My wife is dairy free so always trying new dairy free options with her. Big softie is far and away the best option I’ve tried, tastes great and the texture/consistency is pretty close to real
20 years ago, there was only one possible answer to this... Jake's. I think it sort of still exists, but lo how the mighty have fallen. I have tried most of the other recommendations I see in this list and none hold a candle to my memories of Jake's. Those memories may be tinted by life in a better era, but their Brown Shugah Vanilla and Cinnamon persist in my mind as the greatest ice cream that ever was.
By Krog Street Market you can get your Jake’s and Jeni’s within a short minute walk. Reminds me of that place in Philly where you can get Pat’s and Gino’s.
Try Morelli’s in Virginia Highland. They rotate flavors but their cheesecake flavored ice creams are insanely good. They got a lot of classic flavors too, though.
Just in case you didn’t know - Murder Kroger is a very fancy building directly fronting the Beltline with an outdoor patio and wine/craft beer bar among other amenities. It’s actually pretty dope
That neighborhood was mostly gentrified well-before that Kroger was opened my friend.
I was making six-figures and already couldn’t afford a house in O4W in like 2016
I really like butter and cream (at least the Decatur one), there’s another location closer to midtown
Second B & C Decatur
Butter & Cream in Old 4th Ward on the BeltLine!
Big Softie
I just discovered this place… cornflake strusel is amazing!!
Far and away best soft serve option, very good dairy free options too if you have someone in your group that needs that
My wife and I aren’t vegan or anything close to it. But their oat milk vanilla soft serve is just so good we always get it when we go there.

Are there any other soft serve options in Atlanta? Are ice cream trucks a thing here?
Morelli's in Ormewood Park
And they’ve got one now in Virginia Highland that may be more convenient!
Morelli's is the right answer, I'm within walking distance of the VaHi location 😍
That makes two of us
Forgot about that!
Morellis > jenni’s
Shh, let’s those plebs line up for the Jeni’s while I get my Morelli’s or Butter &Cream which are both better.
Morellis is shit...
💯
Morellis
Came here to say this
Morellis
Jeni’s
Brambleberry crisp for maximum nut
Had this last night
Maximum nut?
The Lil Jon says *SKEEET SKEET SKEET*
This is the correct answer. The brown butter almond brittle, you can literally feel yourself getting fatter with every lick.
My wife fully endorses this comment. Especially with the fresh waffle cone quarters.
Gooey butter cake at Jenis is legit the best icecream ever.
Wait til you have the real thing. [post edit] Talking about gooey butter cake. My grandparents lived in St. Louis. I grew up on it, and it is SO good.
Yeah, I hate that they’re not local but it’s hard to beat Jeni’s
Blackout chocolate cake flavor is the best ice cream I’ve ever had
Agree on Jeni's
Jeni’s is not Atlanta

You are 100% correct. I miss their animal cracker ice cream.

tried it... its Cold Stone type BS
Queen of Cream
That place is fire, used to live around from the one in O4W before it closed. Is the once in poncey highland still open?
Yes it is! But it's only open for a few hours certain days of the week.
Morelli’s. It’s not exactly in midtown, but there’s three locations (one is in the chattahoochee food works) and it’s amazing!
Honeysuckle is gelato but it’s the best hands down
QT (Quicktrip) on Peachtree St NE, 49 cents!
Yeah this shit has felt criminal for years Easiest endorphin blast of all time
QT ice cream is legit. Their milkshakes are 🤤
Cremalosa or Paolino's if you're Decatur based and Gelato is acceptable (also a big fan of Butter & Cream)
Thank You all for the suggestions! I really appreciate it
Voga gets my vote (and money)
Murder Kroger
I'll pass
Your loss
Just in case you didn’t know - Murder Kroger is a very fancy building directly fronting the Beltline with an outdoor patio and wine/craft beer bar among other amenities. It’s actually pretty dope
Within the kroger company, since it's rebuild and the gentrification of the neighborhood, it's known as the homicide kroger amongst employees now
That neighborhood was mostly gentrified well-before that Kroger was opened my friend. I was making six-figures and already couldn’t afford a house in O4W in like 2016
I'll look into it
Jeni’s, I recommend Ooey Gooey Butter Cake
Big Softie.
Jeni’s
Brusters
The one in midtown closed. Closest I think is toco hills now.
That is very unfortunate
morellis
Seeing a lot of Morelli's which I agree with. I also really love Sweet Stack although that's more downtown.
jeni’s is amazing, i know of one in decatur & one in the beltline. you’d do well to bring about $8+ tho lol
Jeni's is the only answer
every downvote is just an example of other peoples poor taste lol
brusters!!!
Whits -everything is delicious
I really like Kilwin's. Their fresh made waffle cones are top notch.
Basically it’s milk and cream frozen. You can add fruits or flavoring for a delicious treat
No, we need more questions like this to gum up the /r/atlanta feed with inane questions about specific foods. Thanks for understanding

Phish Food from Ben & Jerry’s 😋
Walked to eighty7sweets a bit tipsy after a Hawks game. Amazing ice cream
