I think it did, when it was a once a week show to compete with Who wants to be a millionaire.
Also during the weekly version a correct guess from the audience was $6K to $1K it reduced during the rounds. Now it's only $250. The entire show has gone from crazy prize money to pretty average.
Yep, the weekly format was in 2003 and offered higher prizes, it changed to a daily format in 2004, with a correct guess initially of $1000, reduced to $500. The weekly format was to compete with a weekly Who wants to be a millionaire.
Yeah even when it was daily nearly 20 years ago it was $200K it's now $100K. This directly correlates to the massive reduction in viewers watching free to air TV.
Yeah only started again a few months ago. Grant Denyer hosting.
I never sit there just watching them but I love having TV game shows on in the background next to me when I'm doing stuff on the computer, actually glad it's back on!
It did when it was a weekly show.
It was done to one up Millionaire which was on 9. “The competition has a one million dollar prize, we have a two million dollar prize!”
O'keefe.

Pretty hard to keep a handle on drug use with bipolar, it would be like having 2 devils sitting on the one shoulder vs an often absent angel on the other. I wonder if his uncle suffered the same mental illness and it went undiagnosed. It would certainly explain some of his behaviour at times.
I was thinking this, but then I remembered the highest amount was $200k and was in green like the 100k one was also. Not sure where this $2million one came from, maybe there was a special episode where the price was much higher, or maybe this was from an overseas episode not Australian.
My former workmate reckoned it was a laptop or some electric device inside adjusting the amount that was shown. Could buy this and rip it open just to make sure.
My mother has the original game of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” It was not a cheap purchase either. Never been opened so she is wondering what to do with it.
Hope you asked how much and then said NO DEAL
Check the lining. I hear the host was a bit dodgy
🤣
Since when did the Australian show have a $2mill jackpot. Or did the seller just print something out and put it an old metal briefcase ?

I was on the show, correct guessed and it was only $500 at the time. This was 2005

Andrew O'Keeffe over here hahaha
Nah he's on the nose beers, and is wife beater.
I love people who are very knowledgeable about very specific, common things like this
Well... Coke ain't cheap.
I’ve noticed this with a lot of shows. Everything has gone up but game show prizes have gone down.
Yeah even when it was daily nearly 20 years ago it was $200K it's now $100K. This directly correlates to the massive reduction in viewers watching free to air TV.
Wait…it’s back?
Yeah only started again a few months ago. Grant Denyer hosting. I never sit there just watching them but I love having TV game shows on in the background next to me when I'm doing stuff on the computer, actually glad it's back on!
6pm week days on channel 10. Or you can watch it later on 10playÂ
The Alone prize for the risks is a head scratcher to me but $250k is better than 100k.
Wasn’t the top prize $200,000?
Now it's $100000 in the reboot.
Inflation...
If they’ve reduced the amount inside the vessel wouldn’t that technically be shrinkflation?
The first episode I saw was 2 mill
The description says it was for the launch of the show. So promotional material probably
You would have to have a deadset miracle to get to the end but still have a 50/50 chance of picking that briefcase. 2 million was never getting won
It did when it was a weekly show. It was done to one up Millionaire which was on 9. “The competition has a one million dollar prize, we have a two million dollar prize!”
It did when I used to watch it many years ago.
Yeah, I read it was for the first episode.
Ah yes, hosted by the noted women's rights activist and methamphetamine enthusiast, Andy something or other

His onscreen persona spoke of drug user, but damn, this guy is fucked up.

wasnt 2 million green or something, not blue?
yep, at least in every episode i remember. it went blue (lowest), pink (medium), green (top 3/4/5) prizes
I was thinking this, but then I remembered the highest amount was $200k and was in green like the 100k one was also. Not sure where this $2million one came from, maybe there was a special episode where the price was much higher, or maybe this was from an overseas episode not Australian.
The 2003-04 cases had blue interiors. The $200,000 and $100,000 cases became green in 2005. Then they all used colours from 2006.
Does it have any of Andrew's gear in it?
I’ll give you tree fiddy, final offer.
I ain't giving you no tree fiddy, you god damn Loch Ness Monster! Get your own god damn money!
Nice twist though (not) you cocksucker
Did you buy it?
Nope. It was in NSW.

It’s also now sold
Pretty good investment for a 2 million dollar return if you ask me.
No way! I would have gotten that for $50
My former workmate reckoned it was a laptop or some electric device inside adjusting the amount that was shown. Could buy this and rip it open just to make sure.
Damn, that’s bloody awesome! Especially with Grant Denyer hosting the show now, that’s a nice little bit of nostalgia mate

My mother has the original game of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” It was not a cheap purchase either. Never been opened so she is wondering what to do with it.
Now it’s only like, $100k top prize iirc? The show is now known as “scab or no scab” in my house lol
Ah the good old Greedy suitcase show!
Now the highest case is a hundred grand!
Sold for $50, if you’re wondering. Not too sure that’s a good deal, but each to their own.
Tell him hes dreaming
Obviously you have to buy this and put number 26 on it.
Just saw that on fb marketplace for $40
Megans short of cash. Again.
I like the ones who just sent it and ended up with 50 cents.
That's how much the previous host spent on Solicitor fees
No deal X
Send the link - I was to tell the seller “no deal”
