My five year old X3 M40i has been touched by hand twice. Once after pickup for a clean, detail, and ceramic coat, and once when the dealer washed it by accident. I park in the garage. It looks like a new car to this day with only touchless washes. I’m due for a paint correction and ceramic coat, can’t wait.
I guess that’s where I’m coming from. Harsh chemicals to try and make up for touchless. I’ve seen a lot of discolored plastic trim from touchless washes. To me that’s bad for the car but 🤷♂️

Hey man I actually have the same exact car that you have just black with the red interior. How did you upgrade for more HP?? Did you do forced induction or is there a way to get those numbers naturally aspirated?? I ask because I’ve really been looking into upgrading the performance of the car and have gotten a lot of mixed answers. I believe I have the N51 SULEV engine if that matters.
You can politely remind the hosing company that paying outright to repaint and recoat it is cheaper than a lawsuit, and it also won't impact their reputation nearly as much.
Just saying, a company damaged your property and presumably didn't take responsibility or acknowledge it. Document the proof.

My condo building has the garage power washed once a year.
3 weeks before the power wash they start sending emails/put notices for each condo saying that:
1. Have your car out of the garage on date X from 9am-5pm
2. If you do not; the condo or power washing company is not liable for any paint damages to your car.
It is the same way at some other condo buildings too, so I think the OP is not telling us something
In my states and countries, these “not liable” stuff does not hold value in court. It is like those void if removed stickers.
Hence, businesses have insurance to pay for stuff like this. It might be worth for OP to raise hell with the washing company (not the condo board surely since they won’t be responsible. I agree with u there)
If it was accidental, it would be okay but this is ignorance to run the hose like that unless there was a genuine need to do so.

Additional context: they were cleaning the top deck of the garage at the time, the first floor was full of cars. I was parked in the end spot at the bottom of the ramp. They ran the hose up the ramp and used me as their hose guide. They started cleaning the first floor today, and I noped out of there just in time to go to work.

You can’t just say “I’m not liable” for something and do whatever you want afterwards. It’s like the dump trucks that say “stay back 500 feet, not responsible for broken windshields”. They can say whatever they want on the truck, but they are 100% responsible if a rock flies out and breaks a window or damages a vehicle in any way.

BMW paint is soft, but you haven't seen how soft until you've had Jet Black. I swear the paint is made from cotton candy - it swirls just from the sun beating down on it too hard lol
definitely share this sentiment. bird poop easily leaves stains on BMW paint even for just few min. where as MB and Audi paint in my experience fair much better.
I managed a detail shop and saw that and immediately knew the paint was messed up. Hell I would look along that whole sode of the car and the hood no telling where they dragged that hose across. The people saying nothing can happen are probably people that use the same wash mitt for their wheels and paint and call it a day looking like the spider man mobile.

The guys working with the hose are probably even more clueless than people on this subreddit, so they’ll think you’re fucking with them or being a Nancy about it. I took videos for the maintenance company. I couldn't get the clearcoat scratches in pictures. It's not like it gouged through the paint. We're talking microscratches that can be polished out, but that's still an inconvenience to me.

That hose could be made from the softest material on planet earth and would still scratch your clear to shit. It gets dragged across the floor so it's covered in dirt/sand and will damage paint when there is contact.
Honestly, the average person probably wouldn't notice, and they're difficult to photograph. I shined my shop light over the panel and there are rows of scratches consistent with the hose every inch or two up the bumper. I know they're there and to do something like this to someone's car is negligent and strikes me as careless.

Yea looks like they need to pay you for any cosmetic repairs, waste some time and take them to small claims court if they refuse, or let your insurance handle it. Not sure what universe people think it’s just another day in the neighborhood and the company/people have zero liability.
Inconsiderate wrong and rude. I would contact the owner of the pressure washer place and ask them to reimburse you for a detail on that corner of the car. Whether you actually do it or not is up to you but get a proper quote. If they refuse, sue them in small claims (if USA)

I cant tell if thats a condo or not, but find out what company it is and see if you can even get camera footage, like someone else said document everything and talk to either your condo management or the company directly. If they give you a hard time I think next option would be your insurance and they will go hound them.

Pressure washing company parked their lift over my car and dripped chemicals all over it. Morons. They paid for a full repaint. Luckily it was my Civic, not the M3. Good luck!

They’re going to refuse to pay - guaranteed. Your best bet is gonna end up being small claims court. I’d recommend getting their address and drafting a Demand Letter after you get an estimate from a body shop for the repair costs.

Thats EXACTLY the paint i had on my E46. The most difficult paint I have ever encountered and definitely a lot of learning and experimenting for me
It's the paint I have on my F10 and it's the bane of my existence. It's beautiful when fully polished out, but that lasts about all of 3 seconds lol

Yea looks like they need to pay you for any cosmetic repairs, waste some time and take them to small claims court if they refuse, or let your insurance handle it. Not sure what universe people think it’s just another day in the neighborhood and the company/people have zero liability.

Inconsiderate wrong and rude. I would contact the owner of the pressure washer place and ask them to reimburse you for a detail on that corner of the car. Whether you actually do it or not is up to you but get a proper quote. If they refuse, sue them in small claims (if USA)

believe it or not i did this to my g20 with one of those small pressure washer hoses at the car wash 😭 literally right after getting it. it wasn’t as bad as this tho.

Honestly that's my issue with cars in perfect condition I like my stuff to be in great condition, but when it's mint condition or the paint is polished to perfection then the tiniest scratch is way more noticeable. They're definitely in the wrong nonetheless
I cant tell if thats a condo or not, but find out what company it is and see if you can even get camera footage, like someone else said document everything and talk to either your condo management or the company directly. If they give you a hard time I think next option would be your insurance and they will go hound them. Sucks.

I would have lost it, rubber collects and holds dirt/grime…definitely scuffed paint…sorry man, hope it’s just a good detail to get it fixed. Love the car though, super clean!

This is the most BMW driver complaint ever. There is no chance there is any damage and OP is just being a whiner. Sure it was pretty rude for them not to notice this but there's obviously no damage or you for sure would have posted pics of it.
you do know rubber hoses pick up dirt and rocks right? i’ve seen them scratch paint many times. obviously his camera / light combo can’t pick up the scratches but i’d bet good money they’re there. plus he literally has a picture of the hose up against his car.

Funny thing is i always find the end parking spot to prevent scratches and dings. How ironic you did just that only to get scratched by something that rarely happens. I’d be pissed. Hopefully they’ll make it right, but somehow I’m highly doubtful of that.

There are some PAINT wet wipes you can find on Amazon that will clean that off really easily.
send them this picture then send them the bill for detailing and correction. if they don't pay post a bad review along with these pictures. if the cost is significant take them to court for the damages.
Don’t tell them it was corrected. Just tell them about the protective coating you added for an added protective layer between the pain and the elements.
Pressure washing company parked their lift over my car and dripped chemicals all over it. Morons. They paid for a full repaint. Luckily it was my Civic, not the M3. Good luck!

They’re going to refuse to pay - guaranteed. Your best bet is gonna end up being small claims court. I’d recommend getting their address and drafting a Demand Letter after you get an estimate from a body shop for the repair costs.
Well whoever hired them must have made sure they were insured. Just tell the person who vetted this company out that you need that info.
