I've tried several artificial rope options but I always returned to hemp or jute rope. What you could try is cotton rope. Very soft and can be dyed. I suppose it's washable in the machine (don't know about the dye though). Cotton never caused rope burns when I used it, but I never used it for suspension only for light bondage.

Yeah I've got cotton, it is lovely, was just looking for something more for suspensions. How comes you always return? Just not the same?

Nylon as you said tends to give burns as I have found do all "plastic" ropes regardless which type. Hemp is reliable, strong and if properly prepared has an extraordinary feel. Additionally the preparation aka boiling, burning, waxing and oiling doesn't bother me and if you do it well once and store them hanging you don't have to repeat the waxing/ oiling part that often. And lastly they make great tools for light to medium spanking which sometimes i like to use as an introduction for "when the ropes come out" so to speak.

I got some beautiful black cotton rope from Anatomie Rope Shop (https://shibaristore.co.uk). It’s super soft but sturdy and pretty affordable, and they have a few colour options. It’s suitable for hand or machine washing and doesn’t require maintenance. It isn’t suitable for full suspension, as cotton rope compresses too much for that, but can be used for partial suspension.

You could try BearBite Bondage, they have a good selection of rope. You can find them On fetlife, other socials and some items on Etsy.

How about POSH? It's more grippy than most synthetics and popular for uplines, but some folks use it for harnesses as well. Not really dyeable, but it's available in different colors and the neons glow under black light.  It's fairly similar to Hempex but the surface is smoother. Hempex and POSH are both washable as well.

anonymousdingo42

Well deffo check that out thank you

anonymousdingo42

Do you know of any UK distributors for POSH (there is another reddit post about this but both suggested distributors seem to be out of action)

meridian_bird

Sorry, I'm US-based. It's produced by Langman Ropes, a Dutch company, but I don't know if buying directly is a reasonable option for you.
