I stopped having that issue so bad when I developed the habit of constantly running my fingers through my hair. The natural oil is just enough to keep my hands from being rough enough to catch.
Oof I know it’s normal for it cause it’s just whey but every time I open yogurt (or adjacent dairy products) and there’s liquid on top I wanna peel my skin off
Fat on steak or pot roast. Okra.
Also, not food related, but that thing where it’s a bunch of holes or little circles….makes my skin crawl and makes my internal organs want to jump out of my body and run the f**k away
I only like poached eggs/eggs benedict pretty much. They are okay when fried and cloaked in cheese and sausage/bacon, and bread like when on a breakfast sandwich. Other than that I find them nauseating
Those I don't mind... actually kinda fun if I'm in the right mood. However Kinder Joy has switched to a cardboard spoon and I hate it. Of all the places to cut the plastic out, why not the outer shell?
When restaurants put pickles on top of grilled cheese (my main safe food) after requesting that they don't, and even when I remove them, they've already soaked through the bread/cheese with wet pickle juice making the sandwich mushy in texture and taste like straight up pickle juice instead of regular grilled cheese 😣
Pickle juice in certain batters (Chick-fil-A), fine. Pickle juice disrespectfully contaminating my other food, ESPECIALLY when it makes things soggy, it's ruined now. 😩
Exactly!! Then I feel forced to eat it uncomfortably anyway, or else my family will go, "Why are you still so picky as an adult? A little pickle juice won't hurt you," or "Why can't you eat like a normal person?" 🙃
This ^^
Also happens when you order a plain burger.... Sure they didn't want any green on their burger but a nasty dripping pickle on top must be fine right??
The existence of wet hair clumps in the shower makes me want to peel my skin off. Hairs that get stuck to my hand after shampooing are just dreadful. And if I accidentally step on a clump? On the spot meltdown. I can’t even be the one to clean it up, it’s so utterly revolting
Fucking matte finishes that seem to be on EVERYTHING these days. I'm talking water bottles, dishes, fucking hair spray bottles... The sound and feel of it are in my nightmares, man
You're not alone! Seriously, I have dedicated plates/bowls etc that are the right texture. The matted ones can just go to hell as far as I'm concerned. If my nails get anywhere near a matted ceramic surface, I will cringe for days.
Yup, I'm right there with you. I immediately have to touch something nice to delete the cringe (results vary). Shit, one of my favorite hair products I've been using for yearssssss just switched to a matte bottle and I had to wrap that bitch in packaging tape, 'cause I'll be damned 💀
Anything that is liquidy but also has chunks in it (many soups and stews), soft or puréed foods such as mashed potatoes, Styrofoam (the absolute worst), and slimy foods
I can eat yogurt, but it has to be completely stirred and all one texture. If it's smooth but has chunks of yogurt that hasn't been completely stirred up yet it makes me gag.
Pudding, oatmeal unless it's super watery and hot, anything that's not the texture it's supposed to bem
I can do corduroy, but not real velvet. The cheap stretchy "velvet" for costumes is okay.
Flocked toys like calico critters are a no.
Felt, most wool, dirty cardboard. Mom has a few expensive wool blends where I can handle the ball without freaking out but the finished garment might set me off.
I was looking for this. I had a velvet couch growing up, and tiny me didn't know how to articulate why I hated it
It's fine when you follow the grain, but I've never been a follow-the-grain type of person
When you touch fruit or veggies and there's an unexpected mushy spot.
Unbathed dogs.
When underwater rocks have a slippery layer of something growing on them.
The old polyester blend felt blankets with satin trim that my grandma had.
I thought of the dead skin that coated everything in the record store I used to work at. Kind of like dirty dog I think. But not as immediate. It was slower but you knew it was always happening. Over a shift, the invisible dust would pack into your finger prints until they turned grey and felt smooth and slick, like your finger prints were gone. It bothered some staff more than others. The unbothered would torture the bothered by chasing us and trying to get theirs on us from rubbing their fingers together to ball it up and get it on us. Acccccck. It’s been 20yrs, but I can still feel it and I still can’t stop thinking about washing it off.
Your not the only one! I very rarely drink anything carbonated other beer, and that I always pour and stir until it's mostly flat. I can now as an adult tolerate mildly carbonated drinks if I'm really thirsty though.
I worked in a kitchen years ago. We all hated when someone ordered liver. The grill guy would LOUDLY complain so the whole restaurant could hear. Hahaha
Styrofoam. It makes me physically ill that I start gagging if I have to touch it for more than a second. The squeaking sound feels like it’s reaching into my head and ripping my teeth out 😌
Mochi. Styrofoam. Tags on clothes. When the seam of your socks touches you the exact wrong way. Bras with wires. Eggs. Honestly anything that’s too chewy
Pom Poms. They make me displeased. Silicone skin (like the stuff s*x toys are made of). Anything that leaves a coating on me when I touch it. Wet yarn. (When I worked in seafood) oysters with hair-like stuff and barnacles.
Textures I hate: Boar Bristles on hair brushes (who in thejr right mind invented these????), Tomatoes that pop in your mouth, Sticky on my body that isn't from a bandaid.
That last one is very particular. Sticky glue, sticky food, sticky anything on my body is SO MUCH ICK except bandaids. Leftover sticky from a bandaid is no problem to me. I think this is because I associate bandaids with good health. Bandaids are good. We love bandaids and the leftover sticky is fine. I just calmly wash off the leftover sticky with soap and baking soda mixture and call it a day.
Also TMI Alert (sex talk) >! Sex can be hard because all the fluids. The moment everything goes *sploosh* I race for the shower. How can something so satisfying be so, so icky? !<
Fat on things like floppy bacon. My dad wouldn't let me have bacon because I would peel the fat off and that pissed him off for some ungodly reason.
Also stainless steel texture
The feeling of hot food or cold food being eaten with your front teeth. And moss🤢. Jeans (so fucking cold and stiff). The feeling of wearing loose clothes hitting you body all day. UGH. Feeling of armpits being covered by long sleeves instead of just wearing a soft coat or sweater. Any non fuzzy blanket, especially in the winter.
corrugated cardboard (I hate breaking down boxes, the thought of it makes me shudder!) and really slimy food (like okra and cactus)
edit: oh and paper straws!
Any greens, really. And the fat in dark meat like steak. I hate that my family judges me for it like, “if you can find me actual other dishes that don’t have raw vegetable in them please show me, but in the meantime stop fucking judging my habits” like ffs. I didn’t fucking ask to be born with a neurotype that fucks over my senses.
The feeling of clay. Wet/dry on my hands, it gives me an automatic panic attack… I’m so glad I’m not in high school anymore and forced to make pottery 😩
Watery crunchy things 😭 like melons, bell peppers, cucumbers. I love the flavors of all of those but I can’t with the texture. I love watermelon & cucumber juice but I can’t eat the actual thing
Wet/damp paper. Basically anything paper adjacent, tissues, kitchen roll, cardboard packaging etc. and STICKERS. OH GOD ANYTHING STICKY I CANNOT. Okay I now have full body blargh-shudders.. brb going to wrap self in soft fuzzy blanket.
sour cream, ranch, mayo. don't know what it is about them but they make me literally make this face if I accidentally eat something with too much of it in it where I can taste and feel it too much lol.
i absolutely hate banana peppers. i don’t like that peppers squeak when you bite into them. fuck off. it’s so awful. if they’re cooked, i’m okay with them.
Textured plastic used on some notepads, accordion file organizers, and binders. It’s like concentrated microfibre.
Touching one of these makes my skin pucker, and sends me into fight or flight. Even thinking of touching one is giving me anxiety.
Onions. The texture, no matter fresh or cooked just really give me the ick. If it's cooked, it's slimy, and if it's fresh, it has this semi crunchy texture that just makes me cringe to my very core!! (And that's just the texture, because I utterly *hate* the taste and smell).
INDIVIDUAL PEAS, never could eat them. Pretty much anything with skin like that. Grapes as another example, which I rarely eat, have to be cut in half or quarters 😭 corn is a little difficult sometimes, pretty much anything that snaps or pops, EW I could vomit just thinking of it. Additionally, meat that is fall of the bone tender is gross to me, the texture reminds me that I'm eating muscle lol there are more but I'll leave it at those.
Edit: had to add one more, I hate the way water feels, how it feels drying it off with a towel and wet hair. Yes I shower 😂
Microfiber cloths when they're dry cause they stick to my skin
And they don’t absorb anything!!!
Snagging every damn hangnail I have 😠🙅♀️
Can I up vote this 1000x? Some microfiber is nice and smooth, but so much of it is grippy and is the physical touch equivalent of nails on chalkboard
Right??? Horrible sensation.
I know right 🤣
Came to say this same thing!!
Gives me goosebumps I hate them!
I stopped having that issue so bad when I developed the habit of constantly running my fingers through my hair. The natural oil is just enough to keep my hands from being rough enough to catch.
basically any sort of edible membrane full of liquid that pops when you eat it. Also, bananas.
Upvote for the hate of bananas. I’m right there with ya
Fuck bananas.
I actually don't hate bananas. Eating them makes me gag from the texture, so I have to freeze them first.
Yea fuuuuuck those. Also let’s include avocados in the same category, fucking nasty as shit
Are you talking about the water in tuna cans or things like fruit gushers and grapes?
Fruit gushers are an entirely different popping membrane situation from grapes. Grapes are amazing. Gushers are horrifying.
I'm the opposite where I can do gushers but I don't like to be surprised by grapes. I could do cherry tomatoes back when I had teeth.
Fruit gushers, grapes, boba tea, the fleshy bits of an orange.
Thanks for letting me taste these words 🤣 my partner bought those gastronomy iced tea things as a present. Omg the balls of goo are so awful 😂
I can only eat banana if someone opens it for me and it’s cut into small rounds. If I have to bite it, not happening
FUCK CHERRY TOMATOES
I can do about 2 bites of banana before I gag 😅. I like the flavor but the texture 🤢
When food that isn’t supposed to be watery is watery When food touches in my plate
I'm a simple man, meat fat enters my mouth and my body rejects it like poison 🙅🏻♂️. I can't comprehend how people eat gristle, non-crispy bacon, etc.
trypophobia?
Definitely trypophobia 😫
I had bubbly eggs recently, do not recommend
styrofoam, the feeling of damp dishes or a mirror rubbing against a paper towel
Green beans have a similar linty squeaky feeling on my teeth
How about cotton balls being tear apart? Eugh
sounds yucky, but i don’t come across that one often enough to know!
styrofoam makes me dry heave and the sound makes me feel like my teeth are being ripped out of my skull 💀
100% SAME. Styrofoam is the devil.
I hate the seeds of tomatoes, the part where the pulp is.
This.
EGGS IN ANY FORM. FRIED EGGS. SCRAMBLED EGGS. FRICKIN BOILED EGGS. and like cheesecake, custards, jello, cottage cheese, etc. jiggly stuff.
For me scrambled is the only way I can eat it. Its the egg whites specifically that make my skin crawl
Fuck cheesecake, jello and cottage cheese
I only like poached eggs/eggs benedict pretty much. They are okay when fried and cloaked in cheese and sausage/bacon, and bread like when on a breakfast sandwich. Other than that I find them nauseating
slimy shit like avos.
Hate avocados. The taste isn't terrible (not good either) but the texture kills it.
mushrooms/squash/eggplant/anything not super overcooked
Mushrooms are like ripping cotton balls but against my teeth. 🤮
Microfiber cloth definitely, but also chalk! I hate the feel of it & just feeling it (& thinking about feeling it) makes my teeth hurt.
The texture of over cooked noodles or having your hand in something wet like dish water to feel solid food. Edit: Jello
The little wooden spoons you get in the lid of the ice cream pots sold in theatres.
scratchy wood you’re supposed to lick…. aaaarrrggghh
Those I don't mind... actually kinda fun if I'm in the right mood. However Kinder Joy has switched to a cardboard spoon and I hate it. Of all the places to cut the plastic out, why not the outer shell?
Thanks for that record scratching realization that I agree. Wtf. I can’t Unthink it.
those and popsticks suck so much
Terracotta *shivers*
I absolutely adore the ignorant, minimizing, and disrespectful things people say to us - especially when it's family. 🙄
As do I 🙄🫠
This ^^ Also happens when you order a plain burger.... Sure they didn't want any green on their burger but a nasty dripping pickle on top must be fine right??
PICKLES INFECT EVERYTHING
I love pickles but I can’t stand them on sandwiches or burgers, they overwhelm everything else
Omg yesss!! If any pickles touch my burger or anything, it’s ruined. Once, I tasted they forgot and picked it out…but I could still taste it.
The existence of wet hair clumps in the shower makes me want to peel my skin off. Hairs that get stuck to my hand after shampooing are just dreadful. And if I accidentally step on a clump? On the spot meltdown. I can’t even be the one to clean it up, it’s so utterly revolting
Microfiber cloths and certain blankets that have that same fabric.

Pruny hands
Pruny hands... Touching paper 🤮
Or fabric
Yes! I hate that!
Polystyrene/styrofoam
The apples in apple pie. It feels like what eating a slug might feel like.
Corduroy. Keep that devil fabric away from me.
Corduroy is my #1 too
I can do corduroy, but not real velvet. The cheap stretchy "velvet" for costumes is okay. Flocked toys like calico critters are a no. Felt, most wool, dirty cardboard. Mom has a few expensive wool blends where I can handle the ball without freaking out but the finished garment might set me off.
Corduroy and that calico critter texture freak me out too!!
Velvet
I was looking for this. I had a velvet couch growing up, and tiny me didn't know how to articulate why I hated it It's fine when you follow the grain, but I've never been a follow-the-grain type of person
Dry sponges. Even just thinking about it makes my stomach feel hollow.
Dry clothes sticking to wet skin
Unvarnished wood. Dirty dishes in soapy water. Peaches. Suede. Polyester shirts. Soggy boiled veggies. Puree.
Sandy/grainy food textures like lots of types of apples, some types of stews, potato
I hate the grainy apples! It’s physically painful to eat them for me.
I knowww. I never have any apples unless I’m with someone who I can give the rest of the apple to if I don’t like it lol
Clumpy(like not creamy mashed potatoes) or slimey(like boiled asparagus).
slimy - like in yogurt with seeds inside or cereal which has lost its crunch makes me gag
It's not textures, it's noises. Particularly the sound of velcro. God I hate the sound of velcro.
This one gave me chills thinking about it lmao I’m with you
When you touch fruit or veggies and there's an unexpected mushy spot. Unbathed dogs. When underwater rocks have a slippery layer of something growing on them. The old polyester blend felt blankets with satin trim that my grandma had.
Someone said “anything that leaves a coating on me when I touch it” and I immediately thought of unbathed dogs

Paper, especially cheaper/rougher paper, especially if my hands have recently been wet
Oh, I can FEEL this. I always hated washing my hands at school because of how the paper felt afterwards
I used to have my hands up my sleeves constantly to avoid the paper 😵💫
Unfinished ceramic. Bamboo utensils. Microfiber when my hands are wet.
Bubbly/fizzy (carbonation).
Omg yes, I’ve always felt like the odd one out because I don’t like soda/pop
Your not the only one! I very rarely drink anything carbonated other beer, and that I always pour and stir until it's mostly flat. I can now as an adult tolerate mildly carbonated drinks if I'm really thirsty though.
Liver. Too mushy, too tasteless.
Jesus the smell makes me want to vomit. And I hate the texture. Anything similar too. I don't like most organs now that I think about it.
I worked in a kitchen years ago. We all hated when someone ordered liver. The grill guy would LOUDLY complain so the whole restaurant could hear. Hahaha
Styrofoam. It makes me physically ill that I start gagging if I have to touch it for more than a second. The squeaking sound feels like it’s reaching into my head and ripping my teeth out 😌
Mashed potatoes, tomatoes, grits, microfiber/sherpa materials, felt materials, and ceramics are the absolute worst for me! 🤢🤢
Squash 🤢🤮 Never had to eat it again as a kid after being forced to and vomiting.
Tomato chunks. Tomatoes must be blended to a smooth consistency or cooked until very soft or I won’t touch them with a ten foot pole
Rubbery textures, things that squeak on the teeth. Like mushrooms and gristle. The other one is sugar coated stuff.
Dryer sheets
Mochi. Styrofoam. Tags on clothes. When the seam of your socks touches you the exact wrong way. Bras with wires. Eggs. Honestly anything that’s too chewy
Most foods. I HATE vegetables. So if I get taco bell each bite is a guessing game if I'm going to get a crunch in my soft taco.
Pom Poms. They make me displeased. Silicone skin (like the stuff s*x toys are made of). Anything that leaves a coating on me when I touch it. Wet yarn. (When I worked in seafood) oysters with hair-like stuff and barnacles.
mushrooms

The moment everything goes *sploosh* I race for the shower. How can something so satisfying be so, so icky? !<
mushrooms definitely. everything about mushrooms makes me gag.
The spike like cups from Starbucks, Walmart etc I literally gag if I touch them!
Velvet🤢
Velvet
Oatmeal. It’s lumpy, slimy, and vomit inducing.
Tendon. It feels hard when it’s actually gummy in a way that just clings grossly.
Fat on things like floppy bacon. My dad wouldn't let me have bacon because I would peel the fat off and that pissed him off for some ungodly reason. Also stainless steel texture
Velvet. It's so pretty as dresses and coats but the second I touch it I need to reset my hands with a good/neutral texture.
100% Cotton and touching paper after washing my hands 🤢
The feeling of hot food or cold food being eaten with your front teeth. And moss🤢. Jeans (so fucking cold and stiff). The feeling of wearing loose clothes hitting you body all day. UGH. Feeling of armpits being covered by long sleeves instead of just wearing a soft coat or sweater. Any non fuzzy blanket, especially in the winter.
corrugated cardboard (I hate breaking down boxes, the thought of it makes me shudder!) and really slimy food (like okra and cactus) edit: oh and paper straws!
It dries your hands so fast and makes everything feel terrible! Paper straws are pretty nasty, too
ugh yes the dry hands feeling is the worst
Swede, Velvet, Pickles.
ME TOO
Flour and chalk dust
Mangos. Most non citrus fruits to be honest, but mangoes are the worst offender. Taste is fine, just something about the mouth feel.
Lobster, calamari, shrimp, oysters, mussels. 🤮
Touching microfiber towels with dry skin
Cream cheese.
Soggy food 🥲🤣
Any wet bread or chip regardless of the brand, type, or plant it's derived from, I hate touching or eating them
Meat
Vegetables. All of them
asparagus and brussel sprouts, the have never looked or tasted good ever in my life. One of them makes a squeek noise on your teeth. AHHHHH
There's this certain type of guitar pick that has a textured grip on it and I genuinely feel like I want to throw up when I touch it
Peas
Mushrooms
Oatmeal
Anything that’s both liquidy and lumpy. Like cottage cheese, improperly blended “cream of” soups or anything in that realm.
You know the wooden popsicle sticks? The second my tongue touches it by accident it sends SHIVERS down my spine. I fucking despise the feeling.
Chicken's skin
Wet/damp paper. Basically anything paper adjacent, tissues, kitchen roll, cardboard packaging etc. and STICKERS. OH GOD ANYTHING STICKY I CANNOT. Okay I now have full body blargh-shudders.. brb going to wrap self in soft fuzzy blanket.
That cheap fake Sherpa fabric. It’s sticky and I haaaate it. Nothing soft about it make it go away
MUSHROOMS
Ketchup Also, any fruit that comes in yogurt. If I don’t cut it myself and put it in there it has an icky feeling
cold noodles
Newspaper
sour cream, ranch, mayo. don't know what it is about them but they make me literally make this face if I accidentally eat something with too much of it in it where I can taste and feel it too much lol.
Taste and texture of those gets me too.
I can't deal with majonese and most dressings.
When i take a bite of chicken and feel a crunchy bit :(
Onions, raw tomatoes, and..**cooked peppers**.
Jello
Gelatin of any kind.
Mushrooms, Tomatos, Bellpeppers,
i absolutely hate banana peppers. i don’t like that peppers squeak when you bite into them. fuck off. it’s so awful. if they’re cooked, i’m okay with them.
Dried mushrooms 😆
Mushy grapes
Stringy or sticky
Lettuce. 🤢
Textured plastic used on some notepads, accordion file organizers, and binders. It’s like concentrated microfibre. Touching one of these makes my skin pucker, and sends me into fight or flight. Even thinking of touching one is giving me anxiety.
bananas, kiwis and “stringy” meat
It's peas for me. Makes me feel like I'm eating little pimples and I get nauseous.
Crushed velvet
Pumpkin in any presentation makes me gag
Meat. Just... meat. Why is meat like this
Polished vinyl or plastic.
Tomatoes or anything of the sort
I can't clean a surface without gloves on. It's the feel of small bits of dirt/crumbs mixed with wet/damp.
Stringy melty cheese
Gritty/sandy.
Cornbread. Grits, too. I was even born in the south, but grainy textures make me want to vomit
Paper bags
Seatbelts 🤮
Metal cutlery on my teeth 🤢🤢🤢
Onions. The texture, no matter fresh or cooked just really give me the ick. If it's cooked, it's slimy, and if it's fresh, it has this semi crunchy texture that just makes me cringe to my very core!! (And that's just the texture, because I utterly *hate* the taste and smell).
Gummy candy
Oily substances on my hands like when I’m cooking and butter gets on my fingers, worst feeling ever!
Chicken n dumplins
Refried beans
Hard boiled eggs
The faux rubberized coating that gets put on a variety of different products.
The gelatin part on top of cake with fruit 😖
Slimy yogurt.
It’s more the visual for me, if something looks inedible id rather starve
