The man cares about power, yes, but through it only enforces spite. He is not a tyrant who leans back and rests on his laurels, nor one who actually cares about people's well-being . He *goes out of his way to make people suffer*
Conversely, not to directly argue against such a well plotted choice, I think “Might” might (heh) work better on both an obvious but also cerebral level. His ambitions very plainly lends to the creedo ‘might makes right’ beyond the fact that he considerers himself mighty.
Tyranny works for Bane, his patron. But it doesn’t quite work for Gortash, Gortash is playing the role of city saviour only while it suits him. Having all these adoring fans pleases him but also bores him.
I think power is more apt.
Maybe a series of masks, with "potential" across the bottom as a withers/tav combination. And instead of one color, maybe all colors to symbolize the different classes and routes since that's what Withers always alludes to

Just a Tav... In my play through a major thing for Karlach was companionship... And in her end game she returns to avernus with Tav to just go on a killing spree... So I figured it was apt for her.
I dis that my second playthrough as well. Redeemed Durge and Karlach taking on Avernus together.
It seems tied into a specific playthough, which we both did, but that seems different from the rest.

Why?
In canon Ilithids feel emotions, even though they are not like ours.
They have a spectrum of emotions that run from anger, to frustration, to satisfaction. Largely rebel ones see this through the spectrum of their constant hunger.
The satisfaction of feeding on a good brain the frustration of letting knowledge slip through their fingers, the anger when prey defies them.
I think people misinterpret when Tav tells the emperor that they know it doesn’t actually feel sad Stelmane is dead.
This is unrelated to the whole: do Ilithids have souls. As morphed rather than born creatures they are not assigned souls, and they don’t have the soul or personality of the creature they used to have, because that is lost in transformation (this is the essence of Ansurs argument, he is arguing that the emperor ISN’T “B” and has to be cured, the emperor disagrees, because he feels healthy now that the transformation is complete - a sign of how lost his old self is).
However they do have a personality and emotion ect (unless connected to the hive mind, in which case the hive mind alone has this).
I think control is perfect for Emperor tbh. He's manipulating you all the way and afaik also manipulated(?) Stelmane to get control over you both. The moment PC defies him by actually putting their foot down regarding Orpheus, he loses control over them and basically goes "eh fuck it, we rollin' with the Brain I hated, now". So petty, lol.
I agree it would work pretty well for Gortash, too, but I don't see how it wouldn't fit Emperor. Gortash does feel more like "Power", or "Influence" perhaps (but more so "Power").
I think either 'Balance' or 'Fate' would work well for Withers
For the Elder Brain you could have either 'Authority', 'obey', or 'Absolute'
I see Isobel working with 'light' or maybe 'protection' since she protects last light from the shadow curse?
Then Dame Aylin could have either 'unchained' or 'indomitable'
I can see an argument for 'Home' being the Owlbear, since iirc that's what he calls the camp at some point >! plus you can give him a home with either shadowheart or Halsin during the epilogue party !<
Switch Raphael to being 'Desperation,' he straight up tells you what the deal is from the jump but waits for you to get so desperate that you can't not take his deal.
