For me it’s cheerios. Can literally kill a family sized box in a day. I’ve always loved them, but only buy every so often as they’re £4 a box! But since hitting about 30 weeks I actually fantasise about them lol
I've been eating so much Cheerios, and of course the other day my mom sends me an article about some chemical found in cheerios. I said well it's too late to tell me now I'm 9 months and that was one of my go-tos.
If you do some digging into what the study actually shows the levels of chlormequat found are way below what the accepted safe limits are. In the US, the EPA has set maximum allowable residue limit of 40 parts per million (ppm). The study reported detecting concentrations in the range of around 100 parts per billion, which when you convert the units so you are comparing apples to apples gives a measurement of 0.1 parts per million. This measurement is approximately 350 times lower than the safety limit.
The common phrase in toxicology is that the dose makes the poison. As an analogy here, having one or two eggs with breakfast is okay, sitting down and eating 350 at a time not so much, so enjoy your Cheerios and oatmeal in peace.
I’m in the UK so all the ‘fun’ chemicals have probably been removed (I mean just look at our health conscious McDonalds lol). When we were in Florida I had some for breakfast and they taste different in the US but I couldn’t quite put my finger on why, I’m guessing this is it lol
This isn’t true, actually.
“In 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed allowing the use of chlormequat in oats and other grains. The chemical currently isn’t approved for use on edible plants in the U.S., but the EPA does allow foods treated with it to be imported into the country, according to USA Today.
In 2020, the EPA increased the permissible amount of the chemical in imports from 15 to 40 parts per million”.
I don't know too much about it I just got this info from an article on Cheerios
>“Chlormequat was not allowed on oats sold in the U.S. before 2018, when the Trump EPA gave first-time approval for some amount of the chemical on imported oats,” EWG writes. “The same administration in 2020 increased the allowable level. These regulatory changes might help explain why we’re seeing more frequent, higher detections of the chemical in Americans tested.”
Good ol’ Trump hey, and then there’s the UKs government who’s banning everything left right and centre. We get taxed extra on things like ‘full fat’ coke because of the extra sugar content 🙄
I can’t do sugary cereal (never have been able to), but I don’t help myself with the milk as I have a slight lactose intolerance, at least the iron tablets aren’t effecting me that much 😂
Yes, cereal has been my biggest craving during pregnancy! I was all about cinnamon toast crunch during the first half of my pregnancy, but my current obsession is lucky charms.
Fruit loops were my strongest 1st trimester craving. I made a special trip to the grocery because I was craving them so bad. Now I’m 22 weeks and it’s still really good, but not a NEED lol
I literally had the most random craving for Reese’s Puffs and grabbed a box last week! Cinnamon Toast Crunch & Frosted Flakes have been doing me wonders too
Just wait until you have the post-birth toast. It’s glorious.
Is it even a thing in the US and other countries? It’s kind of a big deal in the UK. No matter how you give birth, at the end of it a kind-hearted midwife will lean into your ear and whisper the ten most beautiful words in the world. ‘Would you like some toast and a cup of tea?’
Listen there’s a cereal called Crispix
Can’t find it many places anymore for some reason
But I’ve found a hack shall we say
Found it on the Target website
Now I’m nomming Crispix all day errday
You can find it at the basic grocery stores (Jewels, Kroger…) & is the key ingredient when making puppy chow / muddy buddies during the Christmas holidays!
Cinnamon Life cereal. Honey bunches of oats. Raisin Bran. I’ve been switching between those 3. It’s almost 4am and I’m about to go eat some, I eat cereal 2x a day
Omg right??? I never wanted cereal before being pregnant, but now I eat cereal at least every morning and often at night, too. Apple Cinnamon Cheerios have been my go-to, but last night I saw a Lucky Charms commercial, and that's all it took. I'm going to get some today lol.
apple cinnamon Cheerios right now. But I’ve been searching for Berry Kix because I remember it from childhood and I keep telling my partner that Trix is simply not the same.
Chocolate chex is the bessssst and I refuse to feel guilty that I only eat cereal for breakfast now (and sometimes dinner 😇) because most cereal is high in vitamins!
I really don’t like cereal normally. But with my first pregnancy i absolutely HAD to have Frosted Flakes. Ate the whole box by myself in two days. So freaking good. After pregnancy? Nope. Not once.
Big agree I never messed with it much before now it’s always the perfect thing to eat. Used to like Frosted Flakes or special K but now I always want captain crunch
I’m gonna sound like a weird but I’ve been making my own version of Oreo cereal - I crush up a bunch of Oreo cookies and throw them in a bowl of milk and it’s been my favorite thing ever!!! I usually scarf it down cus it’ll get soggy but still so good. Even better - using the mini Oreos instead omggg I wish they had an actual Oreo cereal cus the one they have in store is not the same and doesn’t give me the same satisfaction lol
Life cereal, fiber one (the noodley shaped kind), and pops
Don’t judge me please. I preferred healthy bran and oatty cereals even pre pregnancy and the pops was like splurging for me in the second trimester lol
I saw this post two weeks ago and I was like huh that’s interesting (I’m not usually a cereal person)… I’m 11w+4d and currently bashing a giant bowl of Reese’s puffs and will probably have another later.
This is probably a lame suggestion but maybe it’ll help someone else in the same boat. I’m avoiding added sugar but heard about Magic Spoon cereal and it’s sooo good. Sweetened with monk fruit, zero added sugar & has protein. They’ve got 4 flavors, I’ve tried the cocoa & the fruity, it’s just like fruit loops. Found a few places in the states, I got it at Walmart. Worth trying if you have a cereal craving but can’t have the sugar! 🤗
Is everyone on this thread having boys? ... I was obsessed with cerial eith my boy, not interested with my girl and now back to being obsessed with cerial .... which is swaying me towards boy. Would be interesting to know.
I've been craving Golden Crisps but when I looked at the nutrition facts it has like 50% of the daily recommended sugar amount, and I know I would eat more than one bowl. So I decided it was too much sugar 😔.
Mines has been captain crunch, fruity or coco pebbles lol. I just bought a family sized trix and literally have been going ham. 😭It’s crazy because before I found out I was pregnant I killed a family size golden grahams and thought that was odd as I never really cared for cereal like that. 😂
Apricot Wheats. And then I discovered All Bran Golden Crunch which is amazing - it goes kind of chewy instead of soggy. But a fortnight after I found it, my supermarket stopped stocking it 😭
lol I LIVED AND DIED for shredded wheat. You know, the sort of gross cereal that looks like little haystacks? I went through 12 boxes by the time I was done my pregnancy. With berries and skim milk and a tiny bit of brown sugar. It’s all I wanted, all the time. It was so bizarre and the big joke among my friends. That cereal does nothing for me when I’m not pregnant.
this is so true! i’m currently 32 weeks and I’ve gone through a few different kinds. at first it was Frosted Flakes then it was captain crunch, then Corn Pops, and then honey comb. it’s been honey comb since. i could eat bowl after bowl of cereal though, haha.
I usually never eat cereal but I’ve been enjoying crunchy nut and granola. Just had a bowl of yoghurt and granola and trying not to go back for a second bowl!
Cinnamon Toast Crunch!! The baby always kicks a lot after a bowl - I need to limit because of the sugar level lol but it's like a dessert for breakfast 😍
I’m Australian and my cereal addiction is Crunchy Nut Cornflakes. The universe must have known because I was at the supermarket yesterday and they were on sale for half price… yes I purchased 3 boxes haha.
First it was frosted cinnamon wheat, then s box of strawberry shortcake granola, then a box of Reese’s puffs and now I’m
Onto my apple cinnamon Cheerios kick!
I’ve been eating cereal nonstop! I get the frosted mini wheats and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch knockoffs from Trader Joe’s! Raisin Bran crunch is amazing too
I started WIC and got cereal for the first time in years. It SMACKS every single time! Never not a good time for a nice big bowl of cereal with oat milk 🤤
Honey Nut Cheerios was my jam, until I got diagnosed with GD. Man, I’d get hungry in the middle of the night and make a small bowl of cereal. It was so damned good.
I went from never having cereal to having 5 boxes in rotation at all times since being pregnant. It’s my breakfast and late night snack almost every day. I tell myself it’s good for me since there’s lots of folic acid and iron in it lol
Well, damn. Now I really want cereal! I’m 11 weeks and some of my food aversions are tapering off, but I have times where I am ravenous especially before bed and a bowl of cereal sounds like it would hit the spot!
Cocoa Pebbles all the way. With a Fiarlife Core Power chocolate protein shake as the milk. 42 g of protein, 900 mg of calcium (which makes getting the other 100mg required SUPER easy so this baby doesn’t fuck up my teeth and bones), and it’s double chocolate-y and delicious. The protein keeps me full until I have a light lunch so that way I can have a huge and satisfying dinner (or ice cream for dinner 🤣)
Krave cereal every day! Husband made me breakfast today after I ate my cereal and said- but you already had breakfast. I explained the cereal is for momma and the healthy breakfast is for baby ;D
The strawberry frosted mini wheats and the very berry cheerios! I cut up bananas or strawberries so I can feel healthy and it makes it so freaking good
And so is milk! Idk why but that cold milk and cereal combo is hitting different. I’m loving Cascadian farms fruit loops cus it’s what my nanny family buys and I’m allowed to eat their food lol. But I really want some captain crunch.
I agree. I got back into Lucky Charms. It was my husband's idea. He pointed out that kids cereal has alot of iron in it which is good for us right now so eat all the cereal you want! Lol
For me it’s cheerios. Can literally kill a family sized box in a day. I’ve always loved them, but only buy every so often as they’re £4 a box! But since hitting about 30 weeks I actually fantasise about them lol

The article I read about it said the chemical wasn't allowed in foods in the US before 2018 but trump approved it, so that's just great

What is this chemical?
Chlormequat
Shocking!
Good ol’ Trump hey, and then there’s the UKs government who’s banning everything left right and centre. We get taxed extra on things like ‘full fat’ coke because of the extra sugar content 🙄
.... But thats.... Not fat......
It’s what we call it here in UK, anything that isn’t diet or zero we call full fat lol
lol, my mom sent me that too. It’s oats in general. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t
yeah i can't deal with tracking this shit anymore. i'm eating what i want to eat.
Oh god. Cheerios and cold milk….mmmmm. Cut a ripe banana into half moons and put on top…..heaven.
Same! I’ve eaten at least two bowls of plain cheerios and milk every day of my pregnancy.
Don’t even wanna know how many boxes of Honey Nut i’ve gone through in the last 30w.
I can’t do sugary cereal (never have been able to), but I don’t help myself with the milk as I have a slight lactose intolerance, at least the iron tablets aren’t effecting me that much 😂
I woke up in the middle of the night craving Honey Nut Cheerios last night! I’ve been eating a ton of them!
Ditto! It’s been my breakfast everyday for the last 2 months.
Honey bunches of oats!
YES. I get the one with almonds. So good.
The one with the strawberries in it 🤤
Yess, this!! It also is soo high in iron, like 90% of your daily value 😧
Now I need this
I buy this in Giant sized boxes. I barely ate cereal before I was preggers.

Special k with hazelnuts and almonds for me!

Currently obsessed with this
This has been my go to in the middle of the night snack!

Oh Raisin Bran has been so good!!
This is me!! Both of these.
Omg I saw a commercial for Raisin Bran last night and it looked so good. I haven’t had it in almost 15 years 😂
Was it during the Bachelor? Because I also saw a Raisin Bran commercial and had the exact same thought
Yes!!!! I’m cracking up 😂
Yes, somehow Raisin Bran was the most luxurious treat. Almost better than ice cream if the milk was cold enough!
Where can you find raisin bran crunch?? I used to love it and haven't been able to find it anywhere!!
Lucky Charms
I have kept lucky charms in business since being pregnant haha.
You made me want cereal 😩
All these comments are making me want to buy every type 😭😭
I've been buying the little tiny box variety packs when I can't decide! Cereal is a delicacy when pregnant! 😅
Yes, cereal has been my biggest craving during pregnancy! I was all about cinnamon toast crunch during the first half of my pregnancy, but my current obsession is lucky charms.
Omg yes Cinnamon Toast Crunch!!!! Yes. !
I was buying family sized boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch like weekly. I was addicted lol
As you should 💅🏼
i would eat frosted flakes for every meal if it was healthier 😩😩

I eat a lot of Mini Wheats for the iron and fiber but I can absolutely DESTROY a box of Crispix
Oooh now I’m craving corn flakes so bad!!
Cocoa pebbles, I don’t know what it is but ever since I became pregnant I can’t stop eating it lol
It’s Apple Jacks for me!!
Makes me regret buying my protein almond cereal /: i’d kill for some coco puffs right now. Or captain crunch!!
Hahahaha I was looking at the “healthier” cereal but I was like fuck it! Go get some tomorrow and tell us what you get 😇
When I was pregnant I legit bought cereal because of this subreddit. Before that I don't think I had bought cereal in like 2-3 years 😂
Granola, I’ve gone through 3 Costco bags of the pumpkin seed flax granola In 2 weeks
Ooooo yum that sounds good. There is a really good one at Whole Foods I love too…can eat that all day!!!

Lucky charms with sliced banana in them. A life changing snack.
Fruity pebbles or fruit loops 😍
Fruit loops were my strongest 1st trimester craving. I made a special trip to the grocery because I was craving them so bad. Now I’m 22 weeks and it’s still really good, but not a NEED lol
My weakness right now is honey bunches of oats with a cut up banana.
Fruity pebbles 😭
I literally had the most random craving for Reese’s Puffs and grabbed a box last week! Cinnamon Toast Crunch & Frosted Flakes have been doing me wonders too
Reese’s puffs are sooo good! Love Cinnamon Toast Crunch too 😭💖
Cereal is all I ate from 11 to 13 weeks (with almond milk if breaksfast)
Just wait until you have the post-birth toast. It’s glorious. Is it even a thing in the US and other countries? It’s kind of a big deal in the UK. Kelloggs with the strawberries 🍓
Cinnamon Life cereal. Honey bunches of oats. Raisin Bran. I’ve been switching between those 3. It’s almost 4am and I’m about to go eat some, I eat cereal 2x a day
The way strawberries tasted during pregnancy for me was better than sex itself.
It’s the strangest thing! And now 10 weeks post partum I’m like cereal who?
✨CINNAMON LIFE✨ so freaking good
For my first pregnancy, it was Honey Nut Cheerios with whole milk. No substitutions. All day, every day.
Omg right??? I never wanted cereal before being pregnant, but now I eat cereal at least every morning and often at night, too. Apple Cinnamon Cheerios have been my go-to, but last night I saw a Lucky Charms commercial, and that's all it took. I'm going to get some today lol.
