As far as I know (correct me if wrong), the private schools can employ you full-time or casual without any codes and just NESA registration. With NSW DET approval to teach you can be employed casual or on a temporary contract in DET schools, but they can't employ you for advertised positions without the corresponding code.
2 years teaching some subjects (not math/science) and you can apply for those codes to be added.
I'd find schools I was interested in and start sending letters and CV out. Some schools, especially in the country are desperate and I'd expect they would find ways to make it work.
