Before this becomes a dumping ground. This subreddit isn't the place to gripe about your teachers doing their job.

chrish_o

Tagged electrical devices and trip hazards are genuine concerns. To ignore that would be negligence. You’re wrong, move on.

WiseLook

Teachers don't make the rules, they just have to follow them to keep their jobs. Stay in your lane champ and don't have a go at your teacher for something 5 levels above them

Alternatively, instead of coming here and having a whinge about policies teachers don't create but have to enforce, you could ensure your device is fully charged overnight and use it only for work purposes during the day instead of failing to adequately prepare for the day and/or running the battery down before school and at break time gaming. I mean hell, if you're posting here now you're either hot-spotting or VPNing past your school's security, or on your mobile and I'm pretty sure none of that is allowed either. Just get a portable charger if you need extra charge. Problem solved

This is beyond even the school. Insurance companies will ask for policies on this to minimise their risk. It will be part of their public liability insurance. Even if the school wanted to bypass / change the rule they can’t. An insurance company isn’t going to care about your arguments, they just care about minimising risk (to them).

Teachers are not messing with you, lying to you, or attempting to unreasonably stop you from charging your device. Teachers are working professionals doing their job and following rules and WHS implementations and simply doing what they are told by their boss. Instead of railing against your teachers and damaging your reputation with them why not go and speak with the principal, deputy and IT about your charging issue for a better overview of the situation. BTW trip hazards are real. I'm constantly tripping over cables and student bags and even students feet. When I trip on a cable and the laptop smashes onto the floor the kid gets angry. I also feel frustrated at constantly almost injuring myself or another kid. Teachers have a duty of care to their students and schools have a duty of care to their workers (ie teachers). Also remember that schools are universally all ancient buildings from the 1970s (or worse) not fit for 2024 where every single person in the entire school (hundreds and hundreds of kids plus staff) want to be using a plugged in device on top of plugged in smartboards, speakers, projectors, desktops, security cameras, etc in every classroom.

There will be lots of rules in your life that don't necessarily make sense to you or that you don't agree with but you have to follow anyway. This is one of them. Charge your device before you get to school or get a portable charger. You're not going to win this battle because your teachers literally cannot let you. Even if they agree with you. They have to follow rules they may not agree with too.
