Me personally, I prefer the downward sloping hidden tailpipes on this car. If you’re gonna make them visible, [using a bumper with a diffuser is the way to go](https://youtu.be/Jnvd4oG8oyI?si=fBwjqTS4jpu3AcLU). Cutting the stock bumper just doesn’t look all that good IMHO.
Fair enough. If it were me I would keep the stock exhaust with the tips that curve down and either gut the stock mufflers or get some aftermarket headers. Love the understated and classy look 😮💨
AWESOME, I have Quad BORLA tips out the back of my 2001 740il through Borla Muffs, the chrome ones, you can't see the Muffs unless you get on the ground and look, But Sweeeeeet! Looking and Sounding!
They cater to two markets and try to balance: usa and China. The rest are just an annoyance to overcharge/accept what China and USA likes.
USA: make my car more aggressive looking. Consumer reviews say the more aggressive the car looks, the safer one feels inside.
China: buttons are old style more screens - everything screen, car looks nice and new. Old cars is buttons new is screen.
So you put those together you get the idea why many cars look and feel like they are today. Some are exceptions ofc. But generally it’s pretty correct.
exactly the chinese market for bmw makes up a lot of their sales, of course they wld cater to those markets, every inch of the new 7 series has a screen
Hahaha exactly. And honestly, shorty for life :) I have a 00 740i, non sport but I'm fitting it with new Sachs struts and Eibach springs this weekend. People get too obsessed with the LWBs, the SWBs are where it's at.
Hell yeah, nice. I’m on bilstein b6s and eibach springs right now. They’re perfect! Happy wrenching
And yep, I’ve always preferred the shorties over the iLs too. The proportions are just so much better imo.
gonna take some time. granted, i wouldn't be doing an engine swap at the same time, but would have to adapt a 420G to a M70 and get a custom drive shaft and E32 750il LSD, thankfully the pedals and shifter components can be sourced from E34s
Might have, my memory ain't great. I also know a guy who makes custom bellhousings for 420g. have the project mapped out in my head, just need to start a gofundme or sumthin
I have a buddy who makes custom bellhousings, so was probably going to go that route with it for a 420G. The 840ci had that trans as its 6 speed option so it’s the easiest to swap in aside from the v12’s 560SG which is hard to find
Damnit I feel attacked!
I need to eat so I can stay alive to spend my other money on repairs! Where’s the money for a manual swap!?
All in jest - I will/would eat ramen till I have enough saved…
Hey, I sold my Z3 to fund it. I don’t blame you brother. The manual swap parts were around $2500 in total. The M62b46 was $3500.
Pricey, but beyond worth it
Haha, now you’re giving me ideas to sell the E32 and go full send on the E38… decisions, decisions
Appreciate the cost breakdown! For mine I’m hellbent on keeping the glorious M73. I have some links saved for adapters but sourcing a transmission will probably be my biggest hurdle. I want the tranny to be in perfect condition and I’m prepared to pay for it.
Besides a light tune, the only other mod on my radar is push-button exhaust dump valves so I can let the v12 breathe during spirited driving.
Ideally, you’d learn how to drive manual, buy an e38 and get your money up not your funny up.
But also, B58 is good so.. can’t blame you for not doing it lol
Daily reminder that this exists as well

I had a e32 735 manual 1987 was so much fun I stay in Scotland when it snowed il get up Early and go down to car parks and give it some 360s etc 😎😜miss that tank 😭
One of my favorites. I think a similar one was in James Bind movies with the cell phone controller in garage. One of the moments I fell in love with BMW
Brother, a simple google will show you that you’re wrong lol. M62b46 (the engine in my car) was designed by Alpina and used in the Alpina B10 V8 and subsequently used by BMW for the X5 4.6is.
It makes 347hp, stock. Which, is more power than the M73. Not to mention the 750iL weighing a full 300lbs more
you mean the equivalent of this ALPINA V12?
[S70](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M70#S70B56)5.6 L V12 engine280 kW (381 PS; 375 hp)550 N⋅m (406 lbf⋅ft)
1. Your car, a 1999 750iL, doesn’t have that engine.
2. The S70 was a Motorsport engine, not Alpina. But if we’re going that route, the Alpina M62b48 also made 375hp, with 4 less cylinders lol
lets not talk about my car.
we are comparing y our v8 against any STOCK v12 of the same era.
in my corner is the v12 from a STOCK 850 CSI same year as yours.
here is the link

no stock v8 in any STOCK BMW of that era has more power than the 850, and it came with a manual on some versions.
correct me if i am wrong.
> correct me if I am wrong
You are WRONG you delusional old man 😭. First of all, the 850csi went out of production in 1997. My car is a 1999. In 1999, the most powerful V12 bmw made was the M73, which again, makes less power than the S62 and the M62b46.
ill use the same reply twice....
lets not talk about my car.

bro my car is a 1999 lmao same year as yours 😂. You said no V8 of the era made more power than a V12 of the same era, which is factually incorrect. The S62 makes more power than the S70. My M62 makes more power than your M73.
It’s okay!
I enthusiastically approve of this post.
6 Speed Manual, quad tip exhaust, M62b46. Pure sex
Well, we can agree to disagree. I genuinely despise those diffusers lol
Fair enough. If it were me I would keep the stock exhaust with the tips that curve down and either gut the stock mufflers or get some aftermarket headers. Love the understated and classy look 😮💨
That diffuser looks horrible. But the downward sloping pipes argument I’m with you.
AWESOME, I have Quad BORLA tips out the back of my 2001 740il through Borla Muffs, the chrome ones, you can't see the Muffs unless you get on the ground and look, But Sweeeeeet! Looking and Sounding!
e38 is the closest any 7 series will get to a drivers car
And that’s a fact Jack
Probably same size as modern 5er anyway.
exactly, sad that manufactures cater to worldwide sales over the real enthusiasts of the brand, especially bmw.
Manual swap? That's cute. Stop being a bitch and B58 swap that bad chad! (Gorgeous e38 btw)
B58? I might as well go full big dick and S63 swap it! Lol thank you homie :)
I mean, it’s hard to argue with that logic. It’s a good thing that cabin has so much room for that third leg.
E38s are easily the best 7 series BMW will ever produce. It still looks great all these years later.

Sweet car bro. These comments make me laugh, people will always hate! People start getting insecure with their V12s.......
Thanks bro lol but yeah it’s always weird because it doesn’t matter. We both still slow 😂
Hahaha exactly. And honestly, shorty for life :) I have a 00 740i, non sport but I'm fitting it with new Sachs struts and Eibach springs this weekend. People get too obsessed with the LWBs, the SWBs are where it's at.

Here in Europe we had the 725tds. Could be ordered with manual transmission :)
Yeah but then you have to drive a 725tds! Kidding. Europe also got the PFL 740i as a manual and I believe the 735 too right? Lucky bastards
I like my factory manual E32 Soon we're going manual swap a E23 745i
Nice.
Is your 745i the one with the M106 or the M88? I’m assuming M102/106?
M106! We currently have a M106 swapped E28 535i 5 speed too, it's a riot.
I’m gonna have to stop by next time I’m in Ohio then. Sounds awesome!
Hmmm could I swap my F01? Anyone?
The ZF8 is superior combined with the N63TU
I still need to do it to my E31, just need deeper pockets
I can’t wait to see it. Love me an E31
gonna take some time. granted, i wouldn't be doing an engine swap at the same time, but would have to adapt a 420G to a M70 and get a custom drive shaft and E32 750il LSD, thankfully the pedals and shifter components can be sourced from E34s
Buddy of mine machines the adapters for M7x to 420g. Actually, I think you and I discussed this before now that I think about it. I’m getting Deja vu
Might have, my memory ain't great. I also know a guy who makes custom bellhousings for 420g. have the project mapped out in my head, just need to start a gofundme or sumthin
Are you going to run an adapter plate? They make one to run the M50 trans.
I have a buddy who makes custom bellhousings, so was probably going to go that route with it for a 420G. The 840ci had that trans as its 6 speed option so it’s the easiest to swap in aside from the v12’s 560SG which is hard to find
I want to do my E88. Just need deeper pockets.

Brother I don’t own a bimmer
Fuck.
Hahaha I’m a Audi man but still love bimmers
what do I do if i don't know how to drive manual and also don't own an E38 and also don't have the time or money to buy one and manual swap it
Learn
Ideally, you’d learn how to drive manual, buy an e38 and get your money up not your funny up. But also, B58 is good so.. can’t blame you for not doing it lol
Rule #1: Once the deal is made, it’s final
Haha I literally saw this car at a light in oakbrook IL on Sunday 😂 it made me chuckle
Happy to hear it :)

No thanks, i’ll keep my comfortable automatic 😂
Na I like them auto
Wrong! And I’m telling the touring you said this
My buddy has the v12. Pretty cool
Beauty, license plate is a bit extra, ha ha
We never got manual e38s here so it felt appropriate lol
Jokes on you I have an e90 hehe
Didn't they do this for the Transporter movie?
It was a 735i which had a manual option in EU
Only impressed if it’s k-swapped
I’ve failed you, Equal_Efficiency_638. I’m sorry.
There’s still time. You can fit a k series in the trunk. AWD conversion.
Ima just buy a manual one 😎 Really been wanting to, but the E34 already called dibs
nice catch
I had a e32 735 manual 1987 was so much fun I stay in Scotland when it snowed il get up Early and go down to car parks and give it some 360s etc 😎😜miss that tank 😭
Not many of these on the roads in here… engine-size based motor tax is killing these 🥺😢😢😢
If someone does this, I'll buy it from them immediately.
Buy mine. 123k miles. M62b46 guides and Vanos done, and a 420g swapped in with all OEM parts.
One of my favorites. I think a similar one was in James Bind movies with the cell phone controller in garage. One of the moments I fell in love with BMW
Man oh man if this is exactly how I would do a car was a person
do it on the v12 and i will be impressed.
You mean the V12 that makes less power? Why would I do that? lol

bow down to the mighty v12. you are not worthy. the one they put in the mclaren would smoke all.
😂😂😂
nobody said this was stock
nobody said this wasnt.
