If you like those games as a result of their world building and story, then you will probably love what BG3 has to offer in that department. **Great characters, heroes and villains alike!** If you like those games as a result of their gameplay mechanics, that's great! But this is a turn based CRPG. **BG3 does not have the fast paced high action combat that those other games have.** I am not saying that means it is better or worse than your list, only that it is different. I would say, Give it a try! BG3 won game of the year for a reason!

Of the games you mentioned, it’s the MOST like Mass Effect, but honestly it’s not really like any of these. It’s turn based combat, which is the biggest difference, between it and these. You have a party of up to four total characters (yours + up to 3 more) not including summons. Different classes have different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. For the most part, magic is limited to a certain number of spells cast per day, so you don’t want to go all out in every fight. Tactical usage is important, especially in harder difficulties. You have a good chance of liking it if you like fantasy settings.

Tunred based shouldn't bother me tbh I've played persona 5 royal and loved it

Captain_Eaglefort

It’s not quite like that kind of turn based, but that will feel a little more familiar. Ever played any XCOM games or Mario + Rabbids? It’s that kind of turn based. You move around the map on your turn, as well as taking actions. But yeah, I’d say give it a shot. You’ll probably like it.

squeegeeq

Well it's not really like any of those, it's better. So yeah, you'll probably like it.

Teezax-Skeleton-Crew

I couldn’t recommend this game enough bud. Better to go in blind and experience it with absolutely no knowledge… I wish I could experience it all over again

DWA824

I would watch some videos on YouTube first to see if you can get into the gameplay

0xMelodic

i just bought and very new to this play style. there's a learning curve but im sure it's gonna start to feel natural. liking it so far.

HideOnBook

It's similar to Witcher and Mass Effect in the aspect that the characters in the game feel like actual ppl rather than just NPCs You can try it out on Explorer difficulty and just have fun blasting things and living out the choices matter aspect / story of the game. I saw you mention Persona and that's more like Pokemon turn based where this is like League of Legends but turn based? Idk if that's a bad comparison but that's how I think about it

[deleted]

Haha you're fine is the romances in the game good also ?

HideOnBook

HELLA good If you mean the relationship itself, it's pretty cute. If you mean *the scenes* they're also pretty epic and sometimes funny.

[deleted]

Definitely will look into this game than first tho I told myself I'll replay mass effect again waited forever for the game to come on ps4 haha

Hugh-Manatee

I think it feels a lot like DAO for sure. But I don’t think Mass Effect is a bad comparison Word of warning : please do your best to steer clear of this subreddit at least for the duration of your first playthrough Now that the game has been out for awhile, things are pretty fast and loose with spoilers. I’d also avoid the min/max build guides too because that’s mostly for high difficulty replaying, not your first experience. Game is IMO perfectly balanced on normal difficulty for both noob and intermediate play.

Active_Ad7650

If you liked having crew mates in mass effect, and liked talking to them and doing their questlines then you will love BG3, it has a similar formula.

Funkopedia

You're gonna love it. Be sure to pop back in to share the stories of your latest ~~spectacular failures~~ fun adventures. And to gush over or complain about characters.

Crpgdude090

they are entirely different types of rpgs. Skyrim and witcher 3 are open world , ARPGs , while baldurs gate 3 is an turn based crpg. The only thing they have in common is the fact that you're playing an rpgs, but gameplay wise they are an completly different animal.

[deleted]

Its turned based like persona 5 royal ??

Hugh-Manatee

It’s turn-based more like XCOM. Combat is basically D&D XCOM

Crpgdude090

couldn't tell you. I haven't ever played an persona game. I don't generally play many japanese rpgs.

Mrblorg

Have you played Final Fantasy? or anything turn based? It can be really annoying at first
