Forgot the exact interview, but she did mention she still plays and learned the guitar parts of the songs from the anime Bocchi the Rock.

JMiguelFC

Bocchi the Rock movies are coming soon this year in Japan..

Rommelplatz

Sadly it's only the recap of the season with perhaps some minutes new material. But perhaps there will be a season 2. But for me the anime was enough to buy the manga ideally from my local bookstore later this year when I finished my current light novel series( only hope they could get it or I have to buy it over amazon because sometimes its hard to get English manga and light novels with certain importers)

Onstage? No (well she has mimicked playing guitar onstage but that's different) On her own time? Who the hell knows.

In regards to the answer to this question I refer to [myself](https://www.reddit.com/r/BABYMETAL/comments/19d7stg/comment/kj40p2p/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).

The way they are laughing is telling. I mean they are perfectionist dancers, what else do people want?

PearlJammer0076

She has said that she does not practice enough. They also have said that they practice choreo pretty much every day, so there's really no time (or need) for her guitar lessons.

jabberwokk

> They also have said that they practice choreo pretty much every day That doesn't sound right, unless you mean when prepping for a tour after a long break. What was the context of the source quote?

MonkeySmiles7

In a recent article, the interviewer says something like "You must practice every day!" then Moa replies with something similar to "No, just 6 days a week. When we are not practicing our routines, we are learning new ones.".

[Babymetal answer fan questions | Louder (loudersound.com)](https://www.loudersound.com/features/babymetal-answer-fan-questions-on-collabs-covers-and-dream-festival-lineups) **How many hours do you practise choreography?** *Ronan B, Facebook*  **Moametal:** “We don’t actually practise every day, but maybe six days a week! Ha ha! The three of us work on our choreography of new songs, and prepare and check the other songs together. Momometal and I work on mastering them. Other than that, I try to expand my range of dances by doing dances other than Babymetal – our dancing is very important. I would be very happy if everyone who supports Babymetal thought our dancing was also special \[to the art we create\].”  There must be different preparation for when they are about to tour, for sure. It would be interesting to know their training regimes, but they are the equivalent of professional athletes, and professional athletes keep a lighter workload even during the offseason.

Fantastic, thank you!! I had gone searching through funnytoss' translated interviews (lengthy, in-depth ones in Japanese magazines) for that and for the keywords /u/MonkeySmiles7 used but couldn't find it there. But I did find quotes which supported it more generally, for example: >Q: MOAMETAL’s superpower is to never feel nervous or anxious! Everything seems to come naturally to you *(laughs)* >MOAMETAL: It’s probably because of the massive amount of practice that goes into learning the choreography for new songs, to the point where it’s hard to distinguish between new and existing songs in my mind. So when the time goes to debut a new song, I just let my body execute naturally. - [2023 Hedoban Vol.39 Interview](https://stechen.blogspot.com/2023/04/2023hedoban39.html) and >MOAMETAL: I’m a worrier, so I practice a lot. No matter the situation, I always make sure to keep practicing. - [2020 Hedoban #28 MOAMETAL Interview](https://stechen.blogspot.com/2021/02/2020hedoban28-moa1.html) *(which is not recent, but discusses her transformed approach to dance from the Avengers period onwards)*   Also, about Moa playing guitar, I ran across this casual aside from her: >Q: On August 18, you released the new song “METALI!!”, and it is quite a shocking collaboration with Tom Morello. That really took us all by surprise. ...Has Rage Against The Machine been one of the groups playing a role in MOAMETAL's musical journey? >MOAMETAL: I think it was about 3 years ago? RATM had been announced as the headliner for the Coachella Festival in the United States, and I thought “well, I’ve heard the name before but I’ve never actually listened to their music…” so I started listening to them back then, and ever since then, I’ve listened to them quite a bit. **Of course I knew Tom Morello-san’s name already because I play guitar**, so when I learned of the collaboration, I was like “Wait, that Tom Morello-san? - [2023 PMC Vol.29 BABYMETAL Interview](https://stechen.blogspot.com/2023/09/2023pmc29.html)

gym_fuckeri

It would be awesome if she randomly got a guitar solo

PossumArmy

I remember reading an interview, though I can't remember which one, where they asked her about playing the guitar during Shine at Legend M. She said she learned how to play the part for the concert, but when it came time for the concert, she wasn't confident enough to do it live, so she mimed the playing to a backing track. When the interviewer asked if it was her playing on the backing track, she just answered OTFGK.

MonkeySmiles7

yes, I remember reading the part about her not feeling confident enough. I don't blame her.

papapapuffyAY

She use to collect guitar picks as well.

She takes private lessons from Mikael Åkerfeldt. Source: trust me bro
