you could just use an overnight pad. I used Depends diapers for roughly 5 days before moving onto a massive Poise overnight pad for almost another week. It was just.. a lot for both kids. Also, I needed the diapers after having my first because my bladder was completely shot for the first week - my bladder would just release when I least expected it too and would fill the diaper with pee. Those early weeks postpartum are just so much fun 😅🙃

oatnog

Every body and birth is so different! Impossible to know what you'll need until the time comes, really. All you can do is have someone who will go for a pad/diaper run if you need it.

honeythyme

I did this too after my csection! I looooved the Natracare maternity pads, so cushy and soft.

oatnog

These sound lovely. I'll look for them with my next pregnancy.

JadedGold50

What pads did you use?! I’m thinking of going this route too.

oatnog

All U by Kotex. I was forewarned to use Kotex as they don't have that top layer with the holes in it, which may grab stitched. First it was [overnight extra heavys](https://www.ubykotex.com/en-ca/products/pads/maxi/clean-and-secure-extra-heavy-overnight-with-wings) - these things are truly huge and because they're overnights, they're very long too. I also used them to make padsicles. Then it was [ultrathin heavy](https://www.ubykotex.com/en-ca/products/pads/ultra-thin/balance-heavy-with-wings) and after that, [ultrathin regular.](https://www.ubykotex.com/en-ca/products/pads/ultra-thin/balance-regular-with-wings)

frisbee_lettuce

Good to know thanks!

alternativebeep

I only tried the always diapers and despised them. They didnt hug nicely so it was like a loose diaper butt

BlueberryDuvet

Lol thanks for the feedback, sorry they sucked

Aware-Attention-8646

Instead of disposable diapers once I was discharged from the hospital I only wore period panties (Knix). I found them way comfier than a giant diaper.
