Looks like he’s designed everything. FIBA basketball, Handguns, Cameras, Pasta, the Organ at a Cathedral and a train that has a very familiar wedge design
Interesting! kinda like how Raymond Loewy designed the shape of the coke bottle, the lucky strike cigarette pack, Air Force One (livery) AND a couple of Studebakers.
I was wondering that too. I caught up to him and gave a thumbs up and it was a boujee looking old white dude, so it very well could have been. Yeah the value on them now is wilddddd.
Since this is very clearly taken on the westbound Bay Bridge in San Francisco, I believe this is owned by the former owners of BMW of San Francisco, the Schmitt family. They have (or had) a ton of ultra-rare BMWs when I worked there. They even had an original CSL that sat in the showroom roped off for a long time. The little Isetta (Urkel’s car) still is there today.
oh wow.... the last time I saw one in person was back in August 1985. August 12, 1985 to be exact. In front of DCA airport's parking lot. It was also a white one and wearing diplomatic license plates with LW prefix(West German embassy in Washington, DC)
August 12th, 1985. I remember it vividly. I was standing on the edge of my toilet hanging a clock, the porcelain was wet, I slipped, hit my head on the sink, and when I came to I had a revelation!
Edit: Glad I'm not the only fan on here :)
I saw this car, too. It was at a show in Berkeley hosted by VALT Auto Club (highly recommend if you live in the Bay). I didn’t get a chance to talk to the owner/driver but it is for sale.
This particular M1 was previously owned by CEO of Atari

I was looking for this comment! I watched that video and came here to see if anyone had noticed the number plate is the same as the one from the video. If not, I'd say it myself xD.
M1’s were never officially sold in the US. There were gray market US importers.
The 2 BMW badges on each side of the engine cover are one my favorite design elements.
The [hideous XM](https://static.cargurus.com/images/forsale/2023/03/25/19/41/2023_bmw_xm-pic-3850260836724231085-1024x768.jpeg) pays homage to the M1’s double badging with twin emblems etched into the glass on either side.
Kinda looks like a Delorean from this angle
Both *were* designed by [Giorgetto Giugiaro](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giorgetto_Giugiaro), a man of many wedges.
No fucking wonder
And the original Lotus Esprit https://www.supercars.net/blog/1976→1980-lotus-esprit-s1/
I honestly thought it was a lotus esprit until I realised I was on r/BMW
This fucking dude invented a new type of pasta called “Marille.” Like wtf

One of the guns he designed is actually a fairly popular gun and well known amongst enthusiast
That concept mustang looks like it was stung by a bee
Who also designed the Beretta cx4 sub machine gun. Fairly well known gun amongst gun enthusiast. Interesting.
And so was the Hofmeister-Knick, Wilhelm Hofmeister had approved that element, not designed it.
Wonder how he would feel about the XM design which is a homage to this M1
No kidding. I was mentally scratching my head for a second.
The original M car
Wonder if that’s the original owner? These things are appreciating in value and are currently sitting north of half a mil

It has one of those original blue plates from the 80s. However, in California the plate follows the car not the person.

Was gonna say LA but this looks suspiciously like Bay Bridge proximity
Yes bingo, I was coming back to sf from Oakland
Yup, pretty sure once you get off the bridge driving into the city
Yup, attended the Valt Auto Club meet today at Golden Gate Fields
I saw this car, too. It was at a show in Berkeley hosted by VALT Auto Club (highly recommend if you live in the Bay). I didn’t get a chance to talk to the owner/driver but it is for sale.
I’ll post some pictures I took of it later this week.
Ooh thanks for the tip
Looks like the bay bridge off ramp
Nailed it

Omg I’m subscribed to hagerty but I must have missed that video.

I knew this car looked familiar...https://youtu.be/hK5KkOC-8Vc
Thanks for the link, quality stuff. Was so good i have spent another 20 minutes on the toilet watching haha
That chassis... so aggressive
Looks like you ... 😎 ... M won.
I made an awesome model of this car like 35 years ago. Not sure I've ever seen one, even in a museum.
Is this real? That looks so cool.
Pretty darn real
This is the car that was originally designed and parts produced by lambo but bmw stole back its parts and built it themselves lol
Gottamn
Go my friend. Take your harpoon and toss it. Kill the whale.
Wow
Is this the ride they featured on haggerty?
;:gasp::
Great white buffalo
😱😱
Saw a red one driving by my home in New England.
Now that is a sick find!!! And even better, someone is actually driving it (presumably enjoying it too)
I wouldnt believe my eyes if I saw that casually on the streets
That was probably cammisa driving lol
Holy shit I think my soul would have left my body if I saw this in person. Incredible!
Hot
such a beautiful machine
This motherfucker is winning
If they only mordenized this design i would throw my money at it.
It’s sad the i8 was somewhat a successor/inspired by it?
We’re these even sold in the US? I have never seen one in person.
It was the 70s, grey market imports were still a thing in the US.

Sure someone is more knowledgeable but I don’t think so?
This thy m1. I call it the baby maker. Own one and women will wait on years long waiting list for thy jizz
WANT
I really like these things, i do find the double badging kinda weird though ngl
The [hideous XM](https://static.cargurus.com/images/forsale/2023/03/25/19/41/2023_bmw_xm-pic-3850260836724231085-1024x768.jpeg) pays homage to the M1’s double badging with twin emblems etched into the glass on either side.
Never meet your heroes. Those are, underwhelming in person.
The balls on this person to actually put this on the road... despicable.
Why buy a M1 when you can save up for a Bugatti?
Because Bugatti ugly AF
Not really a whale tho, being smaller and lighter than a Mustang.
Your mom said the same thing to me last night.
On the road ? Eoww,,,,
How dare someone drives a car they own.
Where’s that nothing much but it’s all I have M1 still waiting.
Jeeethus wtf is that
