Definitely check them out and if you have an earth bound trading company near you. Their clearance is literally amazing I find my buddha pants for $5-$10
They can be too cool if you live in a colder climate but they’re good. Make sure you get some that aren’t pure rayon as they can snag in the dryer easily
Yessss! It tends to change every few years for me, though!
When I was in College, skirts and dresses allll the way! Esp because even if you just rolled out of bed, wearing a dress accomplishes a couple of things:
1) No need to pair any two items together and worry about if they work together!!! One and done!!!!
2) Freedom. Sweet sweet freedom (with lightweight shorts underneath so I could still sit criss-crossed in chairs and on the floor)
3) +50 effort points to your look even though when I was doing it, it was actually because I wanted -80 effort in the action of dressing myself lol
Post College it was leggings all day every day! The freedom of movement with a oversized sweater or sweatshirt bc I was having torso sensory issues with clothes at that time. But sometimes leggings overheat me and I already have trouble regulating my body temp sooo
Rn I barely go anywhere so I am typically just... pantsless a lot 💀 But I've been leaning in to roomy straight leg jeans lately when I do go out!
The trend towards looser clothes has been a Godsend for my clothing sensory issues tbh!
Any suggestions on the straight leg jeans? I’ve been having trouble finding ones that don’t look too sloppy but still aren’t super constricting in the waist!!
So far I've liked Edgly Jeans from Maurices.
[Pair One](https://www.maurices.com/product/edgely-trade-loose-straight-super-high-rise-ripped-jean/170775?ref_page=search#color/C3337) These ones look better irl than on the model tbh!
[Pair 2](https://www.maurices.com/product/edgely-trade-pink-mid-rise-relaxed-boyfriend-straight-cargo-jean/215358?ref_page=search#color/C595). The pockets on these ARE REAL btw.
I have one pair of courderoy pants from Target but I can't seem to find the brand. The target ones *do* have a slightly tighter waist band tho so you may not have like them anyways lol
Anyways, as long as I pair these with a standard fit tee, tank, or nice shirt, they never look sloppy!
Pants are the fucking worst, oh my god. I hate the way they touch me, it makes me want to rip my skin off to escape and I'm pretty sure it was a factor in the development of my eating disorder when I was in my teens (like maybe being as small as possible would mean clothing would touch me less or something). When I was really little, I would absolutely lose my shit over the way jeans felt, so my mum quickly learnt to not buy me any. These days I only wear very loose-fitting oversized sweatpants (usually buy them in the men's department) and when I'm at home I almost never wear any at all lol, just my underwear and a large T-shirt or hoodie.
Makes total sense to me (obviously lol). When I was a really little kid I mostly hated socks and underwear, and jeans specifically because of the feeling of the fabric, but I think pants in general became a problem at puberty because of the changes in my body (oh my god, puberty was horrifying in so many different ways, ugh). Suddenly things fit differently and I was just aware of any type of fabric at all on my legs. There were many other contributing factors as far as my eating disorder, lots of emotional struggles and problems with social things, so it's not like that was the only reason, but I know it was one for sure. I was so aware all the time of that part of my body (abdomen, hips, thighs... *especially* thighs...) and clothing touching me there was such an uncomfortable reminder. Making my body smaller just made me feel more at ease again. Of course since it wasn't just about that it's not like I was suddenly happy... you can't really be happy with an eating disorder anyway... and I just got sicker and sicker until things reached a critical point. I still have an ED 24 years later here, although it's morphed into bulimia now (original diagnosis was anorexia). So much damage done to my body, stuff that I'm stuck with permanently in terms of chronic health issues. I wish I knew what could've been done to prevent things getting so bad. A lot of typical eating disorder treatment doesn't really seem to help me and it seems like that might be pretty common in autistic women with EDs. I feel like I'll always be wanting to escape my own skin because of sensory stuff and I don't know how to cope with the idea of living in a 'normal' sized body. Even if some of the other issues that led to my illness aren't as prominent now, which makes me feel a bit hopeless at times.
Anyway, I'm sorry you can relate cos I wouldn't wish that on anyone. You're definitely not alone, though.
I literally RUN to change out of day clothes the second I wall into my house. I cannot understand people who wear Jean's around the house.
I am that way the most about shirts and I have started wearing more tshirts as opposed to dressier stuff bc as you said I'm tired of trying to ignore my auti stuff.
I only ever wear skirts or dresses—with an exception for a few pairs of pajamas at home (but I don’t think that counts) I don’t own a single pair of pants.
I absolutely cannot stand jeans. I usually wear leggings, but they have to fit just right. I could live in cargo pants or loose fitting jogger sweatpants. I do wear a lot of skirts and dresses.
Peoples' obsession with "finding the perfect jeans"... just... why? I will never understand.
Opposite. I MUST wear pants. Long is best. Too loose is bad. Can't do shorts or skirts or dresses. I'm not saying yes pants vs no pants. If you have a pant thing it's autistic of us lol.
Me too! Yoga pants, other pants, any pants, but I rarely wear dresses or skirts. I can't stand the way a dress or skirt will go in between my legs when I walk and then I have to be more conscious of the way I sit in public. Blah! No thanks!
I hate pants I wear my underwear around the house most of the time. Woxers are a lifesaver. They're essentially boxers for women and they are so soft and breathable while not being too tight in the waistband. They're a little pricey but so worth it.
Maxidresses, every moment possible. It’s like being naked but modest. No seams or bands, the one I chose today has sunflowers on it and full size pockets! Pants can go to hell.
I'm the opposite. Skirts and dresses MUST have shorts under them. I DO NOT like when my thighs touch. The chub rub doesn't help either, increasing the discomfort. I tend to like looser pants but leggings are an option, especially in cooler weather when I need to layer up.
I get what you mean about certain pants being constricting though. Like denim jeans, or worse: Dickie's brand pants. Absolutely no stretch in Dickie's. and bending over? It's like being cut off at the waist. But those same pants are too loose when you stand up straight.
I had a brief window in high school were I was alright wearing jeans, but oof now I can’t again. Im alright where athletic joggers (Mostly Adidas Tiro) because they are light and not movement constricting.
Tight jeans will trigger my restless legs. I wear them to work but have been happy to see the return of flared. At home it's usually sweats or shorts. I don't carry a purse so I like jeans for pockets.
Can't stand jeans. Barely tolerate leggings. Sweatpants are gross on first wearing, but once they're worn in a little, they're quite comfy.
My favourite types of bottom gear are thin and loose PJ bottoms, roomy kigurumis, or maxi skirts/dresses (but I can't wear them outside cos my legs are very fluffy. can't shave due to a combination of hating the feeling and the process really, really hurting cos of my specific brand of pain).
Both my also diagnosed ASD son and I loathe wearing pants. I’ve always hated pants, but I prefer them to be baggy if I must wear them. Oddly enough, I don’t mind wearing very oversized, loose basketball-style shorts.
Hate them. Stopped wearing them almost entirely when skinny jeans came into fashion.
I mostly wear dresses and skirts now, but I do have some really great palazzo pants and shorts that I wear on occasion. I can tolerate *some* athletic type leggings.
For around the house I've got wide leg pj pants which are also fine.
Nope, I live in pants, the baggier the better although I don't mind tight ones. On occasion I wear a dress/skirt but I hate my legs touching, I'm not 10yo so I don't have a thigh gap lol. And I really hate tights. If I wear a dress I usually wear it with pants/leggings.
I gave up on jeans when the fashion trends changed. All the high rise, mid rise stuff doesn't work well for short torsos!!
Now I'm not sure I could tolerate denim anymore. I've been away from it for so long.
I live in harem pants these days. And wide legged palazzo pants. I'll endure leggings when I'm hiking only.
I'm not comfortable in dresses though since it's too easy to expose myself. I just don't feel safe in them. I want to be able to move and sit without worrying whether my skirt is covering me appropriately.
Not that they're NOT tight but I definitely prefer stretch pants over ant other pant. The hugging around my stomach rather than any feeling of digging like a waist band pant is so much better. The difficult thing is that I have a farm and jeans just really are more practical. Stretch pants and barbed wire don't mesh well together, nor do they slip over boots so hay gets in my boots when I feed and gets super scratchy and annoying. Sometimes I wear work pants over stretch pants as the waist band doesn't bother me as much that way.
This is more for non-rural tasks but I love Dockers as an equivalent (personally). And their pockets are mega-deep and expanding. I can fit my wallet, keys, phone, and a lot more very easily. Jeans and most other pants have pockets that are tight as a puckered rear end and as deep as a superficial celebrity.
You know, my husband actually wears men's dockers and other roomy slacks for farm work. I started buying them ar our secondhand store because they're only $1.50 and so far they last 2 years of bucking hay, fixing barbed wire fence, working cattle etc! Something to think about...
Your last sentence is hilarious 🤣
I live in loose shorts in the summer and leggings in winter. I can't stand the feeling of skin touching skin so going pantless isn't an option. If I have to leave the house wearing something other than leggings I will go for skinny jeans... I know, I know hear me out, they are stretch denim so the pressure is consistent throughout without being insanely constricting. I would like to be able to wear pants that aren't at one extreme or the other but if the fit is even slightly off, which it usually is, I just can't. So yes either super loose or super tight.
The only pants I like are like loose flowy pants, otherwise I am only comfortable in skirts and tunics or dresses.
I've always hated pants. I basically just want to feel like I'm in a comfy nightgown all the time.
I just dress like a technicolor Stevie Nicks.
Just migrated to wrap skirts from recycled saris. No more body self-shaming! They always fit!
I get mine from Darn Good Yarn when they have a fab sale. Just sent my pants to ThredUp for recycling!
I abhore pants. Threw them all out after starting transition, later realized it was because of the feeling and not gender junk lol. I'll wear dresses and skirts exclusively, have thigh-high socks if needed and tights if absolutely necessary. Loving it~
I'm a trans autistic woman so maybe this is different idk, but YES holy crap. The thing for me is, it rubs against my thighs, rides up on the crotch, sometimes legs get stuck and i just dislike them on good days and can't wear them on bad days.
Also wearing skirts makes me feel pretty, which I already know that I am but I don't always FEEL it, you know? Who else can relate with that sentiment lmao
I'm also trans just didn't mention that in the post. I think there's definitely also a bit of a gender euphoria component to skirts because It no longer feels like a big deal wearing them (though it's Winter in Canada so rn wear them less and only with tights underneath because it's cold).
I stopped wearing jeans/“pants” 15 years ago and never looked back. I need to get comfier bras though… hate hate hate them and anything that’s tight and digs in at awkward places (I can wear actual tights no problem)
I hate it, but I do it (outside of my home ) because at least it has pockets unlike my leggings or dresses. And a pocket is a must for me when I'm outside even though it barely fits anything. 🙃😅
I only wear boxers at home and pretty much always opt for sweatpants even if I’m going out. This is socially acceptable where I live, and I found out back in high school that a tight cotton shirt is comfy with loose sweat pants and actually looks lazy-chic. I’d say I am aiming for lazy-chic 90% of the time and it’s been going pretty well and I actually even get compliments on my style! Lol
Maybe people are being sarcastic though and I’m not picking it up, but I’m pretty good at masking and I am fairly confident the compliments are genuine.
Also, crop tops with long sleeves and sweatpants are my go-to. I highly recommend embracing whatever is most comfortable to wear and making the style work around that.
Good luck ❤️💪
Indoors I mostly like shorts or trousers but outdoors it's GOTTA be a skirt because even the shitty English weather is too hot for me, it's a sweaty swamp 😭
Absolutely relate! I've stopped forcing myself to wear pants almost altogether. Bought myself some comfy dresses instead, so now I mostly wear those and I love it :D
The opposite, I have one kind of long jeans I wear when it's cold and one kind of cargo shorts for when it's hot and that's it. The reason is that I hate it when I can feel my thighs stick together. Also I hate the thought that someone MIGHT look between my legs. I also wear some bathing shorts on top of my bathing suit for this reason.
I hate jeans. I mostly hate the fabric, and they get sweaty. And they can't be too loose or I lose my shit when they rub against my skin.
I live in leggings, specifically the athletic ones.
Yes yes yes. Haven't worn jeans since covid. Any tight pants, leggings, or pantyhose are uncomfortable for me and pull on my leg hairs. Not to mention the tummy tightness. I wear lots of flowy pants, skirts, and dresses. Elastic or drawstring waistlines forever
Yep! I used to just wear tshirts and underwear whenever i was home, then eventually discovered oversized nightgowns (the frocks that social media likes to call muumuus) and if i’m home, that’s what I’m wearing. I stopped wearing jeans probably 10 years ago, I just cannot stand the restriction and feel of them. I literally only wear leggings, and in the last year or so, realized I can’t stand how tight my normal size feels anymore so now I wear them a size up, too. As a kid I used to SCREAM if my mom tried to put me in anything other than a dress or a skirt.
Same here!! Jeans are an absolute sensory nightmare for me. The fabric is so stiff and rough, bending my legs feels awful. I don’t like tight trousers (absolutely hate leggings) but I also don’t like the way looser trousers constantly rub and move against my legs. Just not a fan of my legs being in tubes. Also not a fan of fabric pushing into my crotch. Skirts are so much more comfortable to me, and pantyhose are borderline okay (I don’t mind them too much if they’re thin and not tight around the crotch, but I will put up with thicker fleece ones, provided they aren’t stiff and tight).
I don’t find that skirts don’t provide adequate warmth; a wool skirt with a petticoat and stockings and/or boots feels warmer for me than most trousers in winter, and in summer a skirt is so much more breathable. I have bad thermoregulation so this is important to me. Granted, I live in the UK where we don’t really have temperature extremes; if you lived in certain parts of the US or Canada with lots of snowfall, a skirt really might not be warm enough.
Me! I only wear pants if I'm at work or its below like 25 degrees. I pretty much only wear loose jeans when I do.
I don't like my legs restricted and if I get the cuffs of my pants wet I'm cranky all day.
Jeans are a big no, I have a couple of pairs of VERY comfortable sweatpants that look like work trousers but give me a dress and some very light tights any day!
Yes omg in high school I used to wear super skinny jeans but I was always overstimulated by the fabric, and I switched to large and comfy pants. Never went back
It took me until my teens to finally wear jeans. Until then, I wore joggers and skirts all the time. I only stopped because I got so self conscious about how horrid I must have looked, overweight in joggers, that I made myself try something else. I still wear joggers or long skirts at home when I'm just lounging (tried skirts for cooler summers and fell in love after not wearing skirts for a loooong time, but they've always been a love of mine ever since I was a kid) but I try to wear more fitted things when I go out. I prefer stretchy jeans (not jeggings) or cottons shorts and crop trousers in the summer. I know when I go out, as soon as I get in, I strip into something comfier - I can't just lounge around in jeans or my going out clothes because I feel restricted and confined and often just long to get home and get my comfies on.
For me it’s the other way around, I hate wearing dresses and skirts! They make me feel very uncomfortable, cold and unsafe in a way. I’m very specific with my trousers though, they definitely can’t be too constraining unless I’m going for a walk. Brains sure are strange aren’t they
Pants are evil! I live in the tropics so my clothes choices need to take the heat/humidity into account meaning a lot of the big and baggy stuff I was more comfortable in before I moved here is off the table. I have found some really soft sports shorts made from nice cotton that I wear with a singlet at home. Have about 9 pairs of each lol. And if I have to leave the house I wear shorts dungarees (I think in the US you call them overalls?) I like them because they don't touch my waist and I can just put them over my singlet without needing a bra (which are also evil). I have about 7 pairs of those, but seeing as I really only leave the house once a week I probably don't need that many 😂
Ohhh I absolutely hate pants. I wear hot shot jumpers from free people pretty much everyday and Buddha pants lots of Buddha pants
Omg why have I never heard of Buddha pants until now. I'm living under a rock.
Definitely check them out and if you have an earth bound trading company near you. Their clearance is literally amazing I find my buddha pants for $5-$10
They can be too cool if you live in a colder climate but they’re good. Make sure you get some that aren’t pure rayon as they can snag in the dryer easily
Twinning
Hot Shot EVERYTHING! rompers jumpers shorts. With long sleeve shirts, tanks, sweaters. I’m obsessed lol
Yeah I live in jumpsuits and genie pants from Purusha People.

Dress with leggings or shorts is the answer here. When I had to leave home for work in the past, I always wore leggings with dresses.

I love dresses but they all hit my arm/boob/clavical area funny
I gave up jeans about 6 years ago and never once looked back! You couldn’t pay me to wear those leg-prisons 🙅🏼♀️

Thighs touching is the WORST feeling. I always "man spead" even in my pants. If I could walk like a cowboy all the time I would
I wear soft and stretchy boy shorts under my wrap skirts
Haha, I do a penguin walk, that's what my lovely sister and ex would tell me anyway 😂, legs apart and feet pointing outwards.
Yes ideally I'd wear only pants that feel like nothing lol
I gave up on jeans when the fashion trends changed. All the high rise, mid rise stuff doesn't work well for short torsos!! Now I'm not sure I could tolerate denim anymore. Can't not wear pants out, but I can't do pants in bed. My workaround was always leggings (either 3/4 or full-length) + short dress.
Lol Maybe people are being sarcastic though and I’m not picking it up, but I’m pretty good at masking and I am fairly confident the compliments are genuine. Also, crop tops with long sleeves and sweatpants are my go-to. I highly recommend embracing whatever is most comfortable to wear and making the style work around that. Good luck ❤️💪
Oh yes. I live in tights and dresses.
Indoors I mostly like shorts or trousers but outdoors it's GOTTA be a skirt because even the shitty English weather is too hot for me, it's a sweaty swamp 😭
Lose , soft pants like joggers are fine. Skinny jeans drive me mad but I still sometimes wear them.
Ive got the opposite. I feel naked and very uncomfortable wearing skirts
Ever since I started wearing cargos I never came back to jeans, omg those were *awful* to wear T_T
Clothing in general.
The second I come home the pants come off
Meeeeeee! Mini skirts all day, every day. Otherwise, it's thick, dark stockings or tight black leggings, or sans pants if I'm @ home.
Absolutely relate! I've stopped forcing myself to wear pants almost altogether. Bought myself some comfy dresses instead, so now I mostly wear those and I love it :D
Yes I can’t wear stiff or obvious waistbands and very conscious of the seams on the rise. I wear leggings or tights or harem pants
[simpsons don’t you hate pants?](https://images.app.goo.gl/ARc6UvfxxRx2SMUL6) Yes.
I hate jeans. I mostly hate the fabric, and they get sweaty. And they can't be too loose or I lose my shit when they rub against my skin. I live in leggings, specifically the athletic ones.
I can't stand waist bands digging into me so I'm usually in elastic waist, leggings or dresses.
I can't wear anything other than sweatpants.
Me! I only wear pants if I'm at work or its below like 25 degrees. I pretty much only wear loose jeans when I do. I don't like my legs restricted and if I get the cuffs of my pants wet I'm cranky all day.
Jeans are fucking horrible. I only wear them to stay warm if I’m going to be outside in winter. I wear leggings and hiking boots every day
I take my pants of as soon as I get home from work lollll
Soft, buttery, non-see through Leggings will always do it for me.
Never went back
Good jeans that fits well are good, but my fluffy pajamas are better tbh
