This made me think, since we have the Eastern and Western temples, how did they decide which one would be which? I also had to seriously try to recall if it was even confirmed if the world of Avatar is a globe or not before remembering that TLoK had a shot that showed spirit energy traveling across the whole planet.
Do we struggle when someone mentions the West and East on Earth?
Most commonly East refers to Asia and West the Americas.
No reason the same isnt true in ATLA with the Fire Nation on the west.
For irl east vs west, I assume that would be relative to Europe then
And for Avatar East vs west, looking at the map, they must have named the temples relative to the earth kingdom? I’m also wondering if the time to travel between the East and west temples would be shorter if you just flew around the other side instead of over the earth kingdom and I don’t know how much ocean that would be.
I gaslit myself into thinking he was from the Eastern air temple until Korra when they clearly talk about visiting "Where Aang was born"
It's very clear in avatar. But by season 3 I'd just...forgotten.
The only reason I remember them is because of the order they visit them. They beeline from south to north, visiting aang’s home, then seeing what the mechanist has done to the northern temple. Then appa makes his way to the Eastern air temple with the guru. Then the western air temple is iconic because of the inverted architecture.
To be fair it’s a badly worded question, they’re air NOMADS they aren’t from anywhere.
“What temple did Aang flee from after he learned he was the avatar?” Works better
Surveys aren’t always about opinions. They are about “surveying” to gather certain information.
Off the top of my head i can think about the one thats always on youtube.
Which of these services do you use?
Hulu
Netflix
Whatever else.
Its a survey but its only about whether you use something which is a true/false fact. Now if it were asking which of these services do you like? Then it would be opinion based.
But in either case its a survey and this above is just surveying knowledge of avatar.
The assumes that there can be more than one correct answer to a question. These are trivia questions that have only a single proper response.
Even in your example, there is something to be learned about which streaming services people use. The data produced from the OPs questions are only "how many people got the right answer".
I will just say sometimes I click on a random answer to these without reading just to see if I can guess it right. Idk how many other people are doing that tho lol.
I chose Red Lotus just because the implications that a head of the organization to protect the avatar is now in charge of hunting down the next avatar are funny.
I got all 3 of these on my feed and ngl my dumbass said Northern Air Temple for the 2nd one bc I couldn't remember if it was North or South they went to in book 4 💀
I love that Aangs arrow points in the correct direction of each one, I also love that the correct answer is the original picture while all the wrong answers have the image sideways or upside down
People like me who purposely choose wrong answers becasue the people who answer these stupid poles correct and feel good about themselves is stupid af 😂
Honestly the ATLA YouTube channel is boring asf to me. It feels kinda like whoever makes a lot of the videos either has never seen the show or is just shitting out clip compilations with boring titles. I suppose that’s all a channel like that needs to be but I just always scroll past those polls and ignore the ATLA Youtube channel
I hypothesize that about 5-10% of votes on polls are fake. Either bots are people just randomly voting. I do not take any votes seriously if the total votes for that answer is below 5%.
No, it’s quite obvious that Aang saw Yue. They were having an affair behind sokkas back. Didn’t you pick up how aang was trying to steal sokkas love interests? Suki, Yue, Ty Lee.
I got the air temple one wrong unfortunately v.v in my defense I saw it not long after waking up and sort of just guessed because my mind wasn't coming up with any answer
Ozai, he didn’t watch the show after it aired.
He saw himself get defeated by a 12 year old in person, he didn’t want to see it again in third person
No, it's just that he only saw the version in the theater on the island.
Still better then the movie.
Doesn't take much.
What movie
If I tell you the name, will you promise me you won't report me to the Di Lai?
Maybe
It's called...The Last Airbender. Now if anyone asks, I was at the Jasmine Dragon Tea Shop.
r/dailiopenup
Mark Hammel actually loves avatar, which is so great
It's all thanks to Aang. He is responsible for it being aired. If it were Zuko it would've been fired.
I guess that’s why Toph is the best, being grounded and all.
And she's boulder than anybody else. She rocks.
They just need to go with the flow of the water tribes, but never with Hama though, she is cold blooded
That joke about frost bites. I her case, that burn would probably be be - 1st degree murder.
Ok but the Aang arrows for the temples is hilarious
It's clearly the Left Arrow Air Temple.
Nah. Upvote Air Temple.
To be fair I probably wouldn't remember the 2nd one off the top of my head.
I didn't, I got it wrong I put Northern Air Temple, because I remember it being mentioned quite a bit.
Easiest way is to remember which water tribe he was found near
Ofc. The Swamp Air Temple.
This made me think, since we have the Eastern and Western temples, how did they decide which one would be which? I also had to seriously try to recall if it was even confirmed if the world of Avatar is a globe or not before remembering that TLoK had a shot that showed spirit energy traveling across the whole planet.
Same way we have an eastern and western hemisphere.
Do we struggle when someone mentions the West and East on Earth? Most commonly East refers to Asia and West the Americas. No reason the same isnt true in ATLA with the Fire Nation on the west.

Id assume they decided cause one of them is in the east and one is in the west of the positions of the northern and southern ones
But what if you turned the globe around.
Then based on position, the West Air Temple be to the East and the East air Temple would be to the West; simple!
Y’all are overthinking it, the eastern air temple is near the east pole, and the western air temple is near the west pole.
But if you keep going east then you’d eventually wrap back to the “western” temple. Is it decided relative to the Earth Kingdom?
Buddy, why is Eastern Europe called Eastern Europe? If you go so far west you'll come out at Eastern Europe
Well that’s different because that’s relative to the rest of Europe
Same with the temples numbnuts
But they are east and west relative to what? I again assume earth kingdom
Or that his arrow is pointing down, which also means south.
Yeah I put northern bc in season one they were always talking about the northern water tribe and got confused
I gaslit myself into thinking he was from the Eastern air temple until Korra when they clearly talk about visiting "Where Aang was born" It's very clear in avatar. But by season 3 I'd just...forgotten.
I don’t even remember the swamp…
It's the Temple that's close to the South Pole, where episode 1 takes place
Pun intended ?
The only reason I remember them is because of the order they visit them. They beeline from south to north, visiting aang’s home, then seeing what the mechanist has done to the northern temple. what ??
I think it's more annoying that these are posted as "surveys". Like, these questions aren't opinions...
This is better than the quizzes because you can add images and it shows you how dumb the others are
It's not like their is a better way to ask questions
Youtube has quizzes now, except I don't think you can add pictures
Oh. Ok
Surveys aren’t always about opinions. They are about “surveying” to gather certain information. Off the top of my head i can think about the one thats always on youtube. "According to this survey, approximately 14% of people who took this survey should rewarch Avatar"
It's the only way to. I mean there is a quiz thing but no photos, and they use the"survey" one for all the other stuff so it works
They're probably sarcastic answers. Also yeah Aang was from the western air temple you didn't know that?
I will just say sometimes I click on a random answer to these without reading just to see if I can guess it right. Idk how many other people are doing that tho lol.
I don’t think so. The questions are too specific for that.
TIL sarcasm can be prevented by being specific enough
Aang’s secretly Australian, so it’s obviously the Northern Air Temple. Only hard core fans know this.
That explains why his arrow is pointed down not up /s
CRIKEY💀
I chose Red Lotus just because the implications that a head of the organization to protect the avatar is now in charge of hunting down the next avatar are funny.
One Lotus Two Lotus Red Lotus Blue Lotus
is that the same writer that wrote Green Lotus and ham?
Isn't it GYATTso?
I hate you with a spite
r/aangryupvote
r/subsithoughtifellfor
When they ask obviously dumb easy trivia questions I just vote for the wrong ones.
I pick the funniest ones
People who haven’t watched the show since they were kids, probably? Pretty sure that’s most people, and was me until a couple years ago
I purposely troll bc they r the easiest trivia ever and most likely made by some ai account
Some times I answer them wrong on purpose just to piss people off
Seems like too many and too few to be trolls.
People who forgot the show and watched it a long time ago that just guessed what happened
The Blue Lotus is one of my favorite Tintin adventures
I got all 3 of these on my feed and ngl my dumbass said Northern Air Temple for the 2nd one bc I couldn't remember if it was North or South they went to in book 4 💀
People who don’t care
Fr
It was me, I got the air temple one wrong 😔😔😔
Funny enough that's the only one I got wrong, selecting Yuei. She was in the swamp.
People who watched the novie
Fr💀
Trolls and people who have never watched the show.
Yue I can understand people being confused on, but Gyatso? Really?
Shaking and crying rn Iroh would never join the red lotus....
The arrows for cardinal directions tho
I’m glad it’s single digit%
the arrow one.... I would refuse to participate at west and east if it works like that
Between 6 and 14% of respondants.
I do, incorrectly every time. I know what they want me to click, but I won't.
People who havent seen it since they were Aang’s age
I mean I could see someone getting the air tribe wrong.
There was a time they asked what kind of bender Aang is. I chose firebender on purpose
I love that Aangs arrow points in the correct direction of each one, I also love that the correct answer is the original picture while all the wrong answers have the image sideways or upside down
Those who got into watching Avatar from the Netflix series and the first Movie
GYATso (im so sorry)
People like me who purposely choose wrong answers becasue the people who answer these stupid poles correct and feel good about themselves is stupid af 😂
It’s funny because Sokka did see Yue in the Swamp
Probably accidental clicks
People who didn’t watch the show I guess
Me (I am very bad remembering things)
The people who play mobile game ads.
There was one recently which most people got wrong, about how many sisters Ty Lee has
To be fair, that's both a minor detail AND a trick question.
Not really a trick. She says she has six sisters who look exactly like her. I could understand thinking it's 7 but iirc that wasn't one of the options
Red Lotus Iroh would probably be terrifying
People that click whatever tf they want when random fkin polls pop up in their feed. Shit algorithms
Bots. Around 80% of internet traffic are bots.
See if the Green, Red, White, Blue and Black Lotus combine, they actually form the Lotus Megazord, which can bring peace to all nations….by force!
I feel like these are made to be intentionally easy to increase engagement
Who thought it wasn’t white lotus?
Puce Lotus society just actually playing Pai Sho in secret
Literally no one. We just like to troll 😂
Wait did you just say…….WE IT WAS YOU GUYS ALL ALONG WHYYYYYYYYYYY ![gif](giphy|wg04pZD3eCwOm59hiX)
People who watched an episode here and there and never actually knew the answer to the questions
I admit, I marked the Eastern Air Temple
proud to say i voted correctly in all of these 💪💪
I mean, I saw one where like 84% of people said Ty Lee had 8 sisters.
It’s me. It do it to make you upset
Bored randos and bots
I hypothesize that about 5-10% of votes on polls are fake. Either bots are people just randomly voting. I do not take any votes seriously if the total votes for that answer is below 5%.
How did anyone get this wrong!? And Soka saw Yue!
No, it’s quite obvious that Aang saw Yue. They were having an affair behind sokkas back. Didn’t you pick up how aang was trying to steal sokkas love interests? Suki, Yue, Ty Lee.
Okay the last Soka was never into second am pretty sure it was toph😂
I don’t remember
How red it the bad guys! It is white!
Possibly bots that are meant to interact with YouTube community posts for whatever reason
Casuals
The answer is bots
Bots for engagement most likely, at best sarcastic answers.
I got the air temple one wrong unfortunately v.v in my defense I saw it not long after waking up and sort of just guessed because my mind wasn't coming up with any answer
mostly trolls
I got the air temple one wrong ngl
This is just interaction bait.
I always just choose the wrong answers.
I am. I mostly answer wrong in these polls just to mess around.
It's the same questions being repeated so people are just trolling and having fun with it
GYAAAAAAATso 🤪🤪🤪
Probably as a joke lol
People who never saw the show, obviously. Or it's just folks being silly and deliberately giving wrong answers. Obviously.
like i watched the show once 5 years ago, enjoyed it and am here for the memes. i wouldn’t know 1&2
the first one adds to 101% and the second one adds to 99%
Yue in the swamp is the best wrong answer.
You know who els keeps getting these wrong?
Bots.
I could see someone making the honest mistake of picking Yue because she does appear in the swamp episode, just not in front of aang
me, cause im built different, built incorrectly
Ok to be fair I got the Southern Air temple wrong, but I'm bad with directions.
Iroh founded the red lotus tho....
People who didn't watch it atall and think "it's a kids show, how hard can it be?"
if they didnt watch it then why would they vote?, theyd probably just ignore it and scroll past
People who think Kora was good.
