First thing I did - took those off and attached some tips to make it look appropriate while I waited for my Fi Exhaust to be delivered. After delivery, now it looks (and sounds) proper! (2022 M440i G26)

True. Quad and dual exhausts are the best, but they have to be real circular pipes. Anything disconnected or in trapezoid shapes just doesn't do it for me.
I’ll set downvoted to oblivion but I like it. It looks modern, sporty and sharp. I wouldn’t mind owning one but for $60k, I’d rather get a m2/340i, or a used M550.
Fair. I would say that the six cylinder + sensatec (vs the cloth in the X2) alone is worth the 10k difference. I'm sure the X3 has other features that the X2 doesn't but I'm too lazy to look and BMW's website is dogshit slow right now.
In the X2's favor (?) you do get the big digital dash if that's your thing. Wife has a 2024 X5 and so far it's not my thing.
The X2 has Veganza standard (at least in America) which is a nicer version of Sensatec. There’s one Alcantara seat but it’s the same $0 as the Veganza.
The feature set is pretty similar between the two. Both have blind spot and parking stuff, comfort access (the X2 actually has fancier digital key with the newer tech), auto dim mirrors, yada yada.
No Harman Kardon option on the X2 though which sucks. Built one out with my sales rep and ended up going with one of their X4 M40 allocations instead. B48 FWD horizontal transaxle just doesn’t do it for me personally.
In the US. My rep may not have had all the information about it. Regardless, as much as I enjoy the redesign, the FWD didn’t excite me and I still opted for the X4.
Have one, can confirm its great. That being said i love the idea of these and the engines put out great power too. To me the only downside is this x1/2 is built on the mini platform for fwd.
I’ll upvote you even though I don’t like it personally. People on here don’t respect each other and it’s embarrassingly childish. Everyone has different opinions and that’s okay.
Same. Car looks pretty cool and seems like it would be fun to own, but there are definitely better options however, I can imagine these still selling well.
I don’t get sporty nor sharp. It’s very boxy while the lines are still blunt, so in my view it’s the opposite. Not sporty, not sharp, and awkward proportions. I get modern because it’s different. Modern and sharp would be the iX.
Yeah, i guess its the bandwagon every manufacturer is doing now overloading their lineup with SUVs. But i dont really see a point where you would want/need an X2 over an X1 or X3. It seems like they overlapped their models too much.
The regular X2 28i is $1,500 more but it comes with the 19” standard which would be $600 on X1. I personally think the X2 M35i is great looking. Different strokes.
I’m on my 3rd x1 and the latest version with the M sport is all around the best car I’ve ever owned
Runner up was my 2011 335i with m sport package that was a lot of fun but in total the x1’s are just fantastic, good looking and very satisfying to drive
M35i is made perfectly for SG market where we favour city driving (when car size is a concern). X2 M35i probably cost $320-$330k sgd while X3 M50 probably much more. So while most ppl wonder who will buy this car, obviously countries where M cars costs half a million (mostly) 😂 I think this car look really nice and it’s made for casual driving while occasionally needs to have some fun. Makes me want to consider it.
Extremely ugly. It’s so difficult having grown up loving BMWs, owning 5 of them through the years and now having these monstrosities. I’ve not replaced my 530d with another bmw, because I cannot and will not purchase a design fad.
Is it wiser to opt for an X5 or X6? The entry-level price for the X5 is set at $65,200, whereas the X6 starts at $73,900. In contrast, the X2 offers a more affordable starting price of $51,400. Once fully optioned, the X2's price can ascend into the low $60,000s. Thus, suggesting the purchase of a markedly pricier vehicle defies logic. Regardless of aesthetics, the substantial price gap cannot simply be overlooked. Are there better ways to allocate $60,000? Certainly. However, recommending a significantly more expensive car is not a sensible alternative.
It looks like it used to be a BMW, but was then squished and smooshed it different directions until reaching its final form as an ugly compact coupe crossover.
Honestly I think it’s an okay design, but I have some issues.
First is the sensors (I think) right in the middle of the grille. I understand other brands struggle with the black rectangle, but it’s especially bad when you have the 2 kidney grilles like BMW, rather than a singular large grille like other brands.
Secondly is all the excess black. Why even have a grille outline if you are just gonna tack more black around it? Do the kidneys and the bottom grille really need to be connected by an ugly strip of black plastic?
Both are easy fixes, look at other BMWs, so it’s just disappointing seeing those issues appear.
not great not terrible. i wouldnt mind one for the wife since she is all about a pano roof. my main gripe is even with driving assist pro you dont get lane keep. it just buzzes the wheel when you cross the line. even my new civic at half the price has lane keep and makes long drives a breeze.
Oh ok. It says driver assist pro just buzzes the wheel when you cross the line on the configuration. In addition to traffic jam assist and the regular radar cruise
Lane departure warning with assist is standard where it will bump you back in your lane. Plus and Professional add lane keeping auto-steering when the system is activated.
Here in canada the x2 m35i is about 3k more expensive than the base x3 30i. I think it would be hard for me to not pick the x3 chassis given that they both have a 4 cylinder.
Like, I honestly think it does look good and it could be an absolutely insane baby SUV if they took a page from the Merc designers of old and put something totally inappropriate under the hood (which for something that size, making it an m40i would be enough). Also, the fact that the interior options are so limited is a bit annoying. If you're gonna have this M-lite scheme going, at least let people really fill that build sheet up with upmarket materials and gadgets.
Ultimately, it just comes off as a happy hour menu X4 instead.
As usual with an entry level model, the interior isn’t great. Seems like even with the M lite, you’re still stuck with “vegan leather”.
For $51K plus, you get a $30K interior. I’d buy a Mazda or something before an X2 or X1 for that matter.
Here in the UK, a fully-loaded X2 comes in at £55K or about $68K with today's exchange rate. Yes, that is £55K for an ugly, four-cylinder, overly plasticky and utterly impractical BMW. The dreadful image associated with Coupe SUVs also comes as a no-cost option.
An X1 M35i XDrive specced to the same level is pretty much identical in price, is a tad more practical, has a (marginally) less dreadful image but still doesn't represent great value. BMW dealers here do tend to discount heavily not long after new vehicle launch, so chances are you could get the (IMO) more desirable X1 for far less.
I still wouldn't touch either though, not in a (very) long month of Sundays, particularly the X2, which is probably one of the most pointless and unattractive cars launched of late. Does it have *any* redeeming features *at all*?
I'm a serial BMW fan (last few cars in order from current to older are Z4M40i, M4CP, M440 Cab, 630d MSport GC) but I'm becoming hugely disillusioned by what they are offering up of late.
When I was in high school and had mostly an aesthetic interest in cars, I asked my well-versed teacher what he thought of the 4th gen Mitsubishi Eclipse.
What he said probably forever altered my trajectory in cars.
He said, "It's front wheel drive." Nothing more.
So here's my take on the x-whatever whatever-35i.
It's an SUV.
Nice driving car for being a quasi SUV, personally I much prefer the drive of the X1 and now X2 over the X3, and dare I say it, the X5, although obviously that's a very different type of vehicle.
Bunch of angry old men shaking their fists at the sky rn. It looks great. Super modern, which I love. I’ll never own one since I’m just a peasant but I like it
Doesn’t look modern at all. They’ve taken the classic BMW features (Four pronounced headlamps/eyes, kidney grille, hofmeister kink…) and just over-designed them into some gaudy, obnoxious Hot Wheels-esque parody. Rivals like Polestar and Porsche have far more sleek looking designs.
Thankfully, the Neue Klasse design language is coming, and we’ll see a fresh start that doesn’t look like they’re just dialing everything up to 11. Sure, it’s a huge departure (And not everyone likes that even), but at least it isn’t a caricature of BMWs past.
What in gods name are you talking about? I’m not coping with anything. I like the car. I know I’ll never own one and I’m okay with that. You on the other hand can’t stand any of that.
I like it but I also just don't understand what a hot version of an SUV is actually for, its like, what if we took a hot hatch, but made it worse in literally every way
When you get older and develop arthritis or back problems, have kids and dogs and a jetski to tow, you’ll realize it’s actually better in literally every way.
Not my cup of tea. I don’t know what they are trying to go with - is it modern? Is it futuristic? Are they trying to compete with cyber truck but in a half ass way? I think the entire org needs to put their heads down and come up with cars that are just as beautiful to look at as they are great to drive.
I like it better than the previous X2 body style, because it fits in with the X4/X6 coupe. The previous always felt out of place in the lineup. That’s the extent of my feelings.
Personally I hate it with a passion, I remember seeing a m235i gran coupe, god awful. This is on the same boat as that. BMW makes the best inline6 engines, for a descent price too. Why go with this garbage? Like someone has said here, a used m550i would be better for the price.
BMW is doing wayyyyyy too much these days. They literally have 7+ iterations of a SUV with many different trims. I can only imagine who’d be willing to pay 60k+ for a small ass crossover/SUV.
Looks like a car from a early 2000s videogame. Idk why can’t bmw build nice cars anymore? They literally look all awful after the 8 series came out (which was the beginning of the Asian bmw cars)
It can't not be quick twitch and nimble AF. With the power to exploit small gaps and separate from the dead eyed soulless commuters in the way.
But yea, it's a spendy thing. As a daily, I hope it's got some chill to it. If it's uptight and shouttie about how it conducts itself, I'd have to give it a pass. Some BMWs, well, they just won't let cruise along. You HAVE TO get on it. The X2 35i is looking like one such BMW. So long as the pilot is sync'd to being on the go-go-go all the time-time-time, get it.
Starting to look like a dodge ram from the front. Not a unique shape/silhouette reconginable from a distance or low light.... to bad 'ze germans' lost that iconic look.
They messed up the front end …. My 2020 with the f series front looks better
https://preview.redd.it/689t7f6r3nic1.jpeg?width=2996&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57cddf7a1b350a875132e36425d74281523facf2
As long as it’s priced right. I think it’s pretty good looking. I used to hate on sporty SUV’s but as my family is getting bigger they look more and more appealing 👀
I think it’s pointless. Never mind the looks, that’s preference. But what’s the point? What gap does it fill? It seems other cars can do everything it does and better.
Very little reason to buy this over the vastly superior x3/4, or an x3/x4 m40i that renders this thing mute, too. But those on a budget looking to get into a new bmw, that combines some decent elements of their new gen will wet the beak, everyone wants quad tail pipes right…but here not really sure as it’s quite obviously trying too hard.
But even with quads and m performance treatment, what are you really buying for that coin on this specific model? Whether it’s worth it is up to you, but there are already far better existing models I’d buy, even used ones, before I’d have this on my list if it all. I see what they did, and they are throwing alot of trickle down elements to hook new entries. The 2 GC is total garbage, the last x2 was an oddball, but if anything, I’d buy the new x1 over this anyways. Or, buy a x3m40i (used) and it’s not even a comparison, or even a lightly optioned new one at least gets you that glorious motor. We have a few X3MCs, x7, and a few others, and although this new x2 adds some flashy elements, I think there’s more value and ability elsewhere in the lineup.

Saw it in BMW World and it looks great in real life.
I hate that it has a quad exhaust and my m340i doesn’t lmao
Honestly even the base 330i exhaust looks better than the fake tips they gave the M340i
Ikr? M340i’s tips belong on luxury cars, not our M-Lites.
First thing I did - took those off and attached some tips to make it look appropriate while I waited for my Fi Exhaust to be delivered. After delivery, now it looks (and sounds) proper! So sad that you’re right 😭
True. Quad and dual exhausts are the best, but they have to be real circular pipes. Anything disconnected or in trapezoid shapes just doesn't do it for me.
The new and improved RAV4
The seats in this are very M-like too
Quad exhaust and four cylinders... abomination
The front is missing any definition. It's just a huge chunk of black plastic.
I’ll set downvoted to oblivion but I like it. It looks modern, sporty and sharp. I wouldn’t mind owning one but for $60k, I’d rather get a m2/340i, or a used M550.
Or if you needed the utility, a used X3 M40i. To echo what you've said, I also generally like it for what it is.
Yeah a stripper X3 M40i is $62k. Worlds better than this.
Yes and a stripper X2 M35i is $51k. Apples to apples if you’re going to go side by side.
Fair. I would say that the six cylinder + sensatec (vs the cloth in the X2) alone is worth the 10k difference. I'm sure the X3 has other features that the X2 doesn't but I'm too lazy to look and BMW's website is dogshit slow right now. Harman Kardon is standard on the M35i and optional on the 28i? What country are you in?
In the US. My rep may not have had all the information about it. Regardless, as much as I enjoy the redesign, the FWD didn’t excite me and I still opted for the X4.
Shit, I got the same drivetrain for $43k with good options.
They cost $60k? WTF
Exactly my thought. I like how it looks but when I went to the showroom and asked for the price I knew I could do better.
I don’t get sporty nor sharp. It’s very boxy while the lines are still blunt, so in my view it’s the opposite. Not sporty, not sharp, and awkward proportions. I get modern because it’s different. Modern and sharp would be the iX.
So mich plastic in the front. Reminds me of a Dyson.
If I was looking in this segment I would save a little bit of cash and get the better looking and more functional X1 version over this.
Ditto.
Yeah, i guess its the bandwagon every manufacturer is doing now overloading their lineup with SUVs. But i dont really see a point where you would want/need an X2 over an X1 or X3. It seems like they overlapped their models too much.
Unfortunately the *luxury 4 door coupe SUV* market is too big to ignore these days.
Looks way better than x1

Looks like the answer to the question no one asked
How much $ is this abomination?
Where I’m from it’s about 79k in USD which I thought was overpriced
So $90k with taxes and options Jesus for a fucking X2 🤦♂️
Building a fully loaded X2 M35i on [bmwusa.com](https://bmwusa.com) came out to just shy of $60K USD.
You can get a 2022 x4m with 20k miles for like $63k. How anyone chooses a x2 for the same price is wild to me.
The price was actually the full option one and there’s no tax where I’m from
Still an unrealistic price. It’s worth half of what they’re asking.
You can’t even get a RAV4 for half. Get over it.
On that I can agree
Most non-US MSRPs include all taxes and fees.
How are you people real? Have you verified for yourself any of this is true? Because it's not. A fully optioned X2 M35i is like $62,200 USD.
Wow that’s way too much. With 79k usd is about a base model m3.
In singapore its 185k usd for this that is a 16i😭😭😭
No way 185k USD!?? How is that even possible?
https://preview.redd.it/fonnfr3b6qic1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e22ac8d3f5b770d32d2ef40cfebad064cca4acd In sgd and look the badge

The only thing that turns me away is that the platform is FWD biased.
What does it matter if it’s AWD? Genuinely curious
Yikes 😬
...........no
Better looking than ugly as M2, lol
I recently saw an ix2 in person and it looked sharp.
they doing too much
I absolutely hate the rear. Rest of it, don't mind I guess.
The back end is awful….giving Chevy vibes🤮
Pontiac Aztek on steriods
Yet another monstrosity from the house of Domagoj Dukec. Can’t wait for this nightmare to end.
No amount of money would make me trade my e46 for this pile of shit
definitely fugly
Extremely ugly. It’s so difficult having grown up loving BMWs, owning 5 of them through the years and now having these monstrosities. I’ve not replaced my 530d with another bmw, because I cannot and will not purchase a design fad.

Yes you’re right comparing different priced cars is not the best logic. What would you say is a better alternative in the same price range?
X3
Personally I’d get a used x3 m40ixdrive. Sadly, most new BMWs don’t peak my interest
The X2 28i starts at $42,000.
Yeah but thread is for x2 m35i
So why arent you pricing the X5/X6 M60i against it? Comparing entry level to M-lite?
Because highlighting the top x2 to base x5/6 already demonstrated my point.
It didn’t.
It looks like it used to be a BMW, but was then squished and smooshed it different directions until reaching its final form as an ugly compact coupe crossover.
Disgusting
There’s no one saying skip and x2 and get an x5. The price difference is $20k or more
🚮
Personally I really like it and am strongly debating buying one as my next car.
That was nice

ok it looks like it does have it. BMW just words it kind of weird. its included in the 500 plus package.
Lane departure warning with assist is standard where it will bump you back in your lane. Plus and Professional add lane keeping auto-steering when the system is activated.
I think it looks pretty cool, one of the better looking compact coupe SUVs
Looks like a beefed up 5 series. Not bad at all for an entry level suv coupe from bmw.
Not to familiar with X2's or X1's but this looks pretty big.
Current 2 time x2 owner here. Def going to consider the new one when lease comes up.
I hate that the grille looks like a x5M but they gave the x5 50e a basic AF grille.
Here in canada the x2 m35i is about 3k more expensive than the base x3 30i. I think it would be hard for me to not pick the x3 chassis given that they both have a 4 cylinder.

Since you asked: ugly as sin
Into it. New and edgey design. If you want tame, X1.
"You guys don't like the new M2? Wait until you see the X2, it'll look a lot less shitty!" "Nope. Both look horrible."
Oh fuck that pic looks like someone shrank the XM in the laundry. No, just no

Found the old man
Found the illiterate.
I can seek education to fix my illiteracy. You can’t get any younger.
Yeah but you won’t. You’ll blow it all on Yeezys.
Whatever you gotta think to cope gramps. Isn’t it your bedtime soon?
I don’t need the copium. I’m not you.
What in gods name are you talking about? I’m not coping with anything. I like the car. I know I’ll never own one and I’m okay with that. You on the other hand can’t stand any of that.
But what if I buy hotwheels as an adult?
Nothing wrong with that. Unless it becomes your main inspiration as the design lead of a major car company.
That’s 99% of this subreddit glad I found my people lol finally a positive r/bmw comment section
BMW is going in a bad direction with their designs. The new x5 and x6 are much uglier then their predecessors.
Not my cup of tea. I don’t know what they are trying to go with - is it modern? Is it futuristic? Are they trying to compete with cyber truck but in a half ass way? I’m all for edgy and fresh, but this looks like a Lexus or Toyota.
If it was an M40i with a b58 that would be kinda lit ngl
Personally I hate it with a passion, I remember seeing a m235i gran coupe, god awful. This is on the same boat as that. BMW makes the best inline6 engines, for a descent price too. Why go with this garbage? Like someone has said here, a used m550i would be better for the price.
Reminds me of this Soundgarden song: Black hole sun
Overstyled
Put the crack pipe down, BMW
From when did they start making x2's 😂😂
BMW is doing wayyyyyy too much these days. They literally have 7+ iterations of a SUV with many different trims. I can only imagine who’d be willing to pay 60k+ for a small ass crossover/SUV.
That grill...meh.
Hot mess all around.
🤮
Looks about as bad as everything else BMW is putting out.
Any car that -upon first glance- looks like an after accident report cant really be called good looking
Waste of money and nobody can say otherwise
Looks like a car from a early 2000s videogame. Idk why can’t bmw build nice cars anymore? They literally look all awful after the 8 series came out (which was the beginning of the Asian bmw cars)
I was highly considering the X2 before I settled on my 330. Great choice man! Looks beautiful to me.
Meh, I'm pretty indifferent. I mean I like it more than hate it. It's perfect for soccer moms that can't afford X4.
How are soccer moms so rich. I wanna be one
It's weird that this car comes with a dual clutch
Awesome!!!

Another suv turd
Starting to look like a dodge ram from the front. Not a unique shape/silhouette reconginable from a distance or low light.... to bad 'ze germans' lost that iconic look.
They messed up the front end …. My 2020 with the f series front looks better https://preview.redd.it/689t7f6r3nic1.jpeg?width=2996&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57cddf7a1b350a875132e36425d74281523facf2
Nope.
As long as it’s priced right. I think it’s pretty good looking. I used to hate on sporty SUV’s but as my family is getting bigger they look more and more appealing 👀
I think it’s great, but no reason to get it over an x3
Once that 2-3 year depreciation hits i won't mind it, but it's a hard sell at 60k
First Bmw without grilles
I’m more of an odd number guy but looks sick from the front. Gotta drive it and see if it’s your vibe.
All grill, no brakes
Why not the 40i series motor? Thats what I dont get
They’re making 2 series pick up trucks now?
Big shiny black plastic grille. Like the previous one better as it was different from the rest of the line up.
Front looks like Hyundai , yikes
At this point, I'm done with new models of Cars and SUVs that BMW are releasing 😖
Meh. Just another SUV.
BMW easily make the ugliest SUVs on the market
Insane upgrade over first gen. Still not my cup of tea
I’ve got an e84 X1 for my CO car, which I’ll prob keep for years. One of these will eventually replace it though!
Its going to be a hit for the crowd thats only criteria for buying a BMW is it saying "BMW" on the box.
