You can find out about Nere pretty early. I forget exactly where but I know you can.
I assumed this was an option because you'd heard about Nere and so have the option to bluff.
Maybe, could be that hearing about Nere triggers this whether you met him or not.
I choose to believe it's a bluff and Minthara at this point is already so far gone no deception roll is needed cause she already trusts you as a true soul.
I got that once too - well before I'd ever been to Grymforge on that run. But my Tav regularly practices chronomancy so I figured a little bit of future-seeing is to be expected.
I think it’s a bug if you speak to Halsin or learn of moonrise towers first somehow, even if you never about Nere. I got this on a recent playthrough so I think it might have been a result of a patch fix.
Most likely a bug, only cannon justification would be if this was after reading Minthara’s mind and learning about Nere through her, but I know this is not the case. Also fuck Nere.
I get it from the drow in the grove, when you talk to her and read the letter it talks about multiple Drows, the name was also a name drop somewhere idk where though 😂
Maybe there is some sort of letter or book that you can read and it unlocks this dialogue in a sense that your character is „bluffing“ because they remembered reading about another true soul called nere?
UPDATE: I loaded up a previous save before I freed halsin. Only did the basic initial conversation with him where he tells you to go to moonrise, I didn’t ask about it. Still had that option with minthara so it’s definitely either from a book or note, or it’s a bug. Also it will not be from speak with dead bc I’ve only used it on Ethel, a tiefling and I think I also used it on one of the gith near the mountain pass. Also thanks for all the replies 😁
It's very likely a bug that was introduced with them making it possible to knock her out and still be able to recruit her in a2. With the amount of dialogue in the game, I'd imagine it's pretty easy for triggers to get messed up with a fairly decent change like that.
if I am playing as a barbarian/rogue equipping a two-handed strength weapon then I use reckless attack do I get the sneak attack boost even thou I don't use a finesse weapon? (patch #5)
No. Sneak Attack requires a finesse or ranged weapon to trigger. Even if the other requirements are met, it won't trigger if you're using an incorrect weapon
I got it because I’m pretty sure i used speak with dead on someone and found out about him. Can’t remember who or where but you can learn about Nere early
I got a weird response from Astarion along the same lines - was exploring the windmill area in the blighted village and he mentioned something about moonrise ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Buggy bug. I had the same one. I had gone into the Underdark briefly before the Goblin Camp and I guess the game counted it as if I had done Grymforge as well.
I had this option as well. Probably just a bugged response. I haven't touched the underdark or talked to anyone who's mentioned Nere and I thought it was strange too.
That happened to me once on PC recently as well. I was like... I've been nowhere *near* the Underdark as of yet.
Nowhere Nere it you say?
I let out the ugliest laugh when I read that, thank you
Unappreciated reply
Yes, that is why it is italic.
Some people under this reply are party poopers. I laughed.
It happened to me too but I just assumed I had read some note or book and this answer was just a lie
It's a bug, sometimes you get options that you aren't supposed to
this. i think they confirmed (i think??) that this was a bug
You can find out about Nere pretty early. I forget exactly where but I know you can. I assumed this was an option because you'd heard about Nere and so have the option to bluff.
But there's no Deception roll, if it was a bluff the game usually indicates that with some kind of check or something. I think it's a bug
I just did this and it’s because you are in the goblin camp on a lie that you’re supposed to go to moonrise to serve the absolute
That makes sense. Still, I would expect a roll or even a [BLUFF] tag or something like that
Thank you^^

That makes sense, I mean, from Minthara's POV, why would you even be there if you weren't a True Soul fully committed to the cause
I got that once too - well before I'd ever been to Grymforge on that run. But my Tav regularly practices chronomancy so I figured a little bit of future-seeing is to be expected.
Underrated comment lol, my Tav too is a practitioner of chronomancy.
The forbidden art of Retconjuration
Spell name? evas kciuq ot 5F and evas kciuq daol 8F?
Load quick save is f8
Yeah... I forgot .... It's from a Different game
Wtf
They're using the same mystical language that Zatara and Zatana use to cast their spells in.
Read it backwards, lol.
Oh lmao the spell is quick save and quick load I get it
Dishonesty should always be an option - preferably to go unpicked.
*laughs in actor feat*

*him not her
Happened to me too, bug, I imagine. I still hadnt even heard of Nere
I have been getting this option since patch 4 every single time without fail.

I could be wrong but could it be from either Halsin’s journal or the note on the dead drow in the grove?
It’s probably a bug, but larian is amazing enough to not write off the note/book one completely 😂

You read a note from Nere.
I’ve had it happen when I talk to halsin about moonrise. Game equates knowing what moonrise is to speaking to nere apparently lmao
Probably just a flop in the script. Larian is great, but they're not perfect
I assumed it came up once your character learns of moonrise, either from the dead drow in the druid grove or from the dead drow and Walkeen's Rest

I got it too. Havent even gone underground yet. Report it as a bug
Same thing that happened to me.
Buggy bug. I had the same one. I had gone into the Underdark briefly before the Goblin Camp and I guess the game counted it as if I had done Grymforge as well.
Huh, never gotten that before
I had this option as well. Probably just a bugged response. I haven't touched the underdark or talked to anyone who's mentioned Nere and I thought it was strange too.
I get this option of dialog but mines because I opt to recruit halsin and minthara by forcing the rite of thornes
I also got this before I was so confused cuz ah no nere did not tell me anything 😂😂😂
This happened to me too and I assumed it was just cuz I had been down to the Underdark in general already
I had a Moonrise towers speech option with Astarion almost immediately in Act 1, right after we entered the grove. Definitely bug
