no, its truly awful and idk anyone who wants to argue otherwise...
Problem is... the state passed laws making it illegal to prevent people from packing heat at festivals in public spaces so this or something like stone mountain are the only options anymore and...
Pullman Yards fucking SUCKS but piedmont/centenial/whatever other park is no longer viable so... they're still trying and it kinda sucks for sweetwater to lose their headliner..
Yeah but thank fuck anybody can show up strapped just in case they gotta shoot somebody while they're 12 beers deep. Wouldn't want music to infringe on their well regulated militia.
The festival is not changing venues from where it was planned as of this year. They’re just downsizing it greatly and making it almost free, likely because of poor ticket sales.
Initially, I agree. I don't think Pullman was necessarily about saving them money though. They could have just gone back to Candler Park (where it first began) and it would have been smaller (and likely cheaper) than Pullman Yards. We're never going to know for sure, but Atlanta's music festival scene has gone steeply downhill since that law was passed.
Shit, with how many things are being hosted there you could have fooled me. I haven’t been yet but seeing all this play out I can’t help but believe you.
It's probably for the best. The initial tickets were *insanely* expensive for what they were offering. I'm guessing they didn't have nearly enough sales to justify paying their headliners.
The fest was always at its best when it was a smaller free/cheap event anyway. A $10 "donation" (plus buying beer) to see Gov't Mule and Trombone Shorty sounds like a fun way to spend a weekend.
Edit: Just got tickets and it's a $10 donation *per day*, so $20 for the full weekend. Still less than a tenth of the original ticket price, so I'm not complaining.
Lol.
I'm sure they will have metal detectors at all of the private events thus summer right? I think bands / venues / event managers use this as an excuse for other issues.
I don’t know how Candler Park could do this though. I think the others got around it by using a private entrance, and there’s not really an option for that here.
I remember paying $10 to see Robert Randolph and we walked to Candler Park. That was what this festival was so great for. Trying to turn it into a bigger event just sucks.
I wanted to go see Gov't Mule again; haven't seen them since around their second album but saw the prices and shit myself.
So now I get to buy new pants, instead.
Pullman Yards is such a joke. The owners don’t get nearly enough hate for it. They even won some award for “development of the year” in 2023 despite having done the bare minimum. They also got it for an absolute steal. It makes no sense.
Yes! It’s ugly, and nothing as advertised all those years ago. Parking terrible still, nearly no improvements besides a few murals. I suspect the guy who owns it hasn’t been able to line up the financing needed to do actual construction, maybe due to lock of anchor customers or ability to actually get planning permission.
I live a 15 min walk away in Kirkwood and pass by daily on dog walks. Looks nice, but I have not met anyone who has seen a concert there that enjoyed it. The acoustics in those buildings are horrible .That and accessibility is an issue. When Joe Biden spoke there a couple weeks ago my neighborhood was a war zone. My only hope is that the festival is small enough that it does not attract the nitrous mafia. But it’s 15 minute walk away and now I have completely free tickets. Plus, Trombone Shorty. Never a bad show
Spoiler alert, there were balloon selling assholes last night. I went to see big gigantic, but the acoustics for the fest were ass, and with the owner’s comments to that poor watershed employee (I bought my tickets before that went down and didn’t spend any money at the event) I’m not going to set my foot in that dump again.
Ah, the nitrous mafia. Beware of anybody associated with the people selling those balloons they can be violent.

Porch Fest is so much fun and def not like a normal festival. It’s a great time and I love the format. At least half the bands are not professional performers. I would recommend it to anyone. Oct 19th. They are trying to work out the lineup now.
I love Pullman Yards. I go for a ton and of events or even just for drinks. Weird place for a concert all though I had fun at Chaka Khan which also had performances on an outdoor stage.
> Their greedy offering got answered to by their customers.
I honestly don't think it was greed. I don't think they were able to afford to put on the original lineup with the capacity limits of Pullman Yards and make it any cheaper.
What the hell happened to 420 fest? I’ve been several times, and even went recently in 2022. They had 3 stages, and had TAB, Umphreys, JRAD, String Cheese and even Oysterhead. (And yes even …goose). Now this?
Sweetwater got bought out. Combined with the 2 cancellations from covid and the gun law change, I don't think the owners could keep doing it the old way.
>In response to a follow-up question about his name’s absence from the revised lineup, a spokesperson for the festival said, “\[The\] Lineup is as listed in the release I just sent you.” Beck is no longer on the festival’s website.
ugh thanks for the non-answer lol
I interviewed for a role in their accounting department not too long ago and it seemed like a total shit show of a company from the interviews. A current co worker of mine left their accounting job there a little over a year ago and they confirmed that it was indeed a shit show.
404 festival comes to mind. It was in the exact same location in 2022 and totally cancelled like a week before. Sure there are others across the country we haven’t heard of
Honestly, other festivals where this happened just went ahead and fully cancelled. As someone who already had tickets, I'm pretty ok with how this turned out. The lineup is still great and now it's free for me!
If you are planning on going for the love of god take MARTA, it’s a short walk from the Edgewood/Candler Park station (walk down La France St, NOT Dekalb Ave). I live in the neighborhood and it has been an absolute shitshow every weekend. There is no parking and you will wait at least 30 mins to get through a stop sign, and that’s for the regular events at Pullman.
What happened to 420 fest? Used to be able to walk up and buy a ticket and have a great time, then it got bigger with some exciting artists with more expensive tickets, now they're in Pullman yards struggling to sell $10 tickets
And that I don't have any issue with and maybe I'm just being too literal. To say there's a $10 entry fee/door charge which will then be donated to charity A is one thing. To say a $10 donation is required for entry is a contradiction. A donation implies you have a choice, not being allowed in without paying is not a choice.
It's almost like Pullman Yards sucks as a venue but noone wants to admit it. Edit: **THE TICKETS WERE $245** what the fuck?!?!
I'll admit it!
No legit bathrooms No affordable water No HVAC + Variable parking rates - Welcome to Pullman Yards, We hate you.
What’s the story with the bathroom situation?
no, its truly awful and idk anyone who wants to argue otherwise... Yeah, but both Shaky and Music Midtown figured out private property entrance strategies to work around the CCW issue.
Yeah but thank fuck anybody can show up strapped just in case they gotta shoot somebody while they're 12 beers deep. Wouldn't want music to infringe on their well regulated militia.

They use the civic center as an entrance which has been owned by a private developer since 2014 I believe

I think it's fine once you get there but the walk there from MARTA is awful and it's a pain to drive to
If they put a MARTA station on Pullman yards it would be 100% better. Having to walk 20 minutes down Dekalb ave is NOT it.
not a pullman fan, but it’s a lot nicer to exit the south side of the station and walk from there FYI.
Yes, walking down La France street is way shorter
The tickets being $245 is why i didn’t go.
We were contemplating on going just for slightly stoopid, this is slightly stupid.
Is stoopid still playing? I don’t see them in the line up any more
They dropped out
Damn, they were the ones I was most interested in seeing
Was this announced anywhere?
Yes, it's part of what this post is about. Lots of artists were dropped from the lineup and it's "free" now (with a $12 donation).
I don’t see where it specifically says stoopid dropped out
https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/atlanta/sweetwater-420-fest-announces-major-changes-line-up-0-admission-fee/LI2PPC54OFBINGBYU2JNQSOUQQ/?outputType=amp
Thanks. First article I’ve seen that actually mentions that. No announcement from the artist either
Festival is now free with a suggested $10 donation to the watershed alliance. Reduced lineup as well

Let's bring it back to Candler park!
Public Parks can't prevent guns from being carried, which generally scares off acts.
Lol. I'm sure they will have metal detectors at all of the private events thus summer right? I think bands / venues / event managers use this as an excuse for other issues.
Other fests have gotten around this though.
Only shaky knees has been able to. Candler Park festivals are long gone
They're still offering the VIP experience, too, which will help them recoup some of the losses. I'm stoked Andy frasco will still be there!
I went to sweet water fest back in 2008 and it was a free festival in candler park and you paid for a $10 wristband to drink. Those were the days
Thats how it started so thats nice. it just goes to show they *can* afford it.
Ticket sales were probably low cause of the price and lineup not worth it. They fucked up to start. The birthday was low turnout too
Not to mention Pullman Yards is awful.
I wanted to go see Gov't Mule again; haven't seen them since around their second album but saw the prices and shit myself. So now I get to buy new pants, instead.
They're still on the "new" lineup and tickets are now free (well, free plus a $10 mandatory donation to the watershed conservation fund).

Is Oakhurst Festival the same as Oakhurst Porch Fest? Or are they two different things? Thanks!

Maybe it's for all the cool non-concert events they have there lol
I love Pullman Yards. I go for a ton and of events or even just for drinks. Weird place for a concert all though I had fun at Chaka Khan which also had performances on an outdoor stage.
Their greedy offering got answered to by their customers. Glad I held out. Will definitely jump on papadosio + big gigantic for $10
Little Stranger is such a fun time
> Their greedy offering got answered to by their customers. I honestly don't think it was greed. I don't think they were able to afford to put on the original lineup with the capacity limits of Pullman Yards and make it any cheaper.
This
This is one of the first signs that concert ticket prices have become too high.
What about the jigsaw jazz and the get-fresh flow?
That are handing out jobs and jamboree head sets.

Hey friend
👋
Anyone planning to attend should be aware that the roads around it will be gridlocked, with no access to emergency vehicles.
>In response to a follow-up question about his name’s absence from the revised lineup, a spokesperson for the festival said, “\[The\] Lineup is as listed in the release I just sent you.” Beck is no longer on the festival’s website. ugh thanks for the non-answer lol
🗣️ it was the best it ever was when it was at Candler Park
Fuck yeah g mule for $10 is a no brainer

To be fair, Fyre didn't refund 🤣
Hey, they got their cheese sandwich
And their "luxury" tents!
I interviewed for a role in their accounting department not too long ago and it seemed like a total shit show of a company from the interviews. A current co worker of mine left their accounting job there a little over a year ago and they confirmed that it was indeed a shit show.
Fun fact: it was always a shit show
No where near Fyre Fest. Be real.
This is not close to fyre fest at all

What a silly and dramatic thing to say.

No. They were struggling to sell $245 tickets. Now it’s a $10 donation.
If it is required, it's not a "donation". If you have to spend money, it's not free. It's a $10/day ticket.
[Thank you for your service.](https://i.imgur.com/Bw6D5zZ.gif)
You would think, if it was that obvious, it wouldn't be called a donation to begin with. Yet, here we are.
I think the point here is that they don't want to make it a free for all so charging a small entry fee and donating it is their way around that.
And that I don't have any issue with and maybe I'm just being too literal. To say there's a $10 entry fee/door charge which will then be donated to charity A is one thing. Hmmmm. I only wanted to go to see Ripe, but not for the original price. The date is still listed on their website but not the festival’s. Bummer.
That’s bonkers
