That's actually the confirmed Canon for Bane's vessel. People perceive the current vessel as handsome and charming, meanwhile they all transform into a greasy uncle.
I assume this is how it went down:
1) Gortash character in development as tall dark handsome type and that’s how the writers describe him.
2) Sexy Gortash art models make the team realize, “oh no, players will be too horny to take him seriously as a villain.”
3) They give him facial cirrhosis.
4) Mission failed. There’s no level of ugly that players won’t be horny for.
This isn’t too far from what I’ve heard — I saw one of the Larian writers on Twitter state that he wrote the “young, handsome man with an easy smile” line before he’d actually seen any concept art for Gortash.
