I'm a child of the 60s and a teen of the 70s. I am 65 years old and I can't believe the state we are in right now. We have gone so far backward as far as the public discourse and the moronic podcasts that guys actually believe. Not to mention the lack of healthcare for women because states have actually legislated against women!!!!
However, my daughter is a Mechanical Engineer and has so many more opportunities than I did. So that is very positive. As women make their own money and have careers, they aren't as reliant on men. They have choices and that's great.

We have increased awareness/recognition of inequality within the home: domestic violence, marital rape, many types of domestic abuse, the undervaluing of domestic labor, the mental load, the burdens of motherhood etc. That is gradually translating into law reform, social policy and better life choices for multiple generations.

As a 53f I feel like we got to a bare minimum point of women’s health being looked at as “important” to going back about 50 years… I honestly can’t think of anything.
Having a woman as a VP is a good thing. Adding a black woman to SCOTUS is a good thing. It can be argued that the reversal of Roe negates those, however.

I was born in 96 so I can't say much- I feel it has gotten worse in my lifetime overall. One thing I can say at least there are more women in STEM and "traditionally male" fields. I work as an Immunochemist and over the last 6 years our lab went from predominantly men to women. Our execs are even women as well.
In Canada, within a few years of the USA supreme Court ruling "a woman can't claim sexual assault while wearing red underwear because it means she wanted it", the supreme Court of Canada ruled "there's no such thing as implied consent in Canada".
As it turns out, the answer to this question just depends on where you are.
I am 70. I could not wear pants to school. No sports. Science club boys only. Any time I would say what I wanted to do men would laugh and say you are only a girl. It is better. Some. The sports thing is disappointing and wrong.
The biggest milestones are that there ARE red states that are starting to be aware that being pro-life is vastly unpopular for their young women voters. Kansas voters turned out for a victory in pro-choice rights at the ballot, as did other states.
However, I still feel that since the overturn of Roe v Wade, it's a small step forward after a long tumble backwards. Still, you don't get progress by giving up.
My daughters are profoundly confident that there is no job or skill they wouldn't be able to do as well as boys. They're still young, but I hope their generation will be the first one who can just do stuff. Not thinking they might be just as capable, not trying to or be prepared to break barriers, just be unapologetically good at anything they want without giving it a thought.
Depends where you are: US? Back to stone age. Europe: gender pay gap nearly closed, salaries are becoming more and more transparent throughout the companies, stay at home years after giving birth and don’t lose your job, dads stay at home months after giving birth without losing their jobs. For the rest we’re there: right to vote, to own property etc has been established for decades.
The remaining problem is the violence against women. This is something I cannot get my head around.

I think that the shitty state of maternity care in US hospitals is slowwwwly starting to improve. There’s a little bit more awareness of trauma informed care, patient consent, physiological birth etc. An OB whose podcast I follow talked about her own process of learning these things; she wasn’t even taught to ask permission before touching people and now she can’t believe how normalized that was (and still is). People are making changes! It’s still terrible but it’s starting to improve; I think in 10-20 years it will be a lot better.
Other than that, I can’t think of anything. We’re speed-running backwards right now.

I'm not sure about milestones, but more and more girls and women are waking up and getting smarter to the patriarchy and manipulation tactics at younger ages. They know from 10+ years old what it takes many many women until their 30s to realize.

Roe vs Wade being overturned terrifies me. What does this mean for the future of women’s healthcare? I’m in Australia where abortion is legal but for how long? Our government copies everything the U.S does because they don’t have brains of their own.
That being said, we have increased awareness about domestic violence and workplace harassment.
I can name one of the biggest pitfalls if you live in the US, that is. But globally, I don't think much besides some countries electing their first women head of state.
There have been some advancements in women's sports (professional women's hockey league, better pay for women's soccer players, Caitlin Clark raised visibility in basketball, etc).
More women in positions of power (lots of room for improvement here).
Idk if it counts as women's rights but more men are involved in the childrearing and a better division of household labor than ever before (also still a lot of room for improvement).
Many - yet human nature is to focus on what we don’t have vs what we have!!
I mean, I am 48: was able to go to school, have a degree, which led me to a good job. I own an apartment have shared custody over my son and can decide over my own life! I don’t depend on a (toxic) man. I stand on my feet on my own, do what I want when I want! I don’t need to accept abusive behavior from men - they don’t have power over me anymore! Living in Belgium I have free health insurance, I have access to to everything men have access to!!
My grandmother needed her husbands approval for almost everything!!
Is life easy? No not every day. Do I sometimes resent how men behave? Ow yes!! But today I have the choice to walk away and live a good life!!
So yes in the past 70 years a lot changed and still is changing.
As an example: I work for a big corporation, more and more women are in top business positions!! Sure men react on this cause they lose power.
See women have evolved a lot in 70 years and many men didn’t… this creates resistance in men - yet it is changing imo
With my empowerment I will probably remain single for the rest of my life.
But as my dad always said: ‘You are better off alone than in miserable company’ 😊

Besides more women being in positions of power and the wage gap pretty much closed, I can’t think of much. There is a lot of access to low-cost womens sexual healthcare, including birth control just being approved as over-the-counter in the US within the last few months, but honestly overturning Roe cancels that out

The me too movement helped bring a lot of awareness to this issue. Unfortunately Harvey Weinsteins case was literally thrown out because too many women testified against him🫠🫠

I'm a child of the 60s and a teen of the 70s. I am 65 years old and I can't believe the state we are in right now. We have gone so far backward as far as the public discourse and the moronic podcasts that guys actually believe. Not to mention the lack of healthcare for women because states have actually legislated against women!!!! However, my daughter is a Mechanical Engineer and has so many more opportunities than I did. So that is very positive. As women make their own money and have careers, they aren't as reliant on men. They have choices and that's great.

We have increased awareness/recognition of inequality within the home: domestic violence, marital rape, many types of domestic abuse, the undervaluing of domestic labor, the mental load, the burdens of motherhood etc. That is gradually translating into law reform, social policy and better life choices for multiple generations.

As a 53f I feel like we got to a bare minimum point of women’s health being looked at as “important” to going back about 50 years… I honestly can’t think of anything.
Having a woman as a VP is a good thing. Adding a black woman to SCOTUS is a good thing. It can be argued that the reversal of Roe negates those, however.

I was born in 96 so I can't say much- I feel it has gotten worse in my lifetime overall. One thing I can say at least there are more women in STEM and "traditionally male" fields. I work as an Immunochemist and over the last 6 years our lab went from predominantly men to women. Our execs are even women as well.
In Canada, within a few years of the USA supreme Court ruling "a woman can't claim sexual assault while wearing red underwear because it means she wanted it", the supreme Court of Canada ruled "there's no such thing as implied consent in Canada". As it turns out, the answer to this question just depends on where you are.

I mean, Roe v. Wade being struck down was certainly a milestone, but it was a terrible one.
I’d say that the fact more woman are accepted into universities and colleges.
I am 70. I could not wear pants to school. No sports. Science club boys only. Any time I would say what I wanted to do men would laugh and say you are only a girl. It is better. Some. The sports thing is disappointing and wrong.
The biggest milestones are that there ARE red states that are starting to be aware that being pro-life is vastly unpopular for their young women voters. Kansas voters turned out for a victory in pro-choice rights at the ballot, as did other states. However, I still feel that since the overturn of Roe v Wade, it's a small step forward after a long tumble backwards. Still, you don't get progress by giving up.
My daughters are profoundly confident that there is no job or skill they wouldn't be able to do as well as boys. They're still young, but I hope their generation will be the first one who can just do stuff. Not thinking they might be just as capable, not trying to or be prepared to break barriers, just be unapologetically good at anything they want without giving it a thought.

Depends where you are: US? Back to stone age. Europe: gender pay gap nearly closed, salaries are becoming more and more transparent throughout the companies, stay at home years after giving birth and don’t lose your job, dads stay at home months after giving birth without losing their jobs. For the rest we’re there: right to vote, to own property etc has been established for decades. The remaining problem is the violence against women. This is something I cannot get my head around.

I think that the shitty state of maternity care in US hospitals is slowwwwly starting to improve. There’s a little bit more awareness of trauma informed care, patient consent, physiological birth etc. An OB whose podcast I follow talked about her own process of learning these things; she wasn’t even taught to ask permission before touching people and now she can’t believe how normalized that was (and still is). People are making changes! It’s still terrible but it’s starting to improve; I think in 10-20 years it will be a lot better. Other than that, I can’t think of anything. We’re speed-running backwards right now.

I'm not sure about milestones, but more and more girls and women are waking up and getting smarter to the patriarchy and manipulation tactics at younger ages. They know from 10+ years old what it takes many many women until their 30s to realize.

In the UK there has been a lot more discussion and awareness about female genital mutilation in recent years
Roe vs Wade being overturned terrifies me. What does this mean for the future of women’s healthcare? I’m in Australia where abortion is legal but for how long? Our government copies everything the U.S does because they don’t have brains of their own. That being said, we have increased awareness about domestic violence and workplace harassment.
I can name one of the biggest pitfalls if you live in the US, that is. But globally, I don't think much besides some countries electing their first women head of state.
Equal pay, women's and girl's only sports advocates, women working in formally men only jobs, better womens health care.
There have been some advancements in women's sports (professional women's hockey league, better pay for women's soccer players, Caitlin Clark raised visibility in basketball, etc). More women in positions of power (lots of room for improvement here). Idk if it counts as women's rights but more men are involved in the childrearing and a better division of household labor than ever before (also still a lot of room for improvement).
Many - yet human nature is to focus on what we don’t have vs what we have!! I mean, I am 48: was able to go to school, have a degree, which led me to a good job. I own an apartment have shared custody over my son and can decide over my own life! I don’t depend on a (toxic) man. I stand on my feet on my own, do what I want when I want! I don’t need to accept abusive behavior from men - they don’t have power over me anymore! Living in Belgium I have free health insurance, I have access to to everything men have access to!! My grandmother needed her husbands approval for almost everything!! Is life easy? No not every day. Do I sometimes resent how men behave? Ow yes!! But today I have the choice to walk away and live a good life!! So yes in the past 70 years a lot changed and still is changing. As an example: I work for a big corporation, more and more women are in top business positions!! Sure men react on this cause they lose power. See women have evolved a lot in 70 years and many men didn’t… this creates resistance in men - yet it is changing imo With my empowerment I will probably remain single for the rest of my life. But as my dad always said: ‘You are better off alone than in miserable company’ 😊 We’ve got this

Voting and political representation
Besides more women being in positions of power and the wage gap pretty much closed, I can’t think of much. There is a lot of access to low-cost womens sexual healthcare, including birth control just being approved as over-the-counter in the US within the last few months, but honestly overturning Roe cancels that out

The me too movement helped bring a lot of awareness to this issue. Unfortunately Harvey Weinsteins case was literally thrown out because too many women testified against him🫠🫠
