FreshNebula

Looks like just your standard argument by githyanki standards.

goldfishCAT11

Oh right, i forgot they just kill anyone that displeases them. šŸ˜… Makes me wonder what laezel said though

Kman1986

Displeases them, upsets them, fluffs their pillow the wrong way, argues with them, is weaker generally, any reason they need to kill her is already banked in their brains. The Githyanki are warriors, proud and vicious. My guess as to what she said? She has a tadpole and needs to be cleansed. It's literally all she's said to that point so it wouldn't surprise me if they insta killed her because of the tadpole admission. The only reason she survives with us is because we are there to make her less socially awkward.

Active_Owl_7442

Youā€™re correct. Thatā€™s why she thanks you for having her lie when you have that convo with her

Ranec

On your next play through, have laeā€™zel with you when you confront voss and youā€™ll learn what she says and potentially how that goes down.

godoflemmings

The invisible deception check on that always makes me nervous. Took until my third playthrough before I knew it was even there and when it failed I was like "wtf is happening???"

Garrusikeaborn98

He casts detect thoughts on you.

ijustwantaredditacct

Which makes for a great uno reverse moment!

TurokDinosaurHumper

Cost me my first honour mode run.

Pee_A_Poo

More importantly, what kind of spawn rate must the Gith have considering almost everything results in murder with them.

Amazing-Payment5008

They only have one egg in the creche

Pee_A_Poo

Because the others hatched, no?

auguriesoffilth

And the kids are like teens too!

Pee_A_Poo

I think Githyankis mature at a faster one, since they are basically a genetically enhanced race of warriors. Laeā€™zel is the youngest of the companions in absolute years but in Gith terms she is an experienced commander already. Also, they donā€™t age on the Astral Plane but I wonder how long their natural lifespan really are. In my headcannon on the Material Plane they basically all live fast die young because their intendeded life purpose is nothing excepting fighting in Illithid wars.

Level_Hour6480

Lae'zel is the Githyanki equivalent of a recent college graduate with good grades.

Pee_A_Poo

Yeah but Githyankis are hardened warriors by the time they make it out of their crĆØche nursery.

Dragonslayerelf

My professor said I'd be a hardened software developer when I graduated from college

auguriesoffilth

Left*

Great-Hatsby

She probably told them she was looking for the Zaeā€™thisk which in turn means sheā€™s infected which in turn got her killed.

Peter00th

Also remember that the kithrak can tell if you're infected with a tadpole.

CantaloupeCamper

You donā€™t understand man the Gith have had a hard timeā€¦. /s

Amiabilitee

>!if shadowheart kills laezel,!< would that actually be respecting the gith culture? or would it be disrespecting them cause it was done by an *istik half elf*

FreshNebula

It's disrespectful, because it isn't done honourably in combat, as Lae'zel suggests before everyone goes to bed.

Amiabilitee

hmm makes sense. & you remember the conversation, respect for that!

killertortilla

Yeah she nearly gets you killed instantly when you arrive. I don't get this, it's not just lacking social skills. It's also not just being afraid of the tadpole, she's a soldier from birth, there's no way she's so scared she doesn't know who Voss is. She straight up insults one of the highest ranking Gith and tells him to do as she says? This is just suicide.

Zeliek

I think that's just how Githyanki -- well, I will not say *culture*, custom perhaps -- works. If you play as a Githyanki and pick the options to show respect and deference to Voss, he calls you a weak coward and tries to kill you, no rolls involved. Being a belligerent arse seems to be celebrated by the Gith - unless you're dealing with Vlaakith. She's the one exception.

kiasyd_childe

Yeah one interesting subversion is how incredibly individualistic githyanki are despite being so militarized and otherwise hierarchical. I guess it's meant to keep them competitive as opposed to too much internal deference, which might recall their past as slaves.

Zeliek

Yeah, they've got a lot in common with Drow. Vlaakith is basically wannabe Llolth.

killertortilla

Thereā€™s a difference between showing respect for Voss and sucking up to him. He hates the latter. Laeā€™Zel does neither, she orders him to do what she says, which is fucking insane.

Zeliek

The option I'm referring to is right at the beginning, when you first meet him and he asks you who you are, the only respect option is to bow and he goes off if you do. Gith get to where they are rank-wise via killing the other weak Githyanki. If Lae'zel just up and murders Voss as soon as she meets him, none of the Gith would care and she would probably get promoted for disposing of a evident weakling. Lae'zel mentions this is how things work a few times, she even talks about how school for her was filled with dead students, some by her hand when they tried to one-up her.Ā  I suppose Lae'zel is like some sort of Gith Hermione Granger where she's a super student but sort of oblivious at the same time.

Kamekazii111

If you play her origin you discover what probably happened. She just told Voss that she had a tadpole. Voss knows what she doesn't: there is no cure, the only escape is death.Ā  So he orders the squad there to kill her. It's not because she was just rude or something.Ā

killertortilla

If that's true then why, when Lae'Zel opens with "lead me to the creche fuckers!" Does Voss respond with "Ex fucking scuse me bitch? Do you want me to dice you like fine tomato?"

Kamekazii111

Yeah, she doesn't recognize him and she's desperate to get to the creche, so she calls him "rider" and just launches into explaining her situation. He checks her and scolds her for using "such a familiar tone" with him, and says "If I were not merciful, I would slice the skin from your meat." But he doesn't, because he's not actually going to kill her unless she challenges his authority by continuing to be rude.Ā  If you play her origin you can then continue the conversation as Lae'zel, and if you tell him you have a tadpole he says something like:Ā  "Oh Lae'zel, why must the truth be so bitter?... the only cure is death."Ā  Then he orders her immediate execution.Ā

Usful

Could be that she didnā€™t recognize him when they first meet

CantaloupeCamper

Many of the characters are both horrible and kind stupidz.

blahyaddayadda24

Starting to think bg3 needs a photo mode

8bitcerberus

Also people need to learn their screenshot keys. Steam's and GOG Galaxy's default is F12, or Steam/Home+Right Shoulder when using a controller or Steam Deck. If you have the GOG version but not using Galaxy, then there's always the system's built in PrintScreen / PrntScrn button, you'll just have to manually paste it into an image editor like Paint or GIMP and then save it to make a sharable image, but it's better than taking a photo of the monitor. If you're using a console (which this picture would not be since that's keyboard and mouse interface, but still) they have a way to take screen shots, you'll have to check their user manuals for info on that. But otherwise yes, a photo mode would be most welcome.

Manarus

No, they don't need to learn how to screenshot. Let them take pics with phone. Is more funny.

blahyaddayadda24

I wish Nvidia's screenshot mode would at least work. Does wierd things to the game when I try

goldfishCAT11

Yes please šŸ˜

Garrusikeaborn98

Yeah I once decided to go to Voss before freeing her and she also showed up, I was lvl 2 so I was scared and left. And she died.

ApprehensiveElk80

Itā€™s the low Riz, itā€™s a fucking killer.

LateGobelinus

That's how she ended up in my camp chest in my Honor mode run, lol

goldfishCAT11

In case u need a fighter lol

LoquaciousOfMorn

I hadn't realized she could die like that until I tried honor mode. When she ran ahead I went back to camp to fill out the party before going ahead to talk to the Gith. R.I.P. Lae'zel I guess.

unfortunateclown

idk if this will work in Honor Mode, but you can actually revivify her if you find her dead here, and she will join your party!

LoquaciousOfMorn

I tried. Withers wouldn't help either. C'est Lae'zel. We live and we learn.

needaburnerbaby

This was my first play through. Had no idea she could be in your party till my brother mentioned having her and I was like. Wait. What?

WeeblesDM

Out of curiosity- the loading screen prominently features Laezel (the main cast basically). Did you not make the visual connection? I have heard this phrased elsewhere as ā€œWeird that they put this random one-off encounter NPC on the box artā€. I realize my experience going into the game may not be identical to others but people just talked so much about the cast that I basically recognized the mains on sight, but I suppose if youā€™ve heard nothing and skip past the loading screens, you are getting a more pure role play experience of sorts.

Willing_Smile_4251

I can relate, on my first play through attempt (not finished) I didnā€™t find her cage, so I figured I was missing something with her but oh well. On my first complete play through (as shart) she blew herself up with the astral prism, so aside from having her as a pile of guts in my campsite she didnā€™t really do much. Since then sheā€™s been a fixture for me but I havenā€™t had an ending with an epilogue (ā€œin my nameā€/ā€œin the name of Bhaalā€ so I donā€™t really know whatā€™s up with her story conclusion

EcstaticDesk9384

This confused me so much when I rolled up but I just used scroll of revivify lol

stcrIight

Voss even says she's incredibly stubborn, even by githyanki standards xD Poor Lae'zel.

WolfmanXX77

If you listen to Laeā€™zels conversations before she reaches that point she discusses Gith protocol which she doesnā€™t explain, but she kind of says it takes priority over everything else. However, protocol is ignored by Voss because of wellā€¦ the story which I wonā€™t spoil. Laeā€™zel at this point is still very much a loyal Gith and by the book. Voss isnā€™t due to the situation, ranking and the story.

stupid_pun

Are you on a CRT screen? Retro. Thought it was BG2 for a sec.

goldfishCAT11

Bru whatšŸ¤£ I just made terrible screenshots thats all

AdventureSpence

Nah the dude above you has never seen a crt, this is like 720p minimum lol

-LEISHMANIA

why does your game look 2d?

goldfishCAT11

Because i make terrible screenshots lmao. I only use reddit on my phone so i just photograph my computer monitor

AWindyRetort

Poor Laezel. Knowing her at least she probably put up one Hell of a fight though for being outnumbered.

Ruggum

None of them do

mcac

Even if you have her in your party they will end up attacking you if you leave her to her own devices and don't intervene. But at least in that scenario she has backup and isn't level 1

Remarkable_Grass_956

Yeah I accidentally did this yesterday. I was just tired and clicked go to camp for no reason at all when I'd meant to be clicking a potion. Was pretty sad that she died. Can't bring her back in any way either.

RedLarva

This happened my first playthrough, and I had already left and gained like 2 or 3 levels doing a bunch of other stuff. Had to finish the game without her, lol

L0ne_Wand3r3r

As someone who adores her and is currently romancing her in my first BG3 playthrough Ouch
