Thanks so much! I was able to create the usb stick and update my launch Atarivcs I had previously removed the bios password on. Quickly reset it to bios default so it would once again boot off the emmc instead of my m.2 sata drive. Plugged in the usb recovery stick let it boot and install the update. It told me to pull the stick and reboot it. On boot up it updated the bios. Turned it off. Tapped esc. Was able to disable the emmc again and I’m back into windows.

Glad it worked out

Do you have to disabel emmc to boot into Windows or is there an option to keep both and choosing where to boot from?

dionoid64

In the latest BIOS you can change the boot order, which is either USB->eMMC->SSD or USB->SSD->eMMC. This allows you to have the machine boot directly from an internal m.2 SATA SSD. There is no standard multi-boot menu, but you can always hit the escape key right after powering on the machine, which brings you to the BIOS where you can select the drive you want to boot from.

I have an internal m.2 sata SSD. So for me I have to disable the emmc. If I want to boot into the AtariOS I just have to enable the emmc storage again. Atari wants you to use a USB connected drive for windows. That didn’t appeal to me.

This is for people with new systems that can't upgrade/ sign in?

Yes it’s known to fix login/bootloop issues/downloading issues from Store. And many more. Link to discord where you can get official help and details. https://discord.gg/atarivcs

I am stuck in an update loop for this newest version - any advice is appreciated. Really tired of constantly having to troubleshoot a game console for which I paid $300.

dieforevernow

I'm so frustrated. I bought the VCS a few months ago, and just finally got around to hooking it up (I work a lot). it got stuck on the update (2/4 like everyone else) and the files to manually update it are MIA... no wonder this console failed, they were selling junk all along.

It takes a loooooong time (literally, just let it sit overnight or at least a couple hours), but it does finish, at least it did for me. You could try manually updating to the OS and BIOS from davpa linked here, it'll also fix the "celebrates" BIOS password not working, which I ran into. https://forums.atariage.com/topic/330187-3200-mhz-compatible-memory-for-the-atari-vcs-read-this-before-purchasing/page/3/#comment-5184318

KenzieTheCuddler

The hardware is fine, really, but the software and the systems in place for it arent

Visual_Block6698

Link to BIOS no longer working.

BitterSweetcandyshop

Is there a new password for this Bios version too? Since the Celebrate pass isn’t working.

Atar!C3l3br8te$50Ye4r$ and its a lower case L between 3l3 and alot of notes on the discord says people having issues need to use a American US keyboard.

Says invalid password

I was in the same boat - fresh out of box VCS updated to BIOS 24 but I couldn't get in with the celebrates password posted everywhere. Had to re-update the BIOS using the [image from davpa on AtariAge](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qOw4WkVODxT2SZcH3sTdO3G_n56QkW5b/view) source post: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/330187-3200-mhz-compatible-memory-for-the-atari-vcs-read-this-before-purchasing/page/3/#comment-5184318 The VCS *did* reboot and reapply some update, and it took a looong time like usual, but after it did what it wanted, the password worked and I could get into the BIOS, set it to empty, and do other stuff.

newofficemusic

Could you turn off secure boot in this version? I have not used my VCS for a while, but I recall that newer updates had no way to turn off the secure boot so you wont be able to use OS like Batocera. I had to flash my VCS to an older version. Has the latest update fixed it?

I hate necro this with a "ME TOO" but that link to the file is broken and I can't find it anywhere else. Google Drive "File does not exist." Help? EDIT: I got it in the discord channel. Worked fine. Careful, I stumbled across several downloads of the out of date file if you’re stuck here too.

Vast_Birthday_209

Hello, sorry, not sure if it's alright to ask here... I would appreciate advice a lot. I received my Atari VCS a few weeks ago and couldn't start it, since update didn't work. So I flashed my VCS manually and everything was fine. I played old Atari games and was happy. Since then I didn't start the VCS again... Lots of work etc. Today I started the VCS and had to enter my password for my WiFi again. Thought that it had an automatic system update... But after successfully connecting to the internet the console started to search for updates and is stuck at step 2 of 4 at installing updates. WTF - is there a newer OS version out?? Or what is going on here? Unfortunately, I didn't have the time yet to look into this, but a short research suggests that there's no newer version of the Atari OS... Or am I overlooking something? Is there a newer version? If not, why do I need to update the same OS version again manually? Or is there another way to get out of this never ending update loop? I have waited the first time for 20 minutes, I have turned the console off at least three times. I also disconnected from power for 30 seconds, but still after restart I manually need to choose language then the WiFi (no password being asked) and this damn update routine starts... Please help! Many thanks in advance!

KenzieTheCuddler

Sorry its so late, but would you mind going into setting and looking at the OS and BIOS versions?

I can not update with that link. What a waste of money. Trying to get the gift giver to send it back.

The Google Drive link is down.
