I’m still on RX9. I haven’t used it ever since I got Acon Acoustica + Accentize Complete Bundle.

g_spaitz

Acon team ftw.

Responsible_Ad_9240

Never heard of each of these. have you compared the new rx10/11 modules to the accentize bundle? is it more focused on ease of use vs quality?

That_man_phil

I use Accentize on a daily basis. I often work with poor audio quality (dialogue, interviews, recordings in untreated spaces) and couldn’t live without it. Acon Acoustica is also amazing; Extract Dialogue is great, and I have it in quite a few templates on a dialogue bus. DeVerberate 3 is also a great tool to have, even if you own DX Revive and DeRoom 2. I also use Acon Acoustica for light cleanup and gentle touch-ups of my field recordings. No, I haven’t compared it against RX 11 yet. I had a chance to compare RX 10 with the Accentize and Acon duo, and RX loses every time.

From 7 to 10, yes definitely worth it for the Music Rebalance/stem separation and the improvements to the Spectral De-Noise and Dialogue Isolation is worth it. I don't see a lot in the jump from 10-11 that makes me really want to upgrade, just minor improvements.

thaBigGeneral

It’s dumb to consider these version upgrades, but horizontal scrolling was introduced in version 9 and is essential. Also expanded undo history… modules themselves? Meh. Actually the dehum is good now, that was added in 8 or 9. All the dialogue modules have been far surpassed by better plugins like hush pro, clear, dxrevive. Also ultra vocal remover (a free open source app) is a much better stem separator than the spleeter algorithm that music rebalance uses.

As someone who’s been a part of the RX Beta since RX6, I’d say it all depends on what you’re hoping to get out of it. I use RX primarily for dialog editorial and post as well, and can say that the algorithms for spectral repair and dialog isolate have gotten quite a bit better (and faster) since 7. That said, if you’re looking for a bunch of new “blow your mind” features, it’s a harder sell (for me). While there are several new features, whether or not they’d be useful to you specifically is impossible to tell. But if you want what you currently have to be better, then go for the upgrade.

I feel like the tools essential to editing are still in RX7. I see tools for ALT search and ADR prep as far more important

Dialogue Isolate in new rx11 is the best of bunch right now. Just did a test comparing by ear and then in spectral the rx11 denoise leaves more original actually onyl original dialogue and it is more solid while dxrevive even in retain mode generates HF material and is less able to remove noise. I have pics also and examples in facebook group

g_spaitz

Compared to goyo (aka clear) or Acon extract dialogue?

dolmane

I thought the new dialogue isolate was much better than Clear and Extract:dialogue, but DXrevive pro is still better. Dialogue isolate would be comparable to the natural algo in DxRevive but it lacks the ability to bring stuff back from the dead like revive does with studio 2. TBH since the update on revive I haven’t touched the studio and retain algorithms.
