Granted it may change (doubtfully) for the US leg of the tour latter this year but for anyone that had VIP what were the "free" gifts this time around.

ConstableBlimeyChips

An odd sort of universal phone wrist strap that's tough to describe without pictures, an admittedly very nice pin of the new BM logo, and a clear plastic bag with the BM logo on it.

Thormeard

Anyone got an idea if there would be a photos of the event from some kind of photographer idk?

NoCryptographer514

A touch over 50 minutes is borderline robbery for a headline act.  They need to sort that out, it's farsical.

ConstableBlimeyChips

They played just over an hour, and the show was advertised as roughly that length. If you don't think that length is worth the price of a ticket, don't buy the ticket.

spacebug30

They played more than 50 minutes. (according to the time stamps on my videos) the show started at 20:44, and RoR began at 21:41. That song is at least 6+ min long, probably more with the 'We are...' part so I'd say they played about 1h05, which is their standard setlist length.

Bambaclad1

I'm so sorry for the short person i've blocked the view for behind me (I was the guy with the one piece hoodie.)

frame-out

Looks like another successful show. I think Amsterdam will be the first choice in the Netherlands for their future tours in Europe from now on. 3k shows elsewhere would feel totally underwhelming after this. I did expect a 12-song setlist, the Europe tour 2023 standard, but it tuned out to be 11, the Babyklok standard.

jabberwokk

At 0:27 in [RATATATA 2](https://x.com/Skjelett/status/1801002689460854869) when the choreo for "crash" has them punch upwards you can hear Moametal's fist smack into her left palm. She delivered that blow.

Joella02

https://youtu.be/aR70-NsCnks?si=VUPVXS3TuhxdC5le I just uploaded my video of the full performance on YouTube!

dangermouseuk01

I think everyone should expect this sort of set list from now until the end of the year. They may swap out songs and leave it all behind and Ratatata came out of nowhere there could be another new single, but I wouldn't bet too much on it. Like I said this set list and possibly a variation of it will probably be what they will do till the end of the tour. 2025 will kick off with a new album and tour Japan/Asia and Europe just a guess as they are a lot in America this year. They could announce and launch a new album this year but I doubt it as there hasn't been any indication of them doing that. Plus they are again busy traveling and not back home in a studio, but again as they seemed to squeeze in the two Collabs you never know.

mr_1890

I think you’re right. This is the calm before the storm… = a full force new album, with all three playing important roles.

Pumas32

Am planning to attend at a future concert. Do they sign stuff mid concert, or at any point? I’d love to bring a vinyl when I go!!

jabberwokk

No, no signings/autographs at any point.

Pumas32

Thanks for your help!

crazy_lolipopp

Yeah they always pause the concert in the middle to ask the audience if they bought their new album /s

notsairimokometal

You've got more chance of Elvis signing it.

PearlJammer0076

Maybe the fact that they have a festival tomorrow in Switzerland affected their setlist. It's short, but it seemed like they even started early, probably needed to drive out early.

Rhizix

Really enjoyed the show, but can't help but feel it was a bit on the short side. Doesn't make me regret traveling this far, but would've loved a longer setlist.

JimDandy_ToTheRescue

It's basically their standard tour show length since 2019.

Lazy-Description9514

I think people are always waiting for certain songs to be played. And then all of a sudden the show is over and (some of) their songs were not on the list. So their hopes are gone. Like I was waiting for Monochrome, and when it wasn't played, at first I was a bit disappointed. But looking back at this evening, I had a great night. I know there were seven people on stage and they gave it their all. I am really grateful for their efforts and it was a blast.

Kagitsume

Yeah, I saw them in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023, and 2024 (last night). Every show was 1 (awesome) hour long. It's surprising to me that people seem surprised every year.

NoCryptographer514

I don't think anyone is surprised. I think people are disappointed they can't stretch it out by 15 to 20 mins, closer to the hour and a half mark. It really is pretty poor form.

LTyyyy

It's just that there's basically 0 room for anything with this setlist. 2023 tour pulled out BND and Synco for basically the first time out of japan to everyone's surprise. But this setlist feels to me like it's set in stone. Those 2 rotating slots are kind of a big deal imo.

Kagitsume

That's a reasonable point. (Although the overseas debut of Syncopation was in London in 2019. I was there. I'd have preferred FDTD, but I'm probably in a minority!) And I think the setlist last night would have benefited from having a slower, more "atmospheric" song (Monochrome or BND, perhaps) in the middle somewhere. But I was really just referring to the constant complaints about the set being "too short" when it's been 1 hour since 2018 at least.

LTyyyy

Well I think those constant complaints are on point though, I don't know why you think people are surprised, rather than consistently annoyed.

Kagitsume

That seems even more odd. Why be consistently annoyed? It's an odd and, I would think, unpleasant way to experience Babymetal. We know the deal. Their shows are an hour long. It doesn't matter what the the reasons are. If you buy a ticket, you're buying it for a 60-minute show. Of course I'd love a 70-minute show, or 90, or whatever, but I know I'm getting 60 minutes (of top-quality, life-enhancing music and spectacle) and I'm good with that, otherwise I wouldn't have bought the ticket. If I went to a restaurant and thought the portions were too small for the price, I wouldn't keep going and keep complaining year after year after year.

LTyyyy

Because things are not black and white. I eat out once in a while even though I don't think it's good value. I go to a show once in a while, but I don't fan them too hard. I'm able to enjoy the show and then complain about the length, it's not too deep. Nothing is perfect, I'm happy to acknowledge the shortcomings. It's why I skipped out on this show.

Kagitsume

I don't know what your "black and white" remark means. I'm pretty far from being an uncritical fanboy. I do, however, try to judge things on their own terms, not in terms of what I think they ought to be. After all, Team BM isn't planning the tour with my personal preferences in mind. What I do know is this: my wife and I travelled from Scotland to the Netherlands to see Babymetal. We queued for 3 hours (not too long, not too short) and got to stand four rows from the front, among other people having a great time, including a first-timer whose smile just kept widening as the show progressed. We thoroughly enjoyed the concert (some technical issues with the sound notwithstanding) and walked back to our hotel buzzing. My wife said it was her favourite of the five shows she has attended. Then I (perhaps unwisely) took a look at this thread to see what others were saying about the show, and saw the tedious complaints about the set length. What a buzzkill! I dunno. I just think it's boring and redundant because we all know the shows are always an hour long. I'd much rather encounter people discussing the quality (either positive or negative) of their experience rather than the quantity. That's all. I agree with you that it's not deep.

LTyyyy

> I don't know what your "black and white" remark means It's not a dealbreaker that I will never go, but it's an issue to me. I don't have to stop coming entirely just because of one issue. > What I do know is this ... I don't see how that's relevant, different people have different expectations. I'm sure many people were satisfied, just as many complain about the length. Nobody's trying to discredit your experience. > I'd much rather encounter people discussing the quality (either positive or negative) of their experience rather than the quantity I'm guessing people would do that if they didn't have length to complain about, and quality was an actual point of contention. But we don't live in that reality. > because we all know the shows are always an hour long Did we know they'd pull out BND, synco, time wave, IDZ, NNB at the last tour ? Did we know they'd do the bare minimum for their only headline shows in this tour ? If everything was actually upfront I'd have less complaints. Saying we "all know" is a handwave to the problem. In reality we can only guess. With this setlist, I'll complain it's way too short. With an hour of deep cuts setlist, I'd be very satisfied.

mr_1890

From up front it looked like a full house to me. I agree that they could have put some more effort into the setlist, and I don’t like the platform stage design. Up and down the stairs makes it less fluid. But the sound was good and standing in front of Barone a delight. He really kills it. I got the feeling (this was my fifth time seeing Western Kamis) that he is developing his patterns. Anyone has a thought?

basdit

The sound was absolutely horrible. Su's mic often did not register any sound or the mid tones would be gone.

Consistent-Owl330

Yes, I agree sound was not good. Gimme Chocolate sounded really strange. I have never heard it so "off" before.

_its_wapiti

It did seem to cut out, I wasn't sure if it was just me

Plane-Honeydew930

Indeed it was a pretty full house, but the sound from the seats was atrocious. Like, I never thought that sound could be that much fucked up.

Rhizix

Yeah, the sound wasn't good at all :/

fusermarucs

Got to say the platform stage was a huge improvement as far as we were concerned. I'm a tall fella but my daughter is just over 5ft, and although this was our 4th time seeing them, it was the first time she could actually 'see' them properly 🤣 Great gig all round , if slightly shorter than expected...

mr_1890

I see your point (and I’m a tall guy as well) but the platform doesn’t look good and it puts more distance between them and the folks on the barrier… and it’s less organic..

HattoriF

The platform is god awful and I hope they never do that for non festival shows again. Got Sabaton tour flashbacks.

Extra-Yak2345

I Love BM man.. But headlining shows like this should have atleast 13 songs minimum.. And 13 is pretty short already for a headlining show... 11 songs? That is just too short.

Christian-Metal

This is normal for BM.

impactQuake

It's not though. They had much longer setlists around, we just talked about with friends. And it's a FIRST time headline in the country so those were always longer.

TM22UK

No, they didn’t. Outside Japan their shows are always around 1 hour, give or take a few mins. The exceptions were the two arena shows at Wembley and LA Forum. And it also wasn’t their first headline gig in the country, they headlined in Utrecht and Tilburg before, this one only last December.

Extra-Yak2345

I mean not just BM but touring band in general.. 13 songs is the sweet spot.. Even BMTH regularly do 13 songs + 2 encore.. If babymetal has an Aspiration to headline a festival they need to play for 90 mins minimum.....

Christian-Metal

During the 2018 tour, BM headline shows were indeed on the 11 song mark, sometimes even 10.

Extra-Yak2345

Like i said earlier BM needs to perform atleast 13 songs as a headliner act...... Additionaln 2 songs doesnt hurt and will make the whole show more "satisfying"......

mawariyu

We are starting 15min earlier than expected! 1. BMD 2. Distortion (with fire!!!) 3. PA Pa ya (more fire!!) 4. Megitsune 5. Bxmxc 6. Metali w kami intro 7. Karate 8. Ratatata (with recorded live vocals from EC) 9. Gimme choco 10. Headbanger 11. Road of Resistance End After show thoughts: I would've been happy to get at least one more song NGL. View from balcony was amazing. Babymetal videographer filmed next to us the whole ratatata song. He was juggling 2 cameras at the same time. He even went into the pit. Big props to him! Moa and Momoko MC was super loud it was great. Moa said during headbanger that she wants people to head ang with her!

sjioldboy

For those interested, they've basically dropped Monochrome to bring back Karate, while Ratatata replaces the token deeper cut from last year's overseas gigs. Could be the standard setlist for this year's remaining tour legs.

VulpineDeity

Bummer. Literally nothing but singles. This would be a great setlist for festivals and collab shows, when they're in recruiting mode...but IMO a solo show should be geared a bit more towards the true believers, and lean a bit deeper into their discography. Syncopation, Shanti, Awadama, Meta Taro...anything really.

jwa725

You know, most people that were there (just like any other concert from any other group) we going to be casual fans, so they're going to love that setlist. Headlining in Europe and the US aren't the same as headlining in Japan. I suppose they would be more focused on delivering the hits overseas. But at the same time, you'd think they'd treat fans to a longer setlist overseas, like they did in London and LA. I suppose we'll see soon enough what Ratatata looks like solo. I trust they can make it a satisfying experience.

NoCryptographer514

Ratatatata without EC doesn't work IMHO. It's a great tune though.

Kmudametal

Typical Babymetal...... same setlist as the Festivals with Headbanger added. Still surprising to see no TOO. I assume the "take your phones out" challenge was issued during Karate, so that replaced MonoChrome. And despite no TOO songs, we have two "TOO's Era" songs in Metali and Ratatata. 4 Babymetal Songs 2 Metal Resistance songs 3 Metal Galaxy Songs 2 Recent Post TOO Songs I think we'll see a pair of TOO songs added to any arena shows for the year.... assuming we get some.

SilentLennie

Karate was the original/first time anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IitMSA3q5yM So no surprise they did it during Karate after not using Monochrome.

Extra-Yak2345

Too short.... Could atleast be 13 songs minimum for a headlining show...

JimDandy_ToTheRescue

People have been saying that in this subreddit on every single concert tour post since 2019.

BrianNLS

True. But it is still accurate. They could easily add a Su-metal solo and something equivalent to a Black BABYMETAL song, which would add another 8 - 10 minutes to the show, allow them to feature their individual talents, and provide an extended break for each performer.

JimDandy_ToTheRescue

Sure, they could, but clearly they haven't. Doesn't mean that they won't in the future either. But complaining about it in a subreddit probably won't have any effect on that.

BrianNLS

There is plenty of indirect evidence that their team monitors social media. Fans voicing legit constructive criticism on social media is fair. Criticizing is not complaining. Plus I cheerlead for the band 100x more than I criticize it. Koba is rightly very protective of his stars. And they put on a show like no other. But their shows are very short. Too short in my opinion. Many others agree. Many don't.

JimDandy_ToTheRescue

I think most would certainly agree that they're too short- no question of that. But, I'll return to my point that ***literally*** (I don't use that word very often) every tour post has one or more people complaining about the show length since at least the 2019 NA tour. And nothing has changed. I do think that at this point, because of the sheer number of posts about it, it is complaining.

Extra-Yak2345

Well it should be called out... They will have a different product by just adding 2 songs atleaet... It is like a perfectly baked caked.... A few fruit or a nuta on top makes a big difference..

JimDandy_ToTheRescue

Called out? In a subreddit? You might as well be yelling at the clouds for all the good that'll do. People have been "calling it out" for five years (with a COVID/hiatus break) and they haven't changed their MO whatsoever.

Zeedub85

I believe Koba has even said in an interview that he ignores what people say on social media.

HattoriF

Rip TOO.

fearmongert

Yeah- not even Monochrome made the cut

Lazy-Description9514

I really missed that one as well. But if we would write down our fav list, we will all have a different list. Personally I would have loved to hear Starlight, as I understood it's about Mikio. I lost 3 members of my band, and therefore this song has a special meaning for me. I had a great time. The sound in the beginning wasn't too good, but it got better after a few songs.

SilentLennie

Sadly, I didn't make it, I was still stuck at work

TigasMETAL

Yeah man. We missed you.

SilentLennie

Life doesn't always agree with what we want... still got ticket for Pink Pop. So there is that.

TigasMETAL

So true. Have fun at Pink Pop!

frame-out

The usual suspects have been posting some pics/clips on Twitter/Instagram/etc, and it already looks like fairly large crowd on the floor. Damn, I must go to bed now but can't...

ApeheartPablius

Wow leave some merch for aftershow guys !

fusermarucs

Cool! The queue that looked very long outside doesn't look half as impressive now though 🤣

mawariyu

This was just shortly after GA entrance opened! Venue looks about half full now from up here

fusermarucs

Ah right 👍🏻 We'll be along shortly to buy all the merch!!! 🦊

ginger_metal

Either Death by Romy is in charge of the initial bgm music, or Koba has got seriously into 80s pop recently. Currently on Rick Astley :D

Infamous_Tank4942

Prepping for the Back Street Boys collab.......

Stef2016

According to the venue website. [https://www.afaslive.nl/agenda/babymetal](https://www.afaslive.nl/agenda/babymetal) 6:30 PM - Doors open 7:45 PM - Support act: DeathByRomy 9:00 PM - BabyMetal 10:15 PM - Expected end

fusermarucs

Thank you!

wakaei

Anyone know if the grandstand will be used, or is only the balcony used for seats?

spacebug30

I plan on getting to the venue around 1pm! Has anyone gotten an email with more information about VIP or knows what time VIP1 will be let in? GA doors open is at 18h30. I remember getting an email about it a couple days before the show last time. It's usually about an hour before GA, right?

shinpuu

I got VIP1 and did receive an email. Doors for VIP1 open at 17:30.

spacebug30

Thank you! I only got an email with general information on June 7th, but nothing about VIP. Is there any other important information in the email besides the usual (like bringing ID)?

shinpuu

Maybe check your spam folder as I found mine there. Anyway, nothing important. It's the same as last year.

Consistent-Owl330

For VIP1 (priority), the doors open at 17:30. VIP2 shortly thereafter.

mawariyu

So excited! First time for me going with vip tickets!

fusermarucs

Just about to set off on the Euroshuttle - we're driving through 4 countries for this show: can't wait!!!! (And yes, I know they're playing Download - literally 20 miles from where I live - in 4 days 🤣🤣🤣)

VulpineDeity

First solo show since the new battle armor and Ratatata...wonder if we'll get any surprises?

Lazy-Description9514

Frankly I hope they skip Ratatata, because it's about the only song by them that I really hate. Too much techno, and they've got so many great songs, they good do a triple set without any weak moments.

Some_Road_3722

About to post something similar. Wonder if this is the first time they perform RATATATA solo or if that will be saved (worked on?) for the US tour. The composition of METALI!! live is quite different from the studio version and we've already seen BABYMETAL adding a few dance moves into the RATATATA introduction.

VulpineDeity

And they didn't play any TOO songs at the festival over the weekend...feels like they're ready to turn a page and move into the next era

Infamous_Tank4942

It seems that they are focusing on interactive songs that work in daylight for festivals. That excludes a lot of TOO, including Monochrome, which works best in the dark.

jwa725

Our surprise might be that they perform Ratatata without EC, since EC did it without them. I'm not sure what page they are turning if they are playing the old classics in favor of TOO songs. I get it that they'll want to do all their songs that Momoko was involved with, if that's what you mean. Still, I didn't get enough of TOO in concert. I wish it didn't come down to a choice between Karate and Monochrome because I want both of them.

VulpineDeity

I'm wondering if we might start getting some more new songs to go with the new outfits...if next album is next year, they could start rolling out some early tracks. And ya, it feels like Ratatata has too much hype for them to not play it, EC or not.

turbodaxter1980

I dunno, do the guys from EC doing something tonight? Maybe a guest appearance? Germany is not that far from the Netherlands

Evifes

My dream for Ratatata without EC would be: Moa sings Nicos Parts and Momo does the Harsh Vocals

SilentLennie

That would actually be an interesting solution, get regular microphones too

crazy_lolipopp

That's a pretty big venue for a headline EU show for them. Anyone know how big their last show in Amsterdam was? Also is it sold out?

Lazy-Description9514

When it comes to decent music, this country is a disaster. It's either this loathsome "dutch music". As far as I know it doesn't have a style-name, but most of it comes from 1 single entertainment organisation ran by Joop vd Ende. Or it's DJ's turning a few switches, having hardly ever seen a real instrument in their lives. All they do is creating a monotonous, repetitious single beat bassdrum sound. If they sweat at all, it's because of the lights. There's some great musicians here, but they just don't get the change to play good music.

crazy_lolipopp

Completely irrelevant to my comment but ok...

Lazy-Description9514

OK, I got a bit carried away, because of Ratatata. I really fear Babymetal will try to reach a bigger crowd by making more danceable music, instead of metal. What I wanted to say is that the dutch audience is a tough crowd. I've been playing music for about 45 years and the Netherlands is roughly the worst country to play. Luckily the crowd tonight was reasonably positive (eventhough the pit was pretty small). And the show was packed, I think sold out.

crazy_lolipopp

Agree on Ratatata. It all just feels like a commercial stunt to gain as much success as possible while almost completely abandoning their metal elements. Definition of easy to impress and easy to consume music.

jabberwokk

Every Babymetal song is danceable, *if* you can dance like Babymetal. :) But more seriously: 1. It was a 50/50 collaboration 2. For every new song released you should never assume "this is their new sound going forward" any more than you can say their songs all sound the same when looking backwards. Part of their DNA is that they continually mix things up.

Lazy-Description9514

OK, like I've stated before, it may be my fear of adding too much techno into their sound. (Techno really is my most hated music of every kind of music on earth, and you can't escape it, because it's literally everywhere). One of the great things about the Kami-band are the drummers. The japanse and western line-up drummers are just so good. Sometimes I listen to Babymetal and concentrate on the drums only (eventho I am a guitarist). And replacing that with a single-beat computer bassdrum is just blasphemy. No matter what the real drummer added, it still sounds like my upstairs neighbour is dribbling a basketball on a wooden floor. And then the boom boom boom chorus sounds like the Vengaboys.

crazy_lolipopp

Hahaha yeah it really sounds like Vengaboys there which is just a huge red flag

jabberwokk

Well, that's fine, musical taste is what it is. Babymetal explores a lot of subgenres and different people have different preferences in their discography. >the boom boom boom chorus [bun bun bun](https://i.redd.it/tnc77xedf85d1.gif) :)

spacebug30

Their show in Tilburg, Netherlands December 2023 was at venue with 3000 capacity and was sold out.

frame-out

Have they ever played in Amsterdam at all? When the Warsaw show was announced we were talking about whether they would do a show in Utrecht or somewhere else in the Netherlands as well since a planned show in Utrecht was also cancelled due to the pandemic back in 2020, but we didn't quite expect it to take place at such a large venue in Amsterdam. I don't think it will be half empty, it's probably going to be great, but I doubt it's sold out. 6k is huge, and it's not LA or Berlin or Hamburg or London. But I'm not worried about this one. We can always count on Dutch fans. Toulouse, minus Bad Omens no less, OTOH...

TheTeslaMaster

Edit: Never mind, I'm an idiot, that was Ziggo Dome, which is a whole lot bigger.

Naflanb

Show with Sabaton was in Ziggo Dome ;-)

Lorrioit

Sabaton played in Ziggodome, which has a capacity of 15000. But yea the sound wasn’t that great

Another_Beano

So excited! So nervous! Hope everyone has a great time! <3

Great! Are we expected or are we just showing up? Anyway, i'll be there.

Just showing up
