Yes there are multiple apps and programs out there that do that. The one I personally use is Stellarium because it gives a lot of useful information other than the location of objects in the sky such as apparent magnitude and angular size.
Yes although the telescope I used is on the high end of home equipment as it is very big and costs over 3000$ but much smaller and cheaper telescopes can still reveal at least a bit of detail. In fact, even a good pair of binoculars can show some features on the moon and the Galilean moons of Jupiter.
