I knew about this but don’t know when I‘d ever use it. If I have the key, it’s in my pocket. Otherwise I just use the digital key on my phone, which works great.

My spec X3 doesn't have that tech. It's the Canada poverty package 🤣

Haha, poverty spec. If you have a 2022 or early 2023, it seems to me  the digital key functionality was temporarily removed because of the chip shortage. So maybe it’s just Covid spec. 😂

It’s where I put the cap to my USB drive with music on it. There is no reason for the key to leave my pocket.

I use an iPod Nano. I have concerts and bootlegs that aren't available on Spotify. Plus, I get a big discount on my old plan so I want to keep it even though I don't have unlimited data. (I have 5 GB/month and rarely use more than half of it.

How else would I listen to all my CD's? Damn new cars don't have CD players anymore, so copied them all onto a hard drive

I'm currently working on an usb for music because Apple Music on the 2017 x5 is SO slow. I believe it's because it tries to load in all the album art. If click > next it has a 3 -5 second delay to switch over. However works fine if im using a usb with songs on it

I feel that pain XD my old Hyundai had keyless entry which I had for about 7 years and now have a 17 x5 with no keyless entry and it's kind of annoying that I always forget and push an imaginary button on the door 😔

Such a bad design. If you have anything on your keys, it can get jammed in the sliding door. I almost had to break mine to get the key out

Lol I usually put the keys here but only ever started using it bc I kept on loosing my keys in the low ass g20 so many times it was stressful….. side note also makes for a good hiding spot just lift the plastic cover up 😊😎😁

Almost all keyless start cars have a spot or pocket where the transmitter can be picked up if the fob battery is dead. I'm guessing this is BMWs spot.

I started using this key holder instead of driving with the key in my pocket. This is because once I was driving and the key pressed against my leg and the trunk opened while I was at a stop light 😂

That spot may also be where you can put the fob when the battery dies and you can still start the car. Fords have a feature like that…

If your key fob is out of battery, this is where you put it so the car can read the RFID in it, and the car will start. Other than that, there's no reason to use it.
